There should have been a beach ball for this match.
that was 2 years ago let it drop
Hmm! This game said a lot! Sunderland are improving under Brucey - he's becoming a very respectable stable manager - bit like Moyes at Everton. He's bought well and the squad in general looks more robust. Maybe challenge for Europe within 5 years?
Liverpool are looking better, Gerrard still has to come back fighting fit, Adam and Downing look like good signings - good strong goalie and Carrol is so dangerous in the air. NOW, Suarez. Good player, think he'll score a fair few this season (got him in my fantasy league teams) BUT does anyone else think he needs to become a little more sportsman like? I mean after the whole business in the world cup and in this game asking the ref to hand out the red card...
Whilst he's a very good player, it's things like that that can take the shine off!
Otherwise, looks like Arsenal may struggle for top four, Liverpool are back! haha! Can't wait for the Liverpool - United game! Exciting!

Agree with the Suarez and the rest of the comments!
liverpool should have won that match against sunderland bcuz on paper we were d better side but ths jus football
Well if that statement is true, Stoke should lose 90% of their games this season?

Keep stroking it while reading your paper.
beautiful goal Larsson
unlucky liverpool..

should have won and i think carroll needs to be the penalty kicker
i think he's a better shooter than suarez

i like the new liverpool squad after the big change kenny made
with a bit of teamwork improvement then i think this season liverpool is going to finish up top 4

I think Charlie Adam should be thankyou... the best set piece taker in the squad :)
I honestly believe the first half showed our potential but the second half showed our weaknesses. Its only the first game, if we can gel and start playing like we played in the first half and boost team moral we will deff make it in top 4 maybe even top 3. As liverpool fans i urge you to stand behind the club no matter what, because thats what we're known for... being the club with the best supporters. YNWA!!!!

I can help but wonder if we could not win the game against a team like Sunderland without the likes of the sold Bent at Anfield, with all our players...what good are these new additions. Lets be frank here, after Torres i thought we would be a better team but it seems that we are being carried by the exploits of Suarez now(still look like we are going the one trick pony way). Not impressed by Downing, Caroll and Henderson and the only guy we paid a low fee for Adams is performing as he should in the team. Our defence, lets not get started.I don't see us getting in the top four this year, let alone winning any kind of titles .We paid stupid money for average players and i am very sad to see that most of them are not lifting the team to a new level but providing nothing new. Strangely...the day Daglish was given his new contract, he lost the last two games and openned with a draw. I wonder is KD up to something?

a team like sunderland???? this the same team that beat chelsea 0-3 at stamford bridge? the same team that has a good track record against all the top clubs? so never mind "a team like sunderland" were a decent club, with some good players.

I agree with Parkerm35, Sunderland played very nicely! The main reason why we lost is because we started reverting to our old long ball tactics in second half, when we should have tried to maintain pressure by keeping possession instead.

are there any player interviews about the game v sunderland? i cant find any on youtube
god dammit suarez. in the goal please.

I HAVE HIGH HOPES FOR LIVERPOOL THIS SEASON !
Hope so mate!

Hope so too
Thought they played really well in the first half,Carroll was a bit unlucky to have his goal ruled out, slight nudge but nothing really. Also Downing unlucky not to score but the second half wasn't so good.Suarez looked a bit tired and the defending wasn't great, the goal came from bad marking. As the season goes on they'll improve and Adam and Downing look good.Probably choose Maxi over Henderson although there is a big age difference with Henderson still very young.Hope Gerrard comes back soon as we miss our leader on the pitch.
sick goal by Larsson
From a Liverpool fan: ''CRAP PERFORMANCE ! [...] - specially at Anfield !??? I'm absolutely speechless and gutted ! Forget the title and better aim for top four spot ! I know I'm rude on this one but as a rational Liverpool and football fan, I can't see us having that mental quality and squad strength to win the EPL !''

Now I urge the man to go easy on the lads. Yes, considering how many chances they had to kill off the game in the 1st half, the draw becomes hard to swallow. BUT it's only, ONLY, the 1st game of the season. Plus the other contenders for the top four kinda had it hard as well. Manchester United was extremely lucky at the end to get that goal as they could've ended up with a draw as well. Chelsea had a hard time finding the flow. Arsenal, well....:(

So if anything, based on the 1st half, i would feel kinda confident and optimistic this season could've its share of good runs.

IT'S JUST THE BEGINNING! Cheers!!!

The LFC fan you're referring to is ME and IT'S A BAD BEGINNING ! :)
I'll stick to what I said. What I mean there is you can't go into a season wanting to be a challenger for the title and drop silly points against lesser teams - specially when you're playing at home !
If you want to win the title you must make sure that kind of mistake doesn't happen because teams like Utd, Chelsea, City or even Arsenal won't drop too many points in their quest for the title - specially at Home.
I know J. Henry, owner of LFC, said this term the aim for the club is to be in the top four but deep down his heart he wants LFC to win the league title for many reasons
oh oh im so flattered that u put arsenal in the list of teams that dont drop too many points..
thanks buddy u made my day... lol
@ Oohtobeagooner(Arsenal): That was not sarcasm - I mean it... I can't recall the last time when Arsenal has been outside the big four in Wenger's reign !?
I also don't think Fabregas departure will affect you guys if Wenger finds a good replacement. So I definitely think Arsenal will be one of the challengers
yeah we never get any lower than 4 but keep on losing silly points especially with middle teams..
thanks anyway mr cannibal suarez.
p/s dont eat me im not tasty lol
U do reckon that during a season it's never about who doesn't make mistakes BUT who does the fewest mistakes. It wasn't such a good result. But rather than let one self down just after the 1st game is just way too easy.
Come on, take one on the chin, get up and try again. As i said it's only the 1st game. Don't tell me that losing 2 pts at home means the league is over! lol
flanagan is a very big folp if any one noticed it and henderson dont deserve to be in fist team in liverpool ............missed johnson very much at right back f**k flanagan after first half he didnt do any thing......

Hes young and inexperienced, give the lad a chance. They can only improve by playing and he put in some good displays last season.
@PeterGriffin. Did you watch Liverpool at all the second half of last season. Go look up how old he is and get off his case for a bad half. If you're saying you missed johnson at right back, then you clearly don't know much about johnson because johnson doesn't get playing time for his defensive abilities-that's for sure.

Frustrating to draw at home like we did with Suarezs missed penalty and Carrolls disallowed goal, there was nothing in that. Even more disappointing to see that United was able to grind out their 3 points...same story different season? lets hope not!

All new signings look promising though. not sure if agree with Carroll starting over Kuyt. To me Carroll suits the role of a super sub better. If we can't break down defences on the ground first, then start bombing long balls into him
Don't forget Kuyt is 30+ and Carroll about 23 so at very different stages of development. The only way Carroll will improve is by playing and he showed enough so far to suggest he'll be a hit.Unlucky to have his goal ruled out,if that had been allowed we'd be talking about how he got the winner.
