nice game by potugal and gk(iceland) had sloppy game...

messi ronaldo comparision is just crap cos both them play for diferent kind of teams..ronaldo is more kinda player who can make the game pacey and messi he can get ball through whole defence ..

both of them are great but cant be compared!!

DAMM YO, people don't know how to watch football
they just root for the player they like looking at just one aspect
or cause they look cool after watching their "highlight" videos...
okay let me get this staight 'cause Messi and Ronaldo have completely
different styles in the pitch now althogh they are both in the offensive end
-C. Ronaldo (second striker/centerforward)
has amazing physique and sprinting ability and amazing shooting
good with his feet so he doesn' easily gets the ball taken away easily unless he tries to beat a defender and fails (he's more of a dribble then just shoot type because of his ridiculous shot range and power)
He is a decent dribbler but more likely to use his physique and footspeed to pass by and when does pass by he goes "around" the defenders not like a world class pure dribbler such as Ronaldo or Messi who actually smoothly just go straight by them

-Messi (wing forward/shadow striker)
more technical than Ronaldo and just has the world's best touches with his feet (current best) in my opinion and not as fancy and strong as C. Ronaldo but he compensates with his speed plus agility and ball touches also quite frankly just to judge dribbling ability Messi is much better and he is good teamplayer when C. Ronaldo's playing style requires a bit of sacrifice from his teammates

This is just the gist of the differences.... they are both world class players but overall right now there is no one that brilliant with his touches like Lionel Messi plus he's younger and already basically won everything except the worldcup

Dats like saying players like giggs, del piero and gerrard are not or were not amongst the best simply because of club loyalty.And even if wat you are sayin is true, it does not yet negate the fact that messi is the best player in the world (and has been for a cupl of yrs).

Ronaldo gets way more publicity and attention. He's a fun player to watch because he not only plays well but he also puts on a clinic on tricks, runs, free kicks, etc. Messi is boring. "if the show is boring tickets don't sell". Boys this is a show now, a business, so get on with it. The bigest entertainer gets the most praise.

ohk, ohk, wel here this, Messy(spelt tht way on purpose) is alot shorter than Cristiano and yet Cristiano takes on players and beats them far bettr than Messy. Messy can only play in La Liga and has been playin ther for forevr, so y has he juz started to make an impact??? Cristiano, from the time he signed for Sporting, Man Utd and Real he has made impacts, why, because he's simply THE BEST

Portugal looks fantastic here, I think they could dethrone Spain if they play wide and keep possession like this. As for Ronaldo, these highlights clearly show passes and assists on his part. If he's on the ball, he's opening up the defense, it doesn't matter who takes the finish.

Ronaldo is a winner... and he cares about winning first and foremost, yes he loves personal glory, but winning is his number 1 priority. With that being said, Ronaldo has one of the most accurate and powerful shots in the world... so he's entitled to take plenty of opportunities... besides, if his kicks are more likely to convert to goals and goals help his team win then isn't he actually doing the best thing by his team by taking lots of shots? And to his credit, he also gives plenty of passes and creates opportunities for his team mates... that's my 2 cents.

I don't wanna sound rude, but this is a silly comment 7alejadro7. Messi is not a good free kicks taker, but he scores 2, 3, and sometimes 4 goals per game. Can Ronaldo do this? defenitely NOT.
Being special in one thing doesn't make you the best. Gerrard has a powerful and accurate shot, do that mean that he should be the best player?

Messi doesnt score everytime without someone getting the ball to him.
Ronaldo? He owns the ball.
Both different players both best players, I would prefer Messi in a team that has Xavi, a Fabregas, someone that has that last pass and Messi just has to push the ball into the net, Ronaldo would fit more in a team that has two strikers, he being one of them
