Arsenal chase Sevilla's veteran French defender Sébastien Squillaci

Arsène Wenger has turned his attentions to the France international Sébastien Squillaci as he attempts to bolster his central-defensive options before the closure of the transfer window.
Squillaci was withdrawn from the Sevilla squad that faced Braga in the first leg of the Champions League play-off tie last night, as the Spanish club did not want to jeopardise the prospect of a deal by rendering him cup-tied in Europe.
Wenger is believed to have discussed a move for the 30-year-old, who was part of France's World Cup squad, although he did not feature in their ill-starred campaign in South Africa.
Arsenal have lost William Gallas – a free-agent and now a target for Spurs – Sol Campbell, Mikaël Silvestre and Philippe Senderos from central defence. They have brought in only Laurent Koscielny, who was sent off on his debut at Liverpool. Wenger's other established options are Thomas Vermaelen and Johan Djourou.

Given would be a great option. But Schwartzer is fine too.
that article is about buying a defender, not a goalie...;)
I know but the Arsenal fan above wrote about the need for their club to acquire an established goalkeeper.

I agree they are both young and proven, while Schwartzer will be good only for a couple of seasons. Can Arsene snatch them away from their current clubs?
As for the Mertesacker that I think that ship has sailed, with Ozil going to Real. They won't sell more players after that.
