Going to the game tomorrow so pumped!
Tomorrow starting 11 López, Carvie, Pepe, Nacho, llorente, Illara, Medran, Isco, Lucas, Raúl de tomas, Bale

I think we'll see Jose Rodriguez and Llorente get some minutes too.
I read today that Carletto was like who is this kid Marcos Llorente a wiry, tall defensive mid that was said to have really impressed the mister.

http://www.marca.com/2014/07/25/en/football/real_madrid/1406276809.html

Marcos Llorente is probably the best player in the great Juvenil A. Which is where the next batch of great youth players is coming from and that this season will play under Zidane in RM Castilla.

Really looking forward to seeing him tomorrow.

@Hikmat

Jose Rodriguez was loaned out to Deportivo.

Oh shiz didn't hear. That's great, he'll be getting plenty of first team experience in la Liga I hope.
Monaco has agreed to loan out Falcao to Real Madrid for a season w/ an option for RM to buy him in 2015. [ABC]

RM would have to pay €12M to bring Falcao on loan this season. In 2015, they would have to pay another €33M if they want to buy him. [abc]

god damnnnn. Fuk it lets keep both sami and angel too and do a lucky drawing for starting 11 every week.
Depth just got a new meaning assigned to it.

STAHP IT!!!!!!!!!! xP
isn't he still injured? well recovering? an injury like that plus his age and the fact he would have to adapt to our squads playing style would be a good enough reason to not spend money on him. Not even the 12 mil.
Coolio?

Sweet baby jesus. If he didn't already looked deranged this'll do it.

Might be stating the obvious but I think James will prove to be one of our best players. He has so much potential and has everything you need in a true #10.

"James, not just a signing for now but one for the future"-- Carletto

Bravo Ancelotti bravo!!

I have criticized Real's spending policy the past days.

Despite and having said that:

I am really looking forward to see this Real Madrid perform this season. With Bale, Cristiano, James, Kroos up front this is going to be a really exciting offense to watch and I for one am looking forward to see some brilliant goals! ;)

peace

Must be a record:

The content of the twit:
"Real Madrid sold 345,000 James jerseys in the first 45 hours after he signed the contract.

At around €50 each = €17m"

Unless all 345,000 were sold at the official Madrid store, the club doesn't get the full cut of €50.

Let's say the wholesale price is €10 (low end?).
Therefore they made €3.4m.
Or roughly €1.81m per day.
Actually, Adidas makes the most profit from shirt sales. Why do you think they pay to make the shirts for the team? It's so that they can profit from shirt sales. RM, like any other team, makes peanuts from t-shirt sales if not at all.
+3
@Kaiss I assume all deals are different, so unsure whether Madrid would be getting a cut or not.
Real Madrid definitely get a portion of shirt-sale proceeds. The rest go to Adidas.

Shirt-sales alone won't cover the transfer fee of said player, but if the player is marketable enough (which transcends being able to sell shirts alone), it goes a long way in 'lessening' the cost of signing a player.

James Rodriguez opens new doors to the South American market.
Do the players get a cut as well? Like a bonus?
Well at the Real Madrid store they go for 90€ so we need to revise some figures.

it's amazing how many fans still don't know how shirt sales work.

when a shirt (or any other club merchandise) is sold the money is going to the sponsored shirt seller/maker/manufacturer i.e adidas. they make the shirts, they distribute and sell the shirts, they get the revenue.

real madrid already have a shirt deal with adidas worth 31 million pound minimum per season, which allows adidas to make and sell the gear, then after that there's some sort of revenue sharing depending on how much adidas make from real madrid merchandize sales - or at least that's how it is with most clubs, like utd.

that shared revenue typically is not a lot compared to the guaranteed money they pay madrid in the first place, as i understand it. example united make 23.5 million per season guaranteed with nike, but last season utd got 30-something million overall from nike, so only about 10 million pound was gained from the revenue sharing of adidas revenue.

and i believe players do earn money from their own shirt sales depending on their contract on image rights. if i'm not mistaken ronaldo has 50% ownership of his image revenue, an estimate of how much money his name brings to madrid. the other half of his rights is owned by madrid. that's why, for example, official utd stores cannot print cantona 7 or ronaldo 7 shirts because said players would be entitled to image/royalty payments for using their "brand" (name and number).

from forbes, on Ronaldo: "His impressive performance on the pitch commands a salary and bonus, including a 50-50 share of his image rights, of another $21 million." (this is from 3 years ago, talking about the money he gets from personal sponsorship vs wages and bonuses from madrid)

usually, when a player signs for a club, they cede most of their imaging rights to the main club, which is why some players are very profitable for clubs and demand crazy high wages (their image rights are sometimes built into the main contract for wages in the form of bonuses or whatever, although i think it is not uncommon for superstars to have a separate contract with the club for image rights based on some articles i have read).

@SIF Gave you the thumbs up for the details.

I mentioned I was unsure above because in Spain, EVERYTHING'S fookin' different (e.g., TV quid distribution, supertaxes on being rich, etc.).
And with Madrid, that's even more different than usual (e.g., effectively a non-profit social trust, rest of La Liga depends on them dominating in Europe, 8 clubs didn't even HAVE a shirt sponsor a few years back, etc.).

@SIF is correct on image rights.
Part of Madrid's contract with players is to hand over roughly 50% image rights to the club.

Just last year, Ronaldo sold more shirts by himself (1 million) than all of Bayern:
Real Madrid - 1.4 million shirts
Manchester United - 1.4 million
FC Barcelona - 1.15 million
Chelsea – 910,000
Bayern - 880,000
Liverpool – 810,000
http://www.bild.de/sport/fussball/cristiano-ronaldo/verkaufte-mehr-trikots-als-bayern-35390126.bild.html

Their shirt deal could be worth up to 30m Euros:
http://www.reuters.com/article/2013/05/30/us-soccer-spain-real-emirates-idUSBRE94T0LT20130530

And just last week, United and Adidas agreed to a €950m 10 year deal, €95m per year.
This doubles Madrid's deal at €40m.
