US & Netherlands really dangerous
to be 40 years of age and still perform week after week for a great club, its unbelievable! Edwin always amazes me with his tactical awareness of the game and anticipation of general play! He passes the ball like a midfielder marshalls his defence like a real general! I think he should get out of international retirement and get back into holland!
to bad US lost but that was a sweet header by US for the last goal of the game......
With the return of Persie for Worldcup.. Netherlands is my number one bet to win the worldcup...
I hope the Netherlands kick some ass this year.....Van Persie, Robben and Sneijder will be unstoppable
who likes the new unis?
I dont really like the numbering.
Finally got a chance to watch the highlights!
What a header off the free kick way to go...
that goal could have been offside but either way USA played well.
definitely was toein' the line but we will take it!
The Netherlands won from a penalty and a deflected shot. To say that the US got beaten as if they played terrible is just wrong. Those were 2 plays that could go either way. The Netherlands won, but as far as I'm concerned, they got lucky....twice....
Dutch just had too much class.
Netherlands is the better team no doubt. US is doing well...just more constant playing!
did barak obama played ?
If you are going to try and be funny, please use appropriate grammar. kthx.
I just dislike it when some ignorant noob, like you, comes along saying "use proper grammer." Its a big world out there and people speak all kinds of language. Im glad even if they just try to share what they are saying in english; and then there are the hippocrites like you - "kthx" - thats your opinion of proper grammar? So yes, there you are sir, all in proper grammar, and just one little favour to ask of you - next time, shut up!
spelling or not...crap joke, everyone knows Obama would single handedly win the World Cup with his untouchable athleticism http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-afpPb2NT2I
This game was pretty even, I felt it could have gone either way. The dutch won from a bad PK call and a deflection, which comes to non deserved win and not really a good showing for how much talent is on that team.
The US look like a bunch of girls playing futbol. They can hang in there and they still have a great set play...but please. Resorting to booting the ball the length of the field is the worst kind of futbol that can be played.
Who helped themselves:
Altidore - showed that he is the forward for the US. He showed composure and balance, and really made himself a prescence. Sure, Landycakes is our greatest ever, but he showed that, in order for us to win, the ball must go through him,
Edu - love this guy. an injury is no reason someone should lose their chance to play in South Africa because of an injury that took place two years ago. It's almost like Bob doesn't even know he exists. Edu + Bradley = WIN.
Beasley - what ever happened to the slow piece of s**t that can't trap (Confed Cup anyone?). He showed tons of will, pace, and most importantly, EFFORT. This is something we seriously lack oftentimes. That middle dry spell in qualifying all had something in common. Most notably, Bradley and Altidore tend to doze off as the match moves on.
The midfield - throughout qualifying, I noted two problems with the team: Our defense and our midfield. We are an attacking team, but it always seemed like either both center mids, or no center mids were up there with the blazers, Donovan, Davies, and Jozy. I finally saw some real confidence and knowledge with the ball at their feet in the supporting role. We had some really good spells where the dutch were just running in circles.
Bob Bradley - Finally, the man does something half-decent (all together now.... HIRE SIGI! HIRE SIGI! HIRE SIGI!). You could tell from the get-go exactly what he told his team. Something he lacked for the past year and a half that he finally noticed. That it that they were aggressive. They never backed down from a tackle, and weren't afraid to go in 100% in a friendly. If it weren't for the Dutch being such pussies, we probably would've put 4 past them (de Jong and Heitinga should find themselves a nice little cliff and jump off it).

Who hurt themselves:
Findley - sorry, he's a great goal scorer, and almost looks and plays like Altidore's evil clone. But fact is, this was an audition for Davies' spot (hope he's fit in time), and despite showing skill, his knowledge for the international game is miles behind Davies.
Bornstein - maybe it's just me, but I have no clue as to what this man plays. I never hear his name on the tele, and sometimes manage to even forget that he exists in general... Fact is, he's not being an offensive impact, and at the international level, you HAVE to know how to work in both ends of the field.
The defense - Our midfield played great, and transitioned well with the front four. But the defense continued their sluggish ways. We're fantastic out of the air, but when people play around that (Sneijder? Kaka? etc....) they absolutely rip us apart.. One, we never step as aggressively as we should. We're so afraid of having a through ball played behind us that we just ignore common sense defending. Also, I'd like to see more from the outside fullbacks. I truly admire Frankie hejduk (but not his hair) because he's just a workhorse. He really looks to push the ball forward as soon as we have possession. I look for that in an outside back.

About the jerseys, they're awesome, I already have mine on pre-order. Some food for thought for you haters.... 1) back in the day with "real" football, every other team had a slash on their jersey. Criticizing the slash is like saying Umbro's jerseys are too old fashioned. 2) People come over to the US forums to bitch about our jerseys when Peru have had those jerseys for 75 years. I don't want to hear any more bitching about them, particularly if you're not American.

Sorry if I offended any Dutch in the process of this. I really thought you guys were a class country and a class team. I predicted you'd win the whole competition. But if you really have to resort to the devilish BS of football to beat the #18 team in the world, then I have not one ounce of respect for you guys....
Dopo quella partita ho visto che non una grande differenza tra il calcio in Europa e uno in America!
i didnt that that kuyt was touched when he went down but thats just me
Wesley went down.
this is what pisses me off about International refereeing during US games. If a US player tackled someone like De Jong did, he's sent off without a second thought but because it came from a European it's just miss timed.

When a US player tackles like that it's brash and ugly. When it's a European international it's miss-timed and unintentional. Absolute horse crap.

On a lighter note...am I the only one who likes the US kits? lol!
LOL yes you are but I will still be buying one or two gotta represent. That damm stripe is too F-ing big!
Try being an irish fan, we get F****N basketball ref's for our matches....Count yourselves lucky:(
Poor Holden had to have surgery on his BROKEN leg...6 weeks of recover time...not as bad as Ramsey's but dirty tackle in a "friendly" and De Jong doesnt get a red...I agree with Hilty4 if it was a US tackle he's off as soon as he goes down and it is called a "typical" american tackle...this sh*t p*sses me off!
