A tragedy happened in Mexico today after Ecudorian star was shot in the head. Check this news. Paraguayan international Salvador Cabanas will remain sedated because of a cerebral edema (an accumulation of fluid) that continues to grow after the player was shot in the head in Mexico City.

The doctor tending to the Club America player, Ernesto Martinez, expressed his hope that the complication would not worsen.

"We hope that this edema does not progress further. Now 48 hours after the injury, we continue to wait for an improvement, but his situation is still grave and the risks to his life remain," he said, according to Goal.com Latin America.

Cabanas was shot in the head inside the "Bar Bar" night club in Mexico City on the morning of January 25th. There is no known reason for the attack, but the player was reportedly conscious on the way to the hospital.

Cabanas received medical attention during the early hours of the morning and was supposed to undergo a craniotomy later in the day. However, doctors decided that it was too risky to proceed and the bullet was not extracted. He remains in critical but stable condition.
