Well done Portland, looks like they already have a massive fanbase in their first season!
They're fan base has been there since the NASL... I don't think they ever left to be honest...
SLAUGHTERED!
Portland dominated this match, but Pappa's goal was awesome!
My buddy was about to play in Portland, and he told me their fan base was huge, but wow... what an amazing atmosphere. I'll have to start watching more MLS games. There is definitely much more talent than there used to be.

MLS is completely different now than what it used to be... We are slowly establishing our league in the best way possible since our birth back in 1993 which did not become official since 1996...

I became a fan of this league since my move to this country... Football here is not what everyone else say... Criticizing footballers like Beckham, Henry, Marquez and so on saying that they are wasting their talents in a retirement league...

We compete in the same level as the Mexican First Division and sometimes better... Only difference is that the style of football here and the league has only been around since 1993...

So from someone who follows football as much as I do around the world... People will appreciate, or should appreciate the love for football here in North American...

BTW... That would have been great if your buddy was able to play for Portland... They have a great football history... That whole region does... Cheers...
Can't wait to attend my first Timbers game since their coming to the MLS and getting the new stadium. Gotta love the NorthWest and the passion for football!

Wow... This match gave me goosebumps... Specially right before the match when the Timbers Army and everyone in the stadium sang the National Anthem... What a support... I follow football so much and since my moved here in the US... I've been following the MLS as well... I show support for the local club here in the Bay Area... San Jose... But this Timbers... This club is quite special...

The Pacific Northwest is a great footballing region here... Rich in history with their football... But I must admit that even though San Jose lacks the attendance since we can only fit 10,000 supporters in our temporary venue... We do show our support... Even through storms... Literally...

I guess what I'm trying to say is people all over the world don't give the MLS enough credit they deserve... Football has come a long way in this country... Real Salt Lake is in the CONCACAF Champions League Finals and if they pull that off... They will be in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup... All the new venues being built... It's beautiful... I love football with so much passion... I follow leagues from all over the world and I know I'm just one person but I give full credit to the MLS... Only been around since 1993 and officially since 1996...

Hats off to Portland... Great result... Kenny Cooper's deserved the first goal... Quite unfortunate the ball went out of play as it entered the box... Perlaza seems like a good investment... But the last goal of the match from Marco Papa was excellent... Keep it up Portland... Great venue... Jeld-Wen Field...

From Santa Rosa, CA

P.S. First ever footytube comment... My apologize for the length... Cheers...

@Alex703rockstar Sorry mate... My first comment... Just showing some love for the league...

BTW... Quite unfortunate with the Red Bulls at PPL Park... You guys played great football and I thought you guys deserved the win... Both chances by Agudelo was sweet... What do you think of Henry and Agudelo's performance???

Henry right now is a lump of sand tbh. He really needs to step it up. They should start Rodgers, who would be incredibly pesky and disrupt defenses' shape to create space for Agudelo, who is excellent. I'm hoping the goals come soon, because I'm sick of all this great passing for nothing.

And I didn't mean to be attacking you, it was just a joke. Sorry.
No worries mate... :)
One of the first MLS highlights I've watched and I was surprised and delighted that the fans were so into it. Game was fun and interesting. Some good goals, some awful ones. Loved the lumberjack between goals

lol, they cut wood in the stadium? :D
Nice goals, the second by Chicago awesome.
Need the commentator to commentate Bayern games :>
The cutting of the wood per goal has been a tradition for the Timbers since their NASL days... I think it's pretty cool... :D

Solid win in the Timbers' home opener....GO TIMBERS!
Home opener? Isn't it already like round 5 or 6? Or did they play their home games at a different place before this one?
No, they've played three away matches up until this point. This is their first home match.

If you think this is a lot, Kansas City plays their first ten matches away before their stadium opens.
Ten??? Wow... What else are they working on in that place??? Looks great though... Reminds me of a mini Stamford Bridge almost...
