Diego Alves blows my mind. How can somebody be so good at reflex shots and penalties yet so aweful at controling the box and defending from set pieces. I have never seen a keeper like this. I think i like Guaita more

Puyol you have been a HERO this season.
You know things are really bad when we rely only on Puyol & Abidal to win us games. I hope this changes really soon or we can kiss the title goodbye...I hate to see Real Madrid take it, but until this moment they deserve it 100%.

And please Messi if you are reading my comment, please stop taking freekicks...leave it to Alves or Xavi.

i dont see much wrong with his free kicks,yes he has his share of failed free kicks, but he has many of his free kicks are absolute class. he is at least good when kicking with his left foot, so messi should do those, leave the right foot to xavi, alves, and when he returns, villa

Sanchez - not good enough for Barcelona. Pedro > Sanchez.

Messi still fantastic despite missing PK. However, needs to stop taking FK as they are almost always wasteful.

Sanchez was overrated when Barca bought him he's definitely good but to fit in Barca's system you need to be a great passer and that Sanchez is not.

Sanchez has had enough time to adapt to Barca's system, so I think he's just not good enough.

also i think messi should not take PKs when it really counts such as being the winning goal as he doesn't have enough cockiness in him (if any).

Its funny how all the madrid fans come running out of their shelters to say that Valencia should've won. What about when Valencia and Real Madrid played? I'd say there was a little controversy when higuain HANDBALLED the ball inside the penalty box for a penalty to be denied.

clearly angles show different views, and if you watch it from an angle where you can clearly see his whole body from above then you can see from that game that it hit him in the upper bicep lower shoulder. how can you even call that a handball. perhaps if your a real barca fan you'll remember this beautiful hand ball goal ( equal to maradonas ) by messi http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrifqshUtPk

The bicep is still part of the arm.. And you can tell he went to block it with his hand, not body. Clearly intentional, red card and penalty.

- Pinto should have been sent off probably because he ruined a clear chance and seemingly on purpose, and Valencia might have benefited from it. Yeah, we got lucky there. First time in a while but to the trained hater mind I'm sure it's like the last time was this Tuesday.

- Valencia were great. Barcelona were not rubbish. The only thing rubbish was Messi's penalty, and he didn't have such a great night anyways. Other than that, it's a draw at the Mestalla following a good performance with, again, too many chances not converted. Alexis should have scored twice, and I'm sure Pedro would have put one of them away. Soldado and Jonas had a really good match. Valencia were the better team in the first half, Barcelona in the second. Hence a pretty fair result in my opinion, although we should have kinda won it between minutes 50 and 75.

- Awesome dribble by Puyol. Cuenca looked veeery skilled too at certain points, he seems to be this season's big discovery.

its great that Valencia can hold off against Barca. the second leg would be totally interesting, although Barca would definitely have an upper hand. and i agree that Pep should've trusted penalties and free kicks to Xavi, then Messi. He missed penalties a bit too much.

Very exciting match, hopefully the second leg is like this. Valencia played a great game but not better then Barcelona I have to admit although I do think Valencia would have won if Pinto would have been sent off which he should have. Another thing Messi should give others a chance to shoot penalties from what I've read he misses 1 out of 4 penalties he takes. Maybe Xavi, Iniesta, or even Dani Alves but when Villa is fit he should really start taking some. People might start telling me "well Ronaldo always shoots them for Madrid" and before you say that Ronaldo hasn't missed for Madrid just yet ;)

Fair enough, agree with all of it. I think the thing is in league games it's also about the Pichichi. And in general it's about Messi being the superstar and whatnot, that's why he keeps taking them. Ronaldo is a far better penalty taker, which is kind of unfortunate for us lol.

After his 94th-minute miss which cost us two points against Sevilla, I was like maybe Xavi will start taking them. No such luck. It's not something you'd usually say but we're stuck with Messi.

I don't know about free kicks I mean he hasn't score alot for Barca but he's always rather close hitting the bar a couple of times Ronaldo is definitely a better penalty taker but Messi a better short distance free kick taker, Ronaldo may have scored more but he gets a shitload of chances and misses most of the time he shoots them, he should let Xabi Alonso shoot free kicks and Messi should let Xavi handle the pens.
