I know one game is not enough to judge but it's arguable that Barca without Messi is just not as fearful. Just as a little statistic, Messi accounted for 45% of Barca's goals last season. Almost half their goals. You gotta love their style and control over the opposition even without messi but there's something missing in the final third.

Was it really 45% I thought it was 35-40%, but almost half of the goals? Damn. But you are right of course: without Messi Barcelona are still awesome, but they miss something very special. Like a Christmas tree with no decoration.

One HUGE thing different this year than last is of course that we have Villa. Villa has scored less that Ibra so far (compared) but I am sure that he will be our top scorer this year. This will enable us to rely less on Messi.

45% if you include assists. probably more if you take in 2nd assists and his involvement in the build up. But it's not to say that without messi Barca would have scored 50% less goals last year. WIthout any star other players get more of a ball and obviously more chances to score. but still they won't be as effective as this little argetntine.

Guys, the fact that so many people claim "no messi = no Barça" or say that Barça blows every time we don't win with 7-0, only means everyone realizes we are the most feared team in the world, because everyone expects us to win with 7-0.

C'mon, I take it as a compliment people rate us as rubbish when we won, especially with another clean sheet. Sporting had 0 shots on goal!

The only negative thing about this game was that our players looked a bit uncertain and unable to fully unleash themselves. But I would be a little shaken too if the best player of the team was taken of the field last game with an ankle swollen up to the size of a football.

What I didn't not like about this game was lack luster is was from sporting...which I guess you can't fault them cause they are trying to do what they can to win or get a point....but otherwise I think we could have done a bit better we did seem a little dazed at times but I've seen it where we looked worse and Messi was playing.

No matter what I am just happy we came away with the three point 1 goal or not. That is what is most important...Better that one goal than none.

The whole defending sure can kill a game though...

as long as its a clean sheet, its ok, it not that you have to score 4 or 5 goals per game but yet conceded 2 or 3, its shows that although your attackers are awesome, your defenders are bad (just like 'some' other teams, not to mention the name).
