with Nani Man United was the best team in the game and without him they turned to the worst team. they looked like 4th division team.
why the hell they stopped playing after the card?
People who criticized Messi against Milan come and see Ronaldo was anonymous in this game before Red Card. only Rafael kept him in his pocket. and Milan had three players marking Messi in that match.

I saw this comment which said that Man U's arrogance cost them the game because they should have parked the bus. I think whoever wrote that comment didn't watch the full match because Man U actually did park the bus subsequent to Nani's eviction. The only problem was that " the special one" Mourinho, had a croatian made tow truck specifically for the job of impounding the United bus. Lol

As someone said all wrong decisions for a team cancel out at the end of the season. Maybe ManU just get some of their fair shares in this match.

this is ridiculous C'MON PEOPLE. i urge you! be honest- HE WAS TAKING THE BALL DOWN WITH HIS FOOT. like many great players do 20 times a game, thats how you pull a ball out of the air! arbeloa made a challenge and both got hurt- nobody did anything wrong. this is just sad, it was not dangerous play. look how his body is positioned then go and watch highlights- its how you take a ball out of the air!
This was gonna always be a tight game against 2 of the best teams in the world (evenly matched). The decision was a bit harsh, but i feel Man utd only have their own arrogance rather than the referee to blame.
It's not the EPL where Ferguson gets everything his own way, with all his friends in the FA, this is against Real Madrid in UEFA CL.
Had when they went down to 10 men instead of complaining, humble themselves, look at the situation and park the bus, with full concentration for the remainder. Another defender for Van Persie (make the game boring) they would of had a better chance.
But Chelsea did it against Barca with out any Central defenders on the pitch.

thank you so much!
for people who said, Nani was unaware about arbeloa's presence, should see at 6.35

where in 6:35 are you talking about? that's the exact angle that everyone is basing that nani did not see arbeloa. you're probably the only one who thinks the opposite from that footage. open your eyes man!

Manu was the better team and I believe out played real in both games (comparing chances not possession bc Im not a believer in holding the ball when not trying to get forward bc it just leaves you open to a bad turnover and a fast brake against you)However Nani's redwas sad and kinda ruined the game however it was still a red. The Reff was 100% right; high foot, studs out, dangerous play, late, and did not get ball, it was a bad angle. 5 yellow/possible yellow card offenses in one play and 2 yellows is a red. It don't matter how unintentional it is it was careless and imo the ref made the right choice and really had no choice in giving the red card. With that said Like I said imo Manu was the better team till that point and would have won and if they played again Manu would win.
Welbeck's goal in the first leg at Madrid was earned on a wrongfully awarded corner. The ball came off Kagawa last. The own goal by Sergio Ramos in the second leg should have been disallowed because Van Persie was offsides when he received the ball, just before playing it to Nani who sent in the cross resulting in the own goal. Further more, In the 60th minute of the second leg, Varane redirected a corner kick towards goal, where Higuain put the deflection towards goal. Rafael was on the goal line and intentionally raised his hand to the ball which kept the ball out of the goal, but no call was made. This is a red card and a penalty kick every day of the week. Real Madrid were the better team, and Real Madrid deserved to win.

If you're going to bring up other no-calls don't forget these ones:

Arbeloa cleated Evra in the knee with no contact to ball long before Nani touched Arbeloa. Just as dangerous of a tackle and just as worthy of a red card.

Ramos also fouled Evra in the penalty area and the ref told him to just get up. A penalty kick every day of the week, especially if that were Penaldo going down.

Real Madrid were only ever the better team after United went a man down and were slow to react. Stop pretending otherwise.
A cleat to the knee is not a high foot, or dangerous play. This happens quite often. I will admit it could be a yellow card in some circumstances. But Nani's leg was parallel to the ground. His cleats were up and caught Arbeloa IN THE RIB CAGE. You cannot compare the two. Not to mention Nani extended his leg after contact and then rolled around on the ground as if he was the one who had been injured. Nani's proclivity to dive only made the referee's decision that much easier.
as a Manchester United long time fan, I'm distraught by the referees decision. But I'm proud of my team, they faught well. There's no doubt the game was ours after Ramos's own goal. Hadn't Nani gotten sent off we looked set to win that match atleast 3-0, Rooney was coming on fresh as our 1st substitute of the night. That was our game secured from then on. Anyway, it's pointless to look over what should've happened, we should instead focus on the FA cup now and Premier league. I think United's performance in at old trafford speaks volumes of what they're capable of and I know both those trophies are in the Bag. :) GGMU

thanks!
Poor Nani will be associated only with two things

a. Remembered as shadow of Ronaldo.
b. Red carded in Real Madrid Champions League Game

Sad cause the whinny English Media that loves to juice out money on each small thing of football. So much stories after stories; just saw a whole article on how many cards the ref gave in his life-time. Geezze

How about asking the real question- do english teams really perform or just show up in big Champions League Games.

Looking back- Liverpool and Chelsea (with Drogba) showed their potential. Man U always get away with an easy group then show up fresh but loose cause nothing went their way.
Manchester United has been in 3 finals out of the last 5...

@Andrewlindsay I was completely thinking that as well. Too funny
Obviously we don't perform even though we held RM at the Bernabeu and had them on the back foot (for a while anyways) at home.
Man utd only have their own arrogance rather than the referee to blame.

Oh and let me point out something if you have such an issue with how United reacted after the match just to refresh your memory..remember the Chelsea Barca match(2009-hoepfully you were supporting chelsea then). We look like gentlemen in front of your team of hooligans. So just let it be and move on.
