almost a new team for the season, players were well rested with Chelsea in mind. Good result in the end. Benfica wasn't going to be a easy ride, history has it all. Luisao was a monster in the center.

Well planned Sir Alex, another masterpiece of selection with a whole season ahead.

Giggsy must drink from the fountain of youth. 37 and still scoring goals at the highest level of competition is amazing. Benfica looks like they haven't missed a step after losing Fabio Coentrao and David Luiz. Arsenal should take notes lol

Oddshot... NO, Carrick was abysmal in this match and the whole of last season with a few glimmers of brilliance, Chicha, Vida, Van Der Sar, Nani, they were instrumental last season, not that waste of wages

Lets try not to be petty. Carrick was great for united and will undoubtedly play a big part this season. He is coming out of injury and form/sharpness maybe an issue. If SAF can trust him with midfield, so can you.

Ryan Giggs...even after all these years...unbelievable man! Hats off to Ferguson for knowing that Ryan Giggs is still capable of performing when any other manager would have discarded someone as old as him a while ago.
