Yes, women football is definitively getting better.
This is one game out of many games that have been played and very very few were as exciting as this one. The women do have talent, but I think you are exaggerating a little bit.
I will say, however, that a lot of these girls are tougher than some of the men you will see playing. The Nigerian women, especially, are very scary.
The first goal, a header from Garefrekes, was unexpected but not undeserved. France looked a little bit intimidated during the first half, so the 1-0 was a logical consequence. Great header by the way. Grings header was another classic, but I'm quite sure that a better goalie would have saved that one.
After the break the french looked much stronger and more determined, probably Bini read them the riot act during breaktime. Delie's goal was absolutely deserved and once again it was a classic. Our defense seemed to be sleeping at that point of time. Then came the "great" moment of mademoiselle Sapowicz - a brutal and totally unfair attack agains Bajramaj that resulted in a penalty and a red card for the keeper. No further comments here, the referee made everything right. And then Georges entered the stage - what a goal! Such a marvellous goal is rarely seen in women's football and considering that after their goalies booking the french fighted like mad, it was without any doubt, totally deserved.
The final point by Celina Okoyino da Mbabi (Jesus...what a long name *g*) doesn't need any comment. She was free in front of the goal and had all the time in the world to bury the ball. Nice one, but not spectacular.
My votings: "Great" for both teams. We saw a very good game that was won by a slightly better team. There was no dominance like some people from the press pointed out. Yes, France was a little bit worn out after they were down to ten women, but nevertheless they showed spirit far beyond the expected.
Phantastic game!
Germany was at least a league better. France creating almost no goalscoring chances (2 at most and both of them were easy for the goalkeeper).
They had 10-15 minutes after the break when they were on the same level as Germany, but even then they weren't any better and certainly didn't deserve a goal more than the other team.
Before the game I thought they would kick our asses after their 4:0 victory over Canada.
Apart from these two corners there was absolutely nothing France did to make a goal. Zero shots on target in the first half.
Germany dominated the whole game. They were lucky enough to came as close as one goal during the match.
Still a very entertaining match and much better than the previous ones for Germany
