Man, this page gets even deader during international break!

Came across this a few days ago, thought it'd be interesting. It's a breakdown of the top goalscorers in La Liga, regarding when they scored and how they scored.

https://twitter.com/ViasatVeland/status/846317899761496065

Ronaldo is third on the list, with 19 goals and 5 assists in 22 league appearances. Although it's commonly believed that he scores vs small teams and in irrelevant games, the numbers tell a different tale. He's scored more goals against the top 7 (6) than any other player. He's also scored 5 winners (tied with Messi and Aduriz) and scored 10 equalizers/go ahead goal (behind just Messi and Suarez). His goals have won us 12 points this season, an impressive number topped only by Messi. So, contrary to popular belief, Ronaldo seems to show up when it matters and has scored important goals this season at least. I'm not sure if anyone has numbers from previous seasons.

The most surprising thing however is the fact that he's scored no goals with his left foot this season, although he has the most headed goals.

Morata and Ramos are also on the list, scoring most of their goals with headers and being very crucial goals. Morata for example has won 8 points, in comparison to Suarez who has 6 that number is quite impressive.

With just 22 appearances CR7's numbers don't look too shabby. At 32 years of age, with a slow start to the season, his performance is impressive. If this is him slowing down, I'll gladly accept it. He has expressed desire to retire here and spend as long as possible in Madrid, and with the way things are going, it is a possibility.

like i said before, when Ronaldo starts ageing, Real Madrid will suffer for years unless they can quickly find a suitable replacement for him or by some magic, they suddenly have a full winning team.

We have never really noticed how average we are, until this season were its clear that age is catching up with ronaldo; yet he still arguably our best player so far this season (par Ramos)..

all those ppl who said crap about Ronaldo and his goals against weaker team just were haters.
This is the first season Ronaldo has not been the usual "beast" in front of gaol for Madrid.. clearly becos he has to over compensate for Bale absence, and unimpressive Benzema... and lack of creativity from our midfield (Reason, i think we should play four midfielders with isco or james in the mix) .. yet he is still putting in the goals and our highest goal scorer.

After watching portugals last 2 games, its clear zidane should play him as our no. 9 or give him a free role in attack.. and find someone decent to cover that left wing; Preferably put Bale back on the Left where he is more dominant
Barca is playing it dirty by attempting to offer Isco a bonus so he can leave when his contract expires. I would rather sell him anywhere else like City since they seem to be linked with him every window.

Really hope he stays with us though. He'll surely get more play time since Modric is aging. Can't see Modric being a starter next season.
+1
Modric surely will be a starter next season, but you're right on the part that he's aging and will have to be replaced. So it's indeed important Isco stays.
+1
Kroos may leave for Utd, so he can replace him
did you just pull that out of your ass, dont get my hopes up alirezafcb
modric can't be a starter next season... i can't see d possibility in that
I don't think Real will let Kroos go that easily. If they want him they have to pay the big bucks for him.

On another note, I would really like to see mbappe at Real next season. Not sure if it will happen though. He is a very exciting prospect.
Kroos isn't going anywhere lol. RM would be mad to let a player like him go. As if letting Xabi Alonso leave was not enough?!!
About Isco, I am sure James would leave in the summer, he is way too talented to be sitting on the bench so often, so that would open up another spot for Isco.
But the problem with Zizou has been his rotation, quite a few games even with CR/Bale injured, Isco didnt start and that place went to Vasquez or Asensio.
Isco should not be sold either.
Kroos is not going anywhere. He signed a contract till 2022 and has stated a number of times that he loves it at Madrid. United can keep trying though
+1
looks like Real and Isco are negotiating a new 6 year contract. I wonder if it will go through.
Fingers crossed nobody gets injured during the international break...
With the type of schedule we have, any injuries would be devastating. At one point we are playing NINE (9) games in one month.
Does anybody else feel that Garcia from Atletico Bilbao is one of the dirtiest players around in La Liga? I don't know how he acts when he plays against others, but against Real, he is constantly pressuring the referee (not sure why he is not carded for it since he isn't captain) and he keeps acting like he is fouled even when there is literally nothing even remotely close to a foul, and then he uses the fake fouls as ammo to go and foul on the other team without the ref realizing that it is he, who is playing dangerously. It was very telling that at halftime it was Real that had 3 yellows to Bilbao's 1 yellow!
+1
If you're talking about Raul Garcia, he was my least favorite player on Atletico Madrid when he played for them a few seasons ago. He hasn't changed his ways at all since going to Bilbao.
Garcia is a c**t and he's turning Aduriz into one just like him
+1
Only Costa was a bigger c**t at Atletico than Raul Garcia and that's a really high bar for cuntiness.
Still a long way to go if he has to match the cuntiness of suarez
+3
^ If you watched La liga you'd know better. Your blind hatred of Pool and Barca is clouding your opinion.
+10
hahaha amazing what we can agree upon
+2
"Only Costa was a bigger c**t at Atletico"

truth is.. Costa was a c**t who was actually talented and could play.. Garcia on the other hand is a c**t.

see what i did there?
+5
Ok, which cun bit several players? Which C handled shamelessly in the world cup? Which C racially abuses another player and dives at every possible opportunity, as if he got hit with a pickaxe? Who has been banned more times than one could try to remember, but still doesnt show he is changed or even tried to correct his disgusting attitude?
Garcia is a twat no doubt, he picks up an yellow every game, almost minutes after he comes on but that is his game, he is bought on not to dribble through the park or show shiny feet, but to hassle the opposition, get under their skin and give his manager and team a bit of a mental upper hand. Suarez on the other hand is the proper definition of cuntiness and a coward, it would be generations before we see anyone more talented at being a c**t than him
+7
@Franky, before you reply watch and learn from this.

https://youtu.be/W2Rdf0n_Lsg
Dagaza: LOL True.

Here we go with the Suarez racism crap. FA's Spanish language experts actually said that Evra's version of Suarez using the word "negro" was odd and Evra initially said Suarez used the word over 10 times which he later retracted. Suarez' version seemed more legit to the investigators in terms of regular use of the term in Spanish language especially in Uruguay. It was Suarez so the FA was pretty ok with slapping him with a ban.

Suarez is a very dirty player but Raul Garcia is on the field just to f**k around. Defenders get under Suarez' skin and he lashes out in irrational ways like biting (that's more of a psychological problem than being a c**t) or fighting with them. Garcia, on the other hand, is just there to be a c**t. When Costa was at Atletico, he used to constantly try to screw with Pepe and Ramos. I enjoyed it but it was the worst I've seen in 20 years of watching football - this is worse than the Roy Keane/Viera fights. He would spit at them, nudge them with elbows, headbutt them when the ref wasn't watching just to try and get them sent off. Suarez will run his mouth, dive around etc but it has never been anything like Garcia or Costa. It doesn't seem like you actually watched Costa or Garcia at Atletico and your opinion is - Suarez is the worst I've seen and nobody can be worse than him.

He has been banned for biting - which he hasn't done YET for Barca. He has been banned for "racism" which hasn't occurred again. So I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say he hasn't even tried to correct his attitude. If you're talking about diving then there are a million players who dive around which is another problem in football.
+4
dude we know he plays for your team but come on..Stop defending Suarez he´s seriously the worst.

One of the best players around arguably but just a horrible character to behold.
Zidane made some decisions that seemed weird but worked out nicely. Credit where it's due.

Defensively we were good, Casemiro and Nacho stood out to me. Offensively, Ronaldo and Benzema were great.

This game is such an important win for the title race. Your move, Barcelona.
As happy as I am about the Victory, I honestly don't know how we pulled 3 points out of that performance. We couldn't even pass the ball around. In my opinion this isn't Real Madrid caliper of playing. We looked like the underdog. This sort of playing will not survive a game against the likes of Bayern Munich. We better start learning how to keep the ball better or else we maybe in trouble.

PS: I don't think we were good defensively. Whats the point if we still concede in every match? But I do agree that this was a VERY important win for us. This was the hardest away match we had and we still came out with 3 points. Now Barca has to perform against Valencia who in my opinion is highly underrated when looking at where they are in the table. They are a very dangerous side and Barca will find that out I think. Hopefully they will drop points tomorrow.

Hala Madrid
I think you're being unfair. We were at the San Mames and came out defensive, nothing wrong with that. Score off counters and Madrid fans complain score normally and we complain. Tactically Zidane got it spot on, we were solid in the middle.

Also, Benzema and ronaldo looked really good offensively together.
Ok, I get it. I don't mean to be pessimistic and I hope you are right. I just feel the display was terrible. I was watching the game with my dad and he was first to point out that we couldn't keep the ball.

I realize not all games have to be played the same way. And maybe you are right and I am being unfair by asking that we play the beautiful game each and every time. What gives me solace is that I imagine this was Real Madrid's version of how Barcelona plays sometimes when they look like they just wanna take a nap (i.e. Deportivo). In that case, I am glad that at least we walked out with 3 points whereas they left with zero points for that game.

Yes. Benzema was great. I am not one of those fickle fans that turns on a player as soon as they have a bunch of bad games. I always believed Benzema could still come back to his old self. (On another note, I would REALLY like to have Mbappe at Madrid, not sure how we could keep Benz and get Mbappe too but he is amazing)

Here is hoping you are right and I am wrong.
I think retaining ball is down to Kroos' bad form of late, he is crucial to keeping the ball. Absolutely cannot afford to lose cheap possesion against Bayern - Carlo's teams will be deadly on the counter, not to mention with threats like Robben, Ribbery, Costa, Lewa etc they need no introduction...
s2kilnnit(or close)

...You havnt won the league since 2012.

If i were a RM fan i be stocked that your coach actually grinds out wins when playing badly.
Look at Pep at City, they could be fighting for first with Chelsea but he refuses to change tactics and looses points every month as a result.
I have always preferred coming at these matches as underdogs and as we have seen since the draw most if not all media sources and polls have us losing to Bayern. Its now up to ZZ to get this team motivated and together.
+3
Exactly, we've always performed well as being the underdogs. That's why I didn't want us to get a team like Juve
Terrible...we are playing the toughest matches before and after both games against Bayer Munich. First Athletico madrid, then Barcelona.... wtf
whats that? the Champions League draw is no longer rigged? Perez ran out of money? Madrid no longer has influence in UEFA? hmmmm

I love these quarter finals. Every match will be stunning. Tho i wouldn't have asked for Bayern, Barca or Atleti till the semi's, i'm excited and we have no reasons to fear them as they have no reasons to fear us.... or we have every reason to fear them as they have every reason to fear us... take your pick

Lets make this back to back happen!
+3
I think if we get passed Bayern we will win it again.
i think if we get passed Juvi we will win it again lol
Lol I would say good luck but then I be lying (;
I think if we win our next 5 games in the CL we will probably win it. Never certain though.
I honestly believe if real madrid beats bayern they will win the champions league.
Its too early to make those predictions with certainty - the winner of Bayern/Real may still have to face Atletico or Barca, and those games can all go either way. We have all seen what Barca can do, Atletico are no pushovers either - on their day a good match for any team, and even Juve can still spring a surprise...
Fixtures for RM in a few weeks.
...Atletico at home ... Bayern away ... Gijon away... Bayern home ... Barca home ...
talk about having it tough.
+1
Is Real's first game against Bayern at home or away , i cant tell from your comment.
