i can't decide wether the US are really that good or spain was just really unlucky that day
One of the biggest and most important wins for the US in recent years. Can't wait for us to make some noise this summer in SA, hopefully Guch and Davies can get healthy and rehab'd in time.
f**k you guys the US is good
spain loosing against USA :O....
they lost to usa c-mon spain had a good winning run
Haha, Puyol, I never get tired of that hair. It was awesome to see Donovan, Dempsey and Altidore working together like that. Also, Howard was the man. Way to go US!
us national team still blows... us was lucky to even get out of the grup stages.. they were the worst team in the last 2 world cups... period..
World Cups come every 4 years; alot has changed. The US Team is of different caliber now. Maybe the Spaniards should remember that next time they get too cocky. US deserved to win.
Are you honestly thinking this through Marco? You claim to be a Mexico fan, so maybe you will remember the USA beating Mexico in the '02 world cup to advance to the quarter final. Probably not the worst team no?
Marco you're a complete fool. The last two world cups meaning 2002 and 2006, right? Lets not forget that it was the USA who sent Mexico home from the 2002 World Cup in the round of 16 and made the QUARTER FINALS, which is something mexico has never done outside mexico. And now in 2010 USA slaughtered and won group C and I was there for every game. USA is much better than you think. Bow down to us.
Only a 2/5 Match Rating? This is an instant classic!
can't wait to see the us take on brazil. we (US) will need a little luck to win but should be a good game. Another thing i can not stand american commentators. I bet i'll have to watch the game with the volume down. they give no insight and are a bunch of yelling lunatics with no style. why can't we rent one from england or something? at least for the big games. come on espn do all us americans a favor and fire that tool behind the mic
spain played like a bunch of cocky assholes...and with the help of two of the sloppiest defensive plays(whats new ramos is either making a nasty play or f*****g up) and the US defense wasnt even that good villa and torres had many balls at there feet infront of goal..but u still got to give it to US for act giving it all they got and pulling out a win vs the number 1 team in the world
usa still sucks but hey got to give credit to usa, good job
are u an idiot. first of all USA DOESNT suck. they were quite poor in the past but now they are emerging. second u first said us still sucks then u gave credit to them. if ur going to comment dont contradict urself it makes ur statement sound a lot more false.

sorry for the rant, but i despise ppl that get so blinded by public stereotypes and cant think for themselves.
hey Tomcio, have u been to the US? You think US has no passion for football, but u are a lil bit wrong, a lot of them have football passion, not as much as in Europe. US might not have as much success as other countries but they have loads of talent over there. In fact all countries MUST have a Messi or a Villa or a Torres. Its just what the country does with the talent that matters. Somewhere along the way talents can get distracted and think about it in US they play so many sports and its the entertainment hub of the world. Like Bizrak said comfort yourself with that but despite what you think u.S BEAT Spain.
well how about that.ppl might say usa was too defensive, and that they dont deserve it, well in what book does it say playing defensive football is a crime. they worked hard to shut out spain and to me they deserve it. and they werent bad on the offensive side either, altidore using strength to beat spanish defender, and bad defending from spain coupled with a nice offensive play by us. im not american if thats what ppl are thinking but i still think us deserved it and they could go on to beat Brazil if they can beat Spain.
another thing i keep hearing is how the usa didnt deserve to move on from the group stages. ALL 3 teams other than brazil had the SAME RECORD! 1-2-0... every sport uses some sort of tie breaking system. fifa uses goal diff. then number of goals scored. why does italy or egypt deserve to progress more than the usa? someone explain this to me. cuz i've heard it said, but without any logical reason.
this is a great point! Here is the bottom line USA played really well and wanted to win that game very bad, Spain played like s**t and couldn't remember the last time they lost. Don't believe me go to fifa.com and read Torres' interview in it the transvestite goes on to talk about how Spain was not upset over the lost because they couldn't remember the last time they had lost a match. Here is a important lesson for the kids. Never forget the agony of defeat, especially while the other team is focused on the thrill of victory.
how is the usa lucky? i've heard this again and again on these posts. most goals involve capitalizing on defensive mistakes. you could make the same argument for the first two goals brazil scored on italy, would they have scored that goal without the defensive mistakes from the italian defenders? or the second one could argue that the goalie should've maintained control and not give the brazilians a second opportunity on goal. give me a break this is typical anti american bullshit.
Right on dude.
