didn't look like a penalty to me, courtois shouldn't have been sent off imo.
makes no contact on ball, brings a striker down in the box on a goal scoring opportunity. as the commentators said, NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. but i agree, shouldn't have been a red card.
imagine if this was " Barca vs Athletico Madrid" and they get 2 red cards???

ja ja, its Real Madrid now not Barca, against valencia, clear penalty and red card for higuain not given and then this here!

and Di Maria, the worst diver i've ever see, really he is diving every single match he play, every time non stopp.
Rules or no rules, I would bet my life savings that if the foul(s) had been reversed (i.e. casillas fouling adrian) it would have been a yellow...
+1
No ur wrong because casillas was sent off last season in a game within the first 10mins so ur talking shite!!!!!
First 10mins !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea but which foul? it wasnt like this fould here
we are talking about thi stuation here.
sooooo many CITY haters!! WOW. Success truly does bring hatred. Our team is only months old!!! Thats it. Months. And look where we r. We were in the group of death where any team could have gone through. Who did Real have to play? Or Arsenal?? Or United?? Look at your group, then look at ours. United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Real, all would have had a difficult time in this group. And the ONLY reason I dont mention Barca or AC is because they r in the same group. Arguably the second hardest group. We would have gone through in ANY other group. And we still aren't out of the competition yet. We are a young team going places fast! Don't HATE. Don't be jealous. Both are such weak emotions! Jeez

Oh really success brings hatred? Hmm something that United has dealt with for years and years. Haters are just gonna hate...

NOoo Courtois D:
Lol @3:14 some fan pointed middle finger
Penalties yes, straight reds no.
Understand ur thoughts, but it seems like straight reds on penalties are given only when a sure goal opportunity is stopped illegally. But a yellow is shown for a penalty in the box that's not a goal scoring oppor but a definite infringement on the player going foward.
+4
Letter of the law says those should be reds as they occurred when there was only one defender (the keeper) between the ball and the net, with the ball clearly in possession of the attacking team. The penalty kicks were remuneration for the denied goal-scoring opportunity, while the cards were for the fouling. Straight reds are definitely a bit harsh, but I'm sure a lot more players would be willing to take yellows if it means trading a clear shot at goal for a PK. Red cards discourage that behavior altogether.

Relevant: http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/affederation/generic/81/42/36/lawsofthegame_2011_12_en.pdf

Page 37: A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he... [denies] an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player’s goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick.
So if it's a penalty kick for denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity, it MUST be a red.
i actually agree, penalties they were. red cars they shouldn't have been.
ASENJO is so much better than thibault. Pity AM's manager is blind.
Favourites for the Champions league will be
Barca
Madrid
Bayern
and if they get past the group stages:
City

All 4 have squads capable of taking the domestic and champions league,

I think Milan will have a good run, maybe United to.

Oh yeah, there will always be the surprise package ☺
+3
city?...hahaha
+2
city is done, napoli is the surprise
+5
u forgot benfica :D
at city lol
like you said they all have great squads.

They do, Barca Madrid and Bayern are all fantastic teams with a great squad. City has a fantastic squad, but a good team? Still not there, struggling to beat Villarreal at home, draw and loss to Napoli, and outclassed by Bayern.
It's odd how the same team that beat Man U 6-1 at Old Trafford could lose to Napoli, which isn't even in the top 5 in the Serie A.
Then again, Inter is at the top of their group but ranked #15 in Serie A right now...
Atletico were brutal on those tackles. A lot of times I see them tackling hard on Khedira,Ronaldo etc. Both of those players deserve their marching orders because both were last man and both of those plays will end up in goal. No arguments my friend. This Real Madrid team looks more and more scary. The partenership between Benzema and Higuain for the last few days has caught my attention.
CR is out with a Grade I sprain and a contusion on the left ankle, courtesy of Atletico and this tackle: http://i.imgur.com/WMaWJ.jpg
Well played Madrid. The gap starts to widen.
It's 6 points, calm down.
and soon it could be 9 points but no reason to panic..lmao
when its a two horse race 6 points is the difference

6 points it's huge vs madrid !
BARCA IN CRISIS WAAAHMAHGHAD

Advantage for Real Madrid but if you guys start celebrating in November then you're screwed.
This man has a point. We still have two clasicos to play before we can even think about celebrating.
atletico was controlling the game...after the red card...u know wat happens...
+3
Here we go. the "if it wasn't for the penalty Atletico would have won" excuse. And if my auntie had a pair of balls, she'd be my uncle. They weren't controlling the game. They just weren't letting Madrid control it comfortably. Theres a difference. If it wasn't a penalty, it still would have been a goal by Benzema. THAT you can be sure of. The rest, well just look at the past 12 years of derbys.

"And if my auntie had a pair of balls, she'd be my uncle. "

LOOOOOOOOOL!!!!!

Here mate please have my internet beer!

Benzema would have scored, and if he was fouled, Ronaldo would have scored....but it was a yellow card, not a red.He pulled out of the challenge
+1
Law #12 states that if an obvious goalscoring opportunity is denied and results in a free kick or penalty kick, the foul MUST be a red. So even if there was no malicious intent or even if it was unintentional it's still a red.
+1
I don't see why people are complaining about the ref. Benzema was clear on goal and the keeper took him out. He may not have made an intentional foul, but he, undoubtedly, made contact. Rules say it is a red card for taking out the last man.
The second red was a bit dodgy, but the game was over by then.
+2
So the game ended 9 players v 11 players... Go figure for real madrid
+2
And they were lucky. They should have finished with less than 7 players... I suggest you watch the game before you talk...
+10
for idiots like u and others who complain about the red cards in this match... watch the friking game before talking u moronn
+5
How about the other oh say 5 or 6 games this season where by the end of the first half madrid is up a man...
Wall street journal even thinks your league is a joke...

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204630904577056202393365684.html
The intentions of Madrid and Barca, along with any other team, are 2 things: Trophies and Money. Always has been.
They are not after anything "moral" or are not after making the league look better. Each team is a selfish team; Each team is out for themselves. If that means splashing out cash, then they'll do it.

In my honest opinion, You shouldn't lean toward a newspaper that specializes in financial and business aspect to tell you how "competitive" or "Exciting" a sport is. The article itself leaves a lot of stuff out.
+1
You just said it yourself that it's all about money and trophies, yet a financial magazine would have no credibility in this debate? There's a reason why fifa's about to instate financial fair-play rules...

And I never mentioned anything about morality or competitive or exciting. I'm just saying that La Liga fringes on corruption. And hell, corruption's exciting right?
You're living in america and yet you talk about corruption.
This entire world is brought up around corruption deal with it.

+1
Dude I never said America wasn't corrupt. I know it is, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna just sit there and accept it...
Please FC Hollywood....take a look at your own club! There is a reason why the rest of the German population calls you that....
Bayern aint perfect, but it's a hell of a lot better than Madrid. They got lots of homegrown talent, and most of their competition won't sell them their stars anymore. If you saw their game against Dortmond you'd know that there were a number of big calls that went in Dortmund's favor. When was the last time RM posted an annual profit...?
why didn he play asenjo in the first place? facking hell
They look genuinely happy when they score now. They celebrate like a team.
