Jelavic again
Didnt see the movie
very bad refereeing. It was PK!
Jeeeeelaaaaviiiiic!!! Was ecstatic when he scored!
Crotia a very strong team that looks good and could be an outshot if they have a good game vs Italy, even Spain but ya should be good. The Croatia goals were nice headers by Mandžukić, great placed headers that Given just didn't get the luck and just bounced past him or off him. Great headers. The Jelavic goal looked offside at first by everyone but awful defender error that went to him and great finish by him. Nice one goal for Ireland, they had a lot of fans and the atmosphere was fantastic it looked there, they all are but especially this one. Ireland missed some key chances for sure though and Keane should have got a penalty. But nice to see so many of both fans, good win Croatia, looking forward to see what they will do vs Italy and Spain. Ireland it looks like its already almost over.
Well played by Croatia. I feel a bit sympathetic for the Irish and their lack of support by the referee, but entertaining game to say in the least!
well done croatia, hope u perform like this in the next match :)
I understand there are more irish fans out there. but the CROATIANS were NOT LUCKY, we DOMINATED you guys :)
I feel bad for the boys in green, but Croatia were the better team, so the better team won.
I fancy Croatia for upsetting a few top countries in this competition.

I was at the game supporting Ireland. The best team won for sure. Croatia showed more quality all over the field. Certainly not Irelands best performance. We are capable of better. Croatians are great fans! great weekend. Ireland need to dig deep and not defend deep!

Croatia were the better team in the game and deserved the win. Ireland should have kept playing like they did right before they scored.
Instead they went back and stopped attacking.

Croatia are in a great position now to go through after the draw between Spain and France
Spain and Italy?
come on, Italy and France are on the same continent...
I hope Modric keeps this up! Fantastic performance!

Jelavic was offside in the first phase of play for the strike. Ward passed the ball straight to him in the second phase but as TV replays have shown his heel was clipped by the Croatian player causing the miskick. Ireland were unlucky not to get the offside or the free out. Keane should have had a penalty as well, poor decision from the ref. Saying all that we would have been undeserving of even a point. Croatia ran the show and were without doubt the better team. Sure we will just beat Spain and Italy.....easy!!!!!
Unfortunate for Ireland as they've been waiting long enough for this moment but Croatia were clearly the better team, moved the ball much better and looked more of a threat from open play. Qualification for Ireland is highly unlikely now with Spain up next but they've shown that they can compete with Italy (drew 1-1 in Bari, 2-2 in Dublin in WC qualifying).

I couldn't believe that the person with the whistle was able to keep it for the whole game though, pretty poor that there weren't enough stewards to sort it out.
They were lucky being allowed a goal that was clealy offside, and keane deserved a penalty for the challenge on him.

Although referee should have stopped play for the head injury and croatia earnt a good win.

It wasn't offside mate, this is getting frustrating...It's not something that's even open to interpretation, the Irish defender passed it to Jelavic. And Keane might have deserved a penalty, but Ireland scored their goal from a non-existing foul and the Irish could've gotten at least 2 red cards for elbowing. My point is, don't be biased.
In fact i havent much faith towards either side.

Playing the ball from a rebound or deflection off an opponent is offside.

Although i would agree that Croatia weren't lucky and deserved the win, i dont think luck is too far from the truth.

the ball was played backwards by a Irish player = not offside, watch it and pay careful attention to the touch that sends the ball into his path
not its not, if the ball is deliberately played at by an opposing player, an attacker cannot be offside, Fifa Rules.
I can't understand people who voted Croatia lucky. We were dominating for 70 minutes of the match, created more chances than Ireland, and scored three goals. Bad defending shouldn't be considered unlucky. And we play just as much as we had to, anyone who can't see that Croatia were simply far superior doesn't know much about football.
The only moment where Ireland could be considered unlucky is that they didn't get that penalty, but to be honest, it serves them right for being unsportsmanlike and not kicking the ball out.
