How did the teams perform?

wow us needs to improve to even stand a chance against the international teams
JEESH......Egypt?.....lost by a hair...crap!!
Man U used to have Rossi, but somehow sold him to Villarreal... Wth did they do that for? He was great as a kid, and he's fast becoming really excellent as an adult too. Sometimes I just don't understand the decisions of the board.
If Lippi has any clue of what he has in this team...we could make a real splash in SA. I am not so sure he has the guts to make the changes that everyone else sees...those dimensions you speak of can only be beneficial if they are used to the fullest and that means bruising some ego's.

I truly am psyched about the possibilities here...this team can be one of the most balanced we have seen and can win it all if that balance is allowed to shine...
pirlo sets them up...traditionally and tactically italys main artery.. but with skill and instinct like rossi, you add yet another dimension to the mulit-dimensional italia squad...forza ragazzi!!
Pirlo is close to superstar status...this guy has a perfect feel for the ball and continues to deliver perfect balls to strike...it is a pleasure to watch him develop..
Rossi is good but de rossi is the man. He really plays good. Whats with Toti?
Well done to the Azzuri, a great match which I was lucky to see live.
USA played very well but they havent got the class of the Italians, every time they won possesion they would pump a long ball up to their forward (Altidore) Hes a bit of a mini Drogba and was showing some abilities but he wasnt strong or gifted enough to run the attack alone.

The best team won this game, great comeback!
ForzaAzzuri...you are right on!! Lippi is giving them the respect they deserve...how long until the new blood takes over..who knows?

If he makes the changes we need...look out for some interesting footy. Azzuri can win it all just as easily as any of the top 4...I really hope Lippi sees the light!!
Sir Alex Ferguson must be thinking: why did i let Giuseppe Rossi go? haha.
Absolutely stunning piece of skill from Pirlo on that 3rd goal.

Seems like only the slowest of players are capable of feats like that. Van Nistlerooy for Holland in Euro 2008, Berbatov for United last Premier League season...
Hi there Moonshine 222.
I think the USA's tactic of playing Italy in a very physical way is the right approach for putting the Azzuri off their game. Unfortunately the aggression needs to be controlled. That tackle was very late, quite high and it was always a chance of a red card.
However, you are correct. The sending off changed the outcome of the match.
Italy can win this competition. Brazil are not as strong as in the past. Lippi has the mix of old heads and new talent just about right.
wow what a cracker from rossi!
USA played better than before, but seeing how their only goal is a penalty, that really discourages the fans
What a rubbish red card from the ref. Definately a yellow card but seriously?? a red?? The US was dominating until that card and even a little while after the card but eventually the gas runs out. Not taking anything from the goals from rossi, great football, but the whole outcome might have been changed. Maybe italy and the US will play a game sometime soon without a red card or two in the process
