Dang didn't think Costa Rica would win this one but they did Klinsmann has tons to work on
This was pretty cool, I not fan of USA, but feel bad they didn't get a goal or anything in front of there crowd, but whatever Costa Rica had a cool goal after howard made great save
US was looking good, had a solid formation but couldn't seal the deal. It's a shame.

Well played Costa Rica!
hopefully klinnsman will help us stop playing soccer and start playing futbol.. great first half for us though! costa rica is such an underrated team! they have many quality players but more importantly work much better as a team than the US (for right now anyway)
What a win by Costa Rica total control over USA goal should be goal of the week.
As Darke said, the USA dominated the first half of the game, and throughout had good chances to score. Costa Rica at no point had "total control", all the same, nice goal on their part.

US were doing well during the world cup. now they don't seem like their players are fitting well with one another.
This is the mentality that kept US soccer down. Making it past group stages isn't "doing well". Only now, under Jurgen, are we learning how to play this sport properly and with finesse. And yes, with 6 changes in the manager's second match, there will be awkward moments. Have some faith and start watching soccer for the way it's played rather than in the form of statistics.

@Wigwam. Couldn't agree more. I watched the full game and despite the 1-0 loss, the team is playing better soccer already in just a month's time. Results will come. I was more excited to see them possess the ball the way they did. If Donavan slots that 5th minute chance in, the game would have opened up. He normally doesn't miss chances like that.

Not making excuses - and congrats to Costa Rica. Just saying that it is obvious that Juergen is making some progress and I applaud his commitment to play the game correctly, and not compromise for a meaningless friendly.
Lets go USA!!! We made a lot of good opportunities, but didn't finish them.

Klinnsman!!!!
This is what I love about football. A small country can go and beat a country with 300,000,000 million people and who knows how many people have in costa rica. Costa rica doesnt even have a military but they stil slayed the us tonight.

Thta being said looks like the US had some quality chances and failed to execute. This is what friendlys are for.
the u.s are more focused on the NFL and training absolute monsters for the most entertaining sport around, costa rica couldnt field one player capable of playing in the nfl...
what does the nfl have to do with anything i said? and those small samoan islands are pumping out nfl players like crazy ;) their 40x more likely to make it to the nfl than any1 else according to estimates

my point was the US invests prob 100x more than costa rica but it doesnt matter

Slowly US is learning what football is and moving away form the s**t soccer they played for years ... now only please stop relaying on a powerful goal keeper and start building up the play to score goals.
Please dont just wait for a stupid free-kick to use head goals or place 8 ppl in the goal to somehow put it back of the net...

Note: the beckham style of play does not work in international arena

What can I say about the US team? Nice kits and good goalkeeper. This game did not go USA footballers way.
Surprising win by Costa Rica plrs. I am really surprised...

shock for USA not to get the win, but it's their fault. Donovan's chance was golden but wasted. Moved the ball around but couldn't break thru. so props to Costa Rica for surviving a good attacking onslaught and even come out with the win. Klinnsman and USA have learned a painful lesson.
There needs to be an unlucky button... USA played much better than Costa Rica but couldn't find the net.
And for all those people saying that the USA is bad for losing to Costa Rica's B team, we aren't exactly at full strength either. We're playing a lot of youngsters who had limited international experience (Agudelo, Shea, Rogers, Chandler, Castillo) and missing some key players (Holden, Dempsey, Bradley). The only difference between the two teams last night is that the US has a bit of a brighter future than Costa Rica. In Klinsmann We Trust.
You guys need to go to the USA page to see real actual conversations about this game and the team in general. There were a lot of positives here and we played alright. Jurgenn is figuring it out and in time the US team will be top form...mark my word. He has to play certain combos in game situations to know what is going to work...besides Landy was off tonight and we could have done much better in the middle..

If you watch US footy at all you will see there are 3-4 really good young players coming up that will astound you in a few years...just in time for 2014..

Embarrassing for the Americans. They should be rolling over Costa Ricas B team. Klinnsman has alot of work cut out for him.

As do all new coaches, especially when its their second game and they've made 6 initial roster changes that include a slew of budding stars. Given some time and experimentation Klinnsman will eclipse Bradley, and the style of play he seems to be teaching is already showing up beautifully.
