A fine game of refball.
West Brom should have won.
Have you even watched the highlights let alone the whole game? I very much doubt you did. WBA didn't even deserve to draw the game. I do agree the ways we scored the two goals were really lucky but we created a lot of chances and had more possession and control of the game. Gervinho missed two very good chances and Wilshere missed a sitter (open goal!). The chances fell to two players who aren't known for their finishing. At the end, we deserved to win despite fortunate favouring us with the PK decisions.

I wonder what the success rate of shooting a penalty right down the middle is... more players should try it.
cazorla looks so innocent loll
Arsenal need some real attackers!
I really like Carzorla, but there is no excuse for that dive. Not only should he be fined by the league, but suspended as well. Diving is wrecking football. Maybe a month without pay and a 4 game suspension?

Perhaps this is an unjust assertion, but I seem to notice alot of diving from Spanish players regardless of the league they are playing in.

West Brom were essentially unjustly conned out of this game, even though Arsenal in my opinion outplayed them.

That punishment is absurd to me. Yes I agree diving is ruining the game but this is the first time I've seen him dive. Recently, he has been getting roughed up in games intentionally by other teams with little discipline for those players, so I think he deserved one to go his way. A 4-game ban for a first time offender? What should be the punishment for Valencia, Suarez, Bale and Torres who do it week-in and week-out?
Aremenia... Please... WBA also dive... Just look at their first match of the season against Liverpool... Won 2 pens through diving...

Armenia4ever, No way should Cazorla be fined for diving. I don't think he intended to dive. It was just instinct reaction when he saw the lash kick from the WBA defender. The defender did scratch the standing leg of Cazorla. I doubt it would have made him lose balance but definitely very slight contact there. Very soft penalty but we have seen many soft penalties given against us. As for the fine and suspension, I hope you are joking. Only few weeks back was Cazorla praised for his spirit to stay on his feet after he was fouled prior to our 3rd goal against Spurs at home. He isn't known for diving. If anyone deserves to be fined and suspended, look no further than Ashely Young, Luiz Saurez, and the WBA bloke who blatantly dived in this match.
I feel bad for West brom, but Arsenal's midfield looked really good.

Pfew!! We got seriously lucky on that one, bad performance by the referee, but our midfield is coming together well... Now what to do with the forwards...... Mmh
2 Penalties for Arsenal at home. Good finishes by Arteta but first one was a dive by Carzorla and shouldn't have being called and the 2nd one was a good play by Chamberlain but close call could being foul but good for ref to let it go and then got fouled in box. Was wanting West Brom to score and get a tie but Arsenal a good team too.
even the arsenal fans must feel SOME sympathy for west brom.

but you have to admit, in realtime, i thought the first penalty was genuine, only after the slow motion replay was it obvious how wrong it was...

i must say that passing move by arteta, carzorla and wilshire was on point!

Maybe and i mean just maybe they are starting to click!

wenger has issued an apology for the dive and will probably punish carzola. i think the big difference here is we accept it was a dive and will correct it. sorry WBA had to be the test for this but i havent seen any other team, with much more apparent divers, do what wenger has. before fans start going on the carzola witch hunt start examining your own team first and make sure they dont have "swimmers" of there own. moving forward....

agreed
I was there. First penalty was a dive, clear penalty for West Brom with Mertesecaker, and Arsenal's second was legitimate.

Overall Arsenal deserved the win with Gervinho squandering numerous clear opportunities, while Podolski came on made one of the worst misses this season in any league, anywhere.
mertesacker was foulded before he touched the ball with his hand

Exactly, the guy was all over his back and holding him down. No chance that was a penalty.

I do feel for WBA. I've been on the other end of the call SOOOO many times as an Arsenal fan and it really sucks. I think overall, Arsenal deserved the win having more chances and outplaying West Brom for most of the match.
Oh and everything is dandy huh? If it was Man United NONE A YOU would of said that Ferdinand or Evans was fouled. You would have shouted CLEAR HAND BALL. But its another team and football goes on

Jelevic from Everton looks like Marshall from How I met your mother
im starting to lose faith with west brom and that 1st penalty shouldnt of been given because steven reid didnt make contact with cazola.. a absolute silly dive.
