Also before people start talking tomorrow about Milan parking the bus and defending the 2 goal lead, what do you expect them to do? They will play 4-5-1 formation very defensively and will try to score on the counter. Barca will know and expect this and we will see tonight once and for all whether Barca has a plan B if their normal tiki-taka approach doesn't work in the first 45-60 mins.
i respect your words. every football fan must respect good players but you are one of the very few United fans I seen saying this. that is why I mentioned typical.
I am very curious if it will be reported as spam.
He gets marked by 4-5 players every game while the rest of the team is laying an egg but he's still supposed to prove to people he's the best by scoring not 1 but 3-4 goals. When he wins the world cup Messi haters are going to wonder if he's worthy to be called the best because he doesn't wear a red cape and fly in a spandex outfit.
WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY NOW?!?!?!?! MESSI SCORED TWO AMAZING GOALS AGAINST A "TOP TEAM"
MILAN WAS LUCKY TO WIN THE FIRST LEG, THE 4-0 DIDN'T REALLY SURPRISE ME! AFTER ALL MILAN ISN'T MUCH BETTER THAN DEPORTIVO!!!
I think it was good to see the ball moving quicker from side to side and Alves dropping in some good crosses. Again, this can be deceptive because Depo isn't exactly a top team at the moment.
Villa was a bit disappointing. He had one great chance which should have been converted. Alexis was just great. He showed a lot of energy and made some great runs.
The worst player of course was, Cesc. The guy can't seem to be able to hold the ball. He was just too casual taking too long to distribute the ball. Thiago was good but he needs to relax with the dribbling. He lost the ball a couple of times doing tricks. Sorry, when you're playing as a deep midfielder with a slow backline, dribbling is not a good option. Song was also quite bad. Terrible passing and he seems to have lost the vision he displayed at Arsenal.
I think the key to beating Milan would be expanding the field and taking shots from outside the box. I think Barca need Villa at the top with Iniesta, Messi and Pedro/Alexis behind him followed by Busquets and Xavi. It might not be a bad idea to use Adriano at RB and let him run up the field, cut back in and take shots from outside the box.
Whatever we do, more players need to step up to draw away the focus of defenders from Messi. If we can free up just a little bit of space for Messi, he will do his magic.
Camp Nou seems empty because it can seat almost 100000.
While you whistle and jeer your team after a loss, Barca fans chant their team's name even louder.
You dont know what you are talking about.
And for God's sake - when will Barca learn to put a player at the post. I was watching Barca B play vs Cordoba and even they don't keep a post player on set pieces. Needless to say, Barca B has the second worst defensive record in the league. 50 goals conceded and they almost drew with Cordoba after leading 4-1.
I feel there has to be a philosophical change to be brought about at La Masia about defense. For a club that produces amazing midfielders and strikers, their defensive production is downright atrocious.
I'm not saying its over for David Villa although in football there is nothing worse than a broken leg.
To name a few choices Luis Suarez, Robert Lewandowski etc...
Barcelona's style needs balance of power and technique. Technique alone won't do it.
Evra, not really for me. The defense question is quite a tough one, the market isn't exactly flooded with good CB's these days.
Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski would be my main picks up front. Both players have a rare combination of skill and power which is what Barcelona need. If we could get both that would be incredible. Messi, Suarez and Lewandowski up front would be unstoppable. This is just my opinion ofcourse, it will probably never happen.
Why Evra when we have Alba?
We need a solid defender who can slot into a 3 man defence when Alves/Alba make theis forward runs.
The only 2 candidates that pop to mind are Caceras and Zabaleta
Hummels is a warrior at Center Back and i think Zabaleta is developing into one of the best full backs in the world.
I would love to see Zabaleta in Barca as he already proved he can play in a 3 man defense too.
However we have Montoya, but he still needs more experience to become a regular starter.
As much as I like Bale I think he will become stale in a couple of years. His big strengths are pace and power, both of which go down as the player ages. I know he's still young but but pace will only take you that far.
As for Neymar, I think he will take away the focus of opponents from Messi which will open up more attacking opportunities for Barca. Barca will also "make" money from Neymar because he's a superstar, something that is worth the trade. By selling Villa and Sanchez, Barca can easily raise the cash needed for Neymar and he will repay it immediately in endorsements and well, selling jerseys!
henry, ibra, etoo, villa.... it's just, hate for me saying this.. world class strikers can't play together with messi, the way messi plays force others to pass the ball to him...
But going back to defenders: clearly hummels has many of barca fans fancy. I think zabaleta has the standard pace and exhibits some world class robustness as RB. Bringing the two at the back can facilitate competition with alves and piqué allowing them to up they're game. I think vermalen is good CB but not sure he currently fits the bill as his judgement was twice called into question at times as exemplified in arsenal vs spurs game last weekend.
Finally, bale undoubtedly has steadily announced his potential on big occasions but I'm not sure where he would fit in barca with current system. He would be a good signing for us nonetheless .
Great goal from Messi too.
