Oh my that goal by Spartak, such teamwork!

Great comeback by Barcelona
Spartak Moskva's second goal....beautiful.. best example of teamwork and counterattack! BEAUTIFUL!
what a comeback..i think defensively both teams were garbage..
Spartak score the goal of the season and no one seems to notice.
????????
messi, the greatest ever!!!
This is similar to what happened last year with the Barcelona first team. Injuries!! Iniesta, Puyol, Alba - not available. Alves and Sanchez just came back from injury. Pique just got injured. Hopefully, Tello will be able to perform under pressure and Adriano is in good form, although his defensive abilities are quite suspect. This leaves, Messi to carry the burden as usual.

I still don't think Barcelona are in trouble when it comes to offense. their defense is such a huge problem, it will haunt them all season. This year, Barcelona turned over a 35 million euro profit. Its great that Barcelona finances are turning around. Hopefully, they can get into the market and acquire a couple of young CBs and develop Fontas, Bartra and Montoya. And maybe when Abidal comes back sometime later this year, Barca can be strong as usual at the back.

Good analysis mate, one thing though on offense, opportunities to goals ratio is not favouring Barca, like spartak had 1.5 opportunities, they scored 2 goals, Barca needed more than 10 opportunities to score 3 goals. Barca is labouring a ton before getting goals.
its always been like that buddy except a few occasion, its our way of doing it.
barca need some decent cb's as backup instead of buying every midfielder in sight
Is Abidal returning any time soon? If not, Barca are deep in defensive crisis. and el clasico is due in November. :-(
november? its due in roughly 2 week of time lol.
who said messi cant header for s**t! just look at this!

WIth Pique and Puyol gone, we are at the brink of the same crisis mode that we were last season. Aside what some people have been saying about el jefecito, he has been a reliable pillar at the back for the past seasons. I trust Marc Bartra would be a great CB some day but im not sure if he is ready to take such a role just yet. I dont understand why we could not bring in another cb.
Offensively speaking, Tito made an excellent choice in starting in Tello. The boy was incisive with his runs. No, wonder why he is being courted by PL clubs.
Pique's injury is huge. I'm sure Song will be training his ass off to become comfortable at CB because that's where he'll be needed in the next few weeks I suspect.
We will also likely be fitting bartra into the squad a bit more, busquets is another option, but we may need him in the midfield, but i feel he is better than song at the back
Messi scroing headers, the ultimate slap to the opponents' face. He's like 4'11 and finds another way to violate the competition WDF
5'7" actually.

what a great counter by spartak, but they were as usual unlucky, by tello is turning out to be a great left winger, 1 assist and 1 goal from the youngster !!
With all the very justifiable Messi talk, there's still Tello. Tello appreciation post right here. The kid played a few good matches, then a lot was suddenly expected of him and he found it hard to cope. Yesterday he scored the best of all five goals and assisted Messi for the equalizer with a great move down the left and past that defender. Well done to him.

Good comment. A goal is a goal but that 2nd Barca goal was all about the assist, excellent play by the young man.

why is barcelona still keeping valdez? why?
You're not mixing things up, are you?

Alves = guy who scored the own goal
Valdés = guy who couldn't do sh#t about it.

Second goal wasn't primarily his mistake either. No, he's not the best goalkeeper in the world, let alone the most consistent, but this is the wrong match to point the finger at him for, and it's not like he's consistently terrible anyways.

time for a new defensive coach. what the #W&@ is going on? Two own goals recently- Mascherano and Alves.

If you're going to play with Brazilian wingbacks who don't defend, you better damn well have two solid CBs.

Stick a fork in him - Puyol is done. Gone. Finished. Not coming back. We need to get over it and move on from him. Stop partnering PIque with whomever happens to be around on any given day. We need a solid CB, not a stream of temps.

Not scoring own goals is not something you can coach unfortunately.

Normally Alves is a very strong defender. His own goal was a freak accident and you could also partially fault Song for missing the clearance.

You're right though that we need a permanent partner for Pique. Mascherano has done exceptionally in the past couple of years, but you still get the sense he's not in his natural habitat.

New defensive coach? Are you kidding me? Barcelona is pretty thin at the back. Did anybody realize that after Alves' substitution in the 2nd half, Barcelona were playing with ZERO specialist defenders. That's right, not a single defender. With Puyol, Pique and Alba injured, they don't really have a specialist defender. Song has played defense in the past but he and Mascherano being defensive midfielders have the tendency to leave their positions. Barcelona is going to have a tough time this season because they didn't find a back up for Puyol-Pique. Hopefully, Montoya, Bartra and Fontas can step up to the plate but they don't have enough big game experience to make things work for the team.

By the way, what is going on with Cuenca? After a good last year, he has suddenly disappeared.
Thank God for Messi, man this team starts to look like a bunch of free riders waiting for the Magnificent to save the day. I'm looking at you Fabregas. So many opportunities missed by Fabr, Pedro, Busquet, ...come on guys you have to support Messi, he is always guarded by 4 or 5 players, it is not always easy to pull the rabbit.
I'm surprised no defenders on the bench, why use Song as defender ? if Barca do not start planning for the post-Puyol era, we are in big trouble.

I cannot believe that Cesc has come to this, people calling him a free rider.

I thought the manager said he was buying Song to cover play central defender at times?

How has Song been playing?
not bad, not bad at all
