really? a tournament SEMI-FINAL played at a ground like this?!? no TV coverage, less than 5000 fans...i appreciate when big name acts come back and 'play the club circuit' but MLS needs to focus on profiling the sport. This reminded me of the semi-pro USISL team I used to watch in my home town growing up. Great family atmosphere, but the league squandered itself into oblivion. I want MLS to succeed. It's good for football, good for fans, good for America in general if we can grow a league that can and will produce talent and a beautiful game. But this is a step back to the grassroots era of the league...and we're 15 years in already!
It actually was the Sounders and not MLS that made the decision to play at the smaller venue. Its an incredible place to watch a game. very intimate and close the action. Yes small but experience is like nothing else. W/ the success of the sounders in this tournament that location may change next season. The club just didn't want to hav it at a stadium that would look empty. The final will be sold out and be amazing and hopefully show the rest of the MLS that the US Open Cup is worth winning. It got the sounders into the concacaf champions league which has been incredible. Really MLS is moving in the right direction, slowly but moving.
