As a firm fan of two sports: football and ice hockey, my love of football died a little for me today and not because my team lost. With the fairly upsets we've had this year it took until now to fully reveal just how much money other teams have compared to celtic and other smaller clubs. 100 million euros difference in transfer fee costs or something like that between them. Even then I'd be fine, if uefa wasnt such an obviously corrupt organization. The refereeing in this match and others of recent years not involving celtic have been ridiculous. Everything should be like hockey: salary cap and complete transparency on every issue. Video replays, drug testing and suspensions for diving. etc etc. Either way I'm proud of celtic for making it this far with peanuts. Congrats to lennon for doing his job well.
So nice british highlights there, but where is the manhandling of Pirlo? oh wait...

Celtic should be happy Lich took it upon himself to protect Buffon as if he wasn't there, Hooper would have gotten a certain yellow for a foul on a keeper and it's good night for him.

He could have gone anywhere else. Certainly he wouldn't have been pressured this much if he decided to step back to find some space. He wasn't looking for space, he didn't care about the ball. This is what you get.

The only thing Lich was doing is providing a wall between Buffon and opposing players. That is fully allowed. Of course it's going to get rough if said players go at it even harder. They were looking penalties, it's clear as day.

poor celtic. and what a terrible ref

celtic was unlucky most of the time.
Ambrose thought he was still at the African cup of nations. He used to dribble a lot from the back.

Good analyzation.
far out that Juventus defender giving the constant hugs during the corner kick would get on my nerves so bad if i was playing..

and its ok when opposition player trying constantly to block @ limited ur goalkeeper movement?

Lichsteiner just doing his job protecting his goalie.

Lennon tactics of blocking the goalkeeper might've work on smaller Barca players...but not to us. We refused to get bullied by this physical team
+4
I understand what you're saying but it is not illegal to stand in front of the goalkeeper but it is illegal to man handle an opponent.

If anything it was Juventus who were the physical team. As Pirlo said before the game, Juve were expecting a physical battle from Celtic but in fact it was the other way round.

That's not to say that a physical approach is wrong, but you're making it out as if Celtic were bullies, which couldn't be further from the truth.

^were you Neil Lennon in disguise?
+1
You can indeed stand next to the opposition goalkeeper. If not then the keeper could just walk about his box till every opposition player had to stand outside it. At no point did a Celtic attacker grab or pull Buffon to prevent him from doing his work in goals.
+1
if the opposition player impedes the keeper it's a foul, you don't need to clear him out of the way, the keeper just has to run into him and fall over - instant free kick.

the ref didn't do it right anyway, cards for both players is a poor option

Of course you're right, we are all wrong and there is a conspiracy in the British media to give Juventus a bad name...

I admit that I am often bias in my opinions towards my club and I think the same applies to you here.

But you won so what's the problem!?
^my problem is that when somebodies who knows jackshit about us(and just watched us play from highlights and 1 or 2 matches) try to pointed out that playing "dirty" was indeed our style, and then try to painted the negative image on us(not like it was a new stuff to us).

while on the other hand we just adapted to the environment & gameplay whenever we sees fit..and it all pay-off(the win at scotland)

Seriously... Why lie? I did not say that Juventus played 'dirty'! Read my comments, you can see for yourself.

You said that Celtic were the physical side attempting to bully Juventus. I said that in fact it was the other way round and Juve were the physical side.

Then I said: "That's not to say that a physical approach is wrong, but you're making it out as if Celtic were bullies, which couldn't be further from the truth."

You were disrespectful towards Celtic with your ignorant comments. Please READ my comments before making assumptions.

Well done Juve... Like I have been saying all along!

You have a Juventus Vs. Rest of World mentality...
^thank you for noticing that.

we've been on our own since 2006 and fighting everybody since then. So yeah i don't really care how other fans think about us

JUVENTUS VS the rest of the world
NICE
I think ppl already forgot what Andrea Pirlo said b4 the match and i quote;

"If they want to play football, we'll play football. If they want to go to battle, we're ready to do battle"

And seems to me they were taking Pirlo words for granted

You give Juve a chance and they'll kill you. But I feel for Celtic. Should have gotten a much better result.

respect for celtic, it's been awhile since i saw juve being dominated in the midfield.

our offense can convert those chances efficiently, a rare sight indeed. celtic did well but we displayed an italian style defense. 3 away goals but still, we can't let down our guard

forza grande juve !

If you didn't see the game, you can tell by the highlights who dominated the game. Celtic were excellent, high motor, high emotion. Juve had 4 chances on goal, and realized three of them. Juve is pure class, but Celtic were the dominating team this match

They chose to play high up the field which probably took us by surprise so thanks to the early goal, a more defensive tactic was adopted.

Which worked out great cause Celtic couldn't really get near the goal, only by doing something out of place like that bycicle attempt could they create real chances. They played for corners and high balls which are our weakness, but in the end the boys were equal to it.

To put it simply, Celtic need more quality. They played better than anyone expected, but with shots like that it won't happen.
Well played Juve. They played a true away game. Unfortunate Celtic. The score line didn't reflect the actual game..

celtic played well, but Juve was just to much for them
Fair play to Juve, deserved their victory last night. Celtic played a strong game, we bossed the midfield for a lot of the game which was very surprising, but simply lacked the firepower we've previously enjoyed in the tournament. Missing Samaras was a great blow and playing Ambrose was always gambling, specially when we had Matthews fit the whole time.

Ref wasn't great but he wasn't terrible, you have to expect that stuff when you play top Italian sides, it's not a league match and the CL is a different style of the game; it has to cater for all the European leagues's different types of football.

Ultimately it was like a taste of our own medicine, Juve had less chances but made damn sure they took them effectively . It's a shame it's not alive for the second leg now, but you just can't afford to crumble like we did for the last 15 minutes of a champions league game.

The score line doesn't tell the real story. Celtic played much better than 3-0. However, at this level you can't just play with heart. You've got to finish their chances.
Celtic played quite dirty. I can't imagine what Juve will do to them back at Turin in front of an equally loud bianconeri crowd.

Welcome in the real world Celtic.
At this level, u must score your chances. Remember when Barça kicked something like 30 times on goal without scoring, and you were winning 2-0 on your 2 occasions? Well, quite the same.
Juve and PSG seem to be built for this competition. Lethal and intelligence

so Celtic haven't been in the real world 7 times since the rebranding in 1992?

Juventus were just better, no story of inexperience or newbieness here.
