Messi is unreal, but Barca looked very vulnerable. Betis deserved to draw maybe. Entertaining game to watch though. Post, post, bar, post, bar lol
Betis came really close to winning this game. Rarely you see Barcelona waste time like that. Good achievement by Messi.
I wish we had him in City, this midget is one talented fella
MESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSI BETTER THAN PELE AND MARADONA

u must be joking right? not even he would believe that lol
take it easy now , in few hours alcohol should wear off
@ Doron Jesus man, chill.''You don't like it'', you can always go and support someone else, ,maybe Arsenal!! Just be grateful for the boy. He's a living legend
Betis didn't play rubbish, they didn't even deserve to lose !
why would anyone vote rubbish for Betis, they played really well, they could have even won the game, if it wasn't for the crossbar. well done Betis it was a great game to watch
Barcelona hit the post same amount of times. 34% possession isnt good too!!
^ i am with you with the post thing, in regard to the positioning thing....well every team that faces barca has the same amount right?
it was a damn tough game..i remember real betis once played in champions league, then they went downward..i hope this time it wont happen again..love to see them play..
they killed us. Could have won this one too. Mel is definitely structuring the team really well, he is wicked
Would like to see Messi on a different team! Or different league. That would be interesting to see
I hear from a good source that Rodgers is making phonecalls....
Messi's achievements are stalling a lot of the other player's development. What happened to Pedro and Villa? Two years ago they played stellar alongside Messi. They each had 20-30 goals and Messi had 50-60. Now Messi is in the 80s-90s no wonder they can't score any goals. It's not that they lost their killer instinct. It's just all about Messis. I don't like it.

do you even watch game or just call yourself a barca fan..I am not a barca fan but I love watching la liga. what you don't see is the difference between messi pedro and villa. messi creates/takes chances, gets chances and scores while other two also create/takes chances, get chances but they lack is accuracy to score like messi..and that's the fact what you saw yesterday when messi broke the record..

Villa and Pedro suffered from injuries same as Alexis, its not that they arent as accurate as Messi, since Villa has been back he's been score in the few games that he has played, maybe he's just not fully recovered yet. furthermore the defensive line has scored more goals this season compared to last season as well, you can't just assume they are the reason the forwards are not scoring as much. plus Pedro and Alexis are creating space with their runs, it is truly a team effort if you look close enough
Alexis don't know about making goals lol Villa is a great striker but he hasn't been in form after the injury except for few goals, love this Messi, he's making everyone look as a pansy haha
Barca, struggled to close that game out. Credit Betis for still attacking and striving to win! Both Goal from Messi were brilliant!

That chance Jodi Alba miss right on the goal line could have easily put away Betis, then again how did Alba miss from that distance? Lionel Ballon d O'r Messi congratulation on your record achievement.... :P
mmm Real Betis are not kidding. Tough team, hope they get far this season and into Europa at least!
messi on his 25th birthday at his best achievement!
it is great achievement for messi..but i havent seen much acclodes in thi site..come on guys..it's a rare achievement, give him for what he deserved..

Relax Ronaldo, don't beg for adulation. Let it come to you naturally.
Well, for me and some people, the exceptional way Messi plays is already enough for me. Even if he never reached that statistics, I already feel blessed to watch him play. He is the true "special one", He is such a treat, that is beyond and above any record or stats.

true..but what i think poeple are getting tired of praising messi again and again..thts what i tried to remind here because this occassion we should..
Two stories about this game, both important

1) Messi is the greatest calendar-year goal scorer of all time. That's an incredible achievement by a player who's gone beyond incredible. Congratulations to him. He's the best I've seen play the game since I started watching football as a little kid almost 20 years ago.

2) Barcelona had a tough match. Had Betis not opted for such a relaxed attitude throughout the first 35 minutes, we might not have walked away with 3 points. We got lucky anyways, with the 3 shots/crosses/headers that hit the woodwork, though how Alba couldn't finish that off for us I don't know. On the bright side, this is precisely the type of match we would have drawn last season - Barça are now clinging on to the type of narrow lead they reliably squandered a year ago.
