with that touch ..
I watched the Real Madrid game before this one and Benzema, Higuain, Villa and Sanchez couldn't hit an elephant in the corridor. I was more surprised that Sanchez scored the first goal. You wouldn't expect that all these world class players could hit bad form at the same time. And both clubs have Ronaldo and Messi to thank for keeping them in the position they are in right now.

Also before people start talking tomorrow about Milan parking the bus and defending the 2 goal lead, what do you expect them to do? They will play 4-5-1 formation very defensively and will try to score on the counter. Barca will know and expect this and we will see tonight once and for all whether Barca has a plan B if their normal tiki-taka approach doesn't work in the first 45-60 mins.
fair enough
Messi scores the most beautiful goals with the most simplest of touches.
Messi's touch is amazing
This win means alot for our team confidence. bring ON Milan now. but I know how they will play .. they will bring Italian Bus and park the bus in front of the goal. but I hope we pull the bus out of there and make our mark.

most of messi's goals are simply a tap-in, this goal here is one of the only few occasions where he had to run a bit....
What?? I dont know if Man U fans that come and post here are high, trolling or just plain stupid.

typical United fans. they never respect such players like Messi who won four best player of the world in a row. they will always cry to compare Ronaldo with him but they will never see Ronaldo win best player of the world against Messi

The true "typical" United fan will give credit where credit is due. There is a reason Messi has won four balon d'ors in a row, he's the best. Every club, team, country, whatever you will, has smart and stupid fans alike. Please don't be so quick to categorize the majority as being part of the minority.

i don't even know why you guys are arguing with this imbecile...he clearly doesn't know s**t.
@ShiftySwifty

i respect your words. every football fan must respect good players but you are one of the very few United fans I seen saying this. that is why I mentioned typical.

Your post did not convince me.
I am very curious if it will be reported as spam.
You can never convince a troll. It just needs to b removed
Great
If messi is really the greatest ever, i think he should be able to replicate the stuff he did in this game against Milan. You can't outwit lowly teams week in week out and tell me you're a genius.
Your logic is unreasonable considering Milan put 4 of their players on Messi. Or is it regardless?

Or Put 4 Defensive players on El Sharawy.. or Boateng. or Pazzini. Can they score?
When teams put 2 players on Ronaldo, he can't score. El Sharawy, Boateng or Pazzini are not even in the same league as him. Its amusing how the bar keeps getting raised for Messi. He amazes in Spain the question is - Oh he doesn't do much in England. He kicks United's butt at Wembley - Oh he didn't do anything vs Chelsea. Barcelona is down now but Messi scored a solo goal vs Madrid - Oh that wasn't enough to win.

He gets marked by 4-5 players every game while the rest of the team is laying an egg but he's still supposed to prove to people he's the best by scoring not 1 but 3-4 goals. When he wins the world cup Messi haters are going to wonder if he's worthy to be called the best because he doesn't wear a red cape and fly in a spandex outfit.

Touche Franky
Franky you touched my heart with your lovely analysis.
I WAITED TILL AFTER TODAYS GAME TO REPLY TO YOUR COMMENT!!!!

WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY NOW?!?!?!?! MESSI SCORED TWO AMAZING GOALS AGAINST A "TOP TEAM"

MILAN WAS LUCKY TO WIN THE FIRST LEG, THE 4-0 DIDN'T REALLY SURPRISE ME! AFTER ALL MILAN ISN'T MUCH BETTER THAN DEPORTIVO!!!
This game had a better result than our last 13 games but it was quite deceiving. The passing was horrible and we lost the ball quite a few times in the midfield. A better side would have made us pay dearly. However, it wasn't the 1st team so I suppose it can be expected.

I think it was good to see the ball moving quicker from side to side and Alves dropping in some good crosses. Again, this can be deceptive because Depo isn't exactly a top team at the moment.

Villa was a bit disappointing. He had one great chance which should have been converted. Alexis was just great. He showed a lot of energy and made some great runs.

The worst player of course was, Cesc. The guy can't seem to be able to hold the ball. He was just too casual taking too long to distribute the ball. Thiago was good but he needs to relax with the dribbling. He lost the ball a couple of times doing tricks. Sorry, when you're playing as a deep midfielder with a slow backline, dribbling is not a good option. Song was also quite bad. Terrible passing and he seems to have lost the vision he displayed at Arsenal.

I think the key to beating Milan would be expanding the field and taking shots from outside the box. I think Barca need Villa at the top with Iniesta, Messi and Pedro/Alexis behind him followed by Busquets and Xavi. It might not be a bad idea to use Adriano at RB and let him run up the field, cut back in and take shots from outside the box.

Whatever we do, more players need to step up to draw away the focus of defenders from Messi. If we can free up just a little bit of space for Messi, he will do his magic.

My brother, Alfrodo, is a huge Barca fan. I've been telling him that Barca need to change their offensive dynamics since Chelsea beat them. There is only one way to draw the defense out of their box, dangerous shots from distance.
its still hot inside that camp nou stadium.
+1
Camp Nou is empty for this game! How is that "still hot?" Barca fans only show up for big games, which is ridiculous.
There were 69748 people attending this game, compared to the 75000 ManU that attended the 'big' Chelsea game today.
Camp Nou seems empty because it can seat almost 100000.

While you whistle and jeer your team after a loss, Barca fans chant their team's name even louder.

You dont know what you are talking about.

Had an orgasm when I saw Messi's goal.

Decent. I almost prefer this to a 6-1 thrashing because WE FINALLY GOT A CLEAN SHEET, first in two months I believe. And we need a clean sheet, PLUS better finishing on Tuesday against what I expect to be the most ridiculously parked bus this side of Celtic. Gonna be tough, but at least this was an ok match and the league is still very much going our way.
We absolutely need a clean sheet. I think Barca will win the game but keeping a clean sheet is so difficult with this team. Pique needs to start using his height and strength and stop letting people bully him in the air.

And for God's sake - when will Barca learn to put a player at the post. I was watching Barca B play vs Cordoba and even they don't keep a post player on set pieces. Needless to say, Barca B has the second worst defensive record in the league. 50 goals conceded and they almost drew with Cordoba after leading 4-1.

I feel there has to be a philosophical change to be brought about at La Masia about defense. For a club that produces amazing midfielders and strikers, their defensive production is downright atrocious.

most of danger in our box comes from right side, don't get me wrong, I do respect Dany, but he needs to be more focused on his permanent job, then to attack.
Barcelona should get a world class striker.

I'm not saying its over for David Villa although in football there is nothing worse than a broken leg.

To name a few choices Luis Suarez, Robert Lewandowski etc...

Barcelona's style needs balance of power and technique. Technique alone won't do it.
+2
Mouth watering choices there ... Suarez is a yes yes: Clever with the ball and quick in decision making. Any suggestions at the back..
Patrice Evra
I hate to say this but Suárez as a player would fit. I just REALLY don't like the guy. Lewandowski, interesting idea. Just because Ibra didn't work, I still think Pep's original idea of having a big-but-able-footed guy in the box wasn't so bad.

Evra, not really for me. The defense question is quite a tough one, the market isn't exactly flooded with good CB's these days.
Evra has always impressed me (not only his skill and work ethic) the way he could move the ball forward and create chances out of nothing in desperate times, as a defender that is rare.

Luis Suarez and Robert Lewandowski would be my main picks up front. Both players have a rare combination of skill and power which is what Barcelona need. If we could get both that would be incredible. Messi, Suarez and Lewandowski up front would be unstoppable. This is just my opinion ofcourse, it will probably never happen.
Evra; no no no.
Why Evra when we have Alba?

We need a solid defender who can slot into a 3 man defence when Alves/Alba make theis forward runs.

The only 2 candidates that pop to mind are Caceras and Zabaleta
Guys what do you think of hummels and/or zabaleta?
2 Thumbs up for both.

Hummels is a warrior at Center Back and i think Zabaleta is developing into one of the best full backs in the world.
I would love to see Zabaleta in Barca as he already proved he can play in a 3 man defense too.
However we have Montoya, but he still needs more experience to become a regular starter.
+1
how about getting Hummels or Zambrano from Frankfurt for defenders? I think most Barca fans agree that Levadowski is a great prospect, I don't like Suarez because he doesn't have a good header and we need that sometimes, plus he dives and I don't think we should keep having some of that fame in Europe, maybe we should try to get Bale instead of Neymar.
gotta love barca fans and their lofty expections lol everything available to you from bale to suarez, i say it out of envy but not hate.
I think a good defender is what Barca needs badly. Bale is not going to improve our defensive situation. Barca is currently chasing Vermaelen and Agger. I think Vermaelen would be good for the team. I'm not sure about Agger but he has good skills on the ball (for a CB) so who knows.

As much as I like Bale I think he will become stale in a couple of years. His big strengths are pace and power, both of which go down as the player ages. I know he's still young but but pace will only take you that far.

As for Neymar, I think he will take away the focus of opponents from Messi which will open up more attacking opportunities for Barca. Barca will also "make" money from Neymar because he's a superstar, something that is worth the trade. By selling Villa and Sanchez, Barca can easily raise the cash needed for Neymar and he will repay it immediately in endorsements and well, selling jerseys!
tbh you got so many world class strikers in the past already
henry, ibra, etoo, villa.... it's just, hate for me saying this.. world class strikers can't play together with messi, the way messi plays force others to pass the ball to him...
@theatrefordreams I think u are wrong on messi where u said messi's play forces other players pass ball to him. I have seen messi on numerous occasions setting others for gols from iniesta to alexis and tello to alba ... List seems to go on. So your argument doesn't hold much water there.

But going back to defenders: clearly hummels has many of barca fans fancy. I think zabaleta has the standard pace and exhibits some world class robustness as RB. Bringing the two at the back can facilitate competition with alves and piqué allowing them to up they're game. I think vermalen is good CB but not sure he currently fits the bill as his judgement was twice called into question at times as exemplified in arsenal vs spurs game last weekend.

Finally, bale undoubtedly has steadily announced his potential on big occasions but I'm not sure where he would fit in barca with current system. He would be a good signing for us nonetheless .

What a magical talent Thiago is fast becoming.

Great goal from Messi too.
