Ok,can we please put this silly notion that Atletico was the better side to bed please? lol

Atletico chances(17 shot 4 on target):

-goal
-penalty
-that Savic half chance (even if it was going on target Navas was there)

Madrid chances(25 shots 8 on target):

- Oblak saving Casemiros shot for literally 1 meter
- goal
- Benzema one on one with Oblak
- Oblak saving Ronaldos shot righ in front of goal
- Right after that, they get the ball off the line after Bale gets around Oblak and shoots
- Ronaldo heading the ball of his foot right in front of goal (great position, more of a half chance thou)

This is just another case of people looking at possession stats(55% Atleti) and basing their judgment on them. If that was the case,we dominated Atleti in our last 10 matches in the league (all of them around 65-70% possession), yet the reality is we were very poor in those matches and we created very little with all that time. If I'm not wrong,we only won once in those last 10 matches,so yeah.

I loved Zidanes plan to turn the tables on them, and for once not fall for their trap and play they way they like it. Maybe Zidane took it too far with Ronaldo and Bale basically playing as full backs, but still we created more. Not to mention Atleti showed absolutely nothing in overtime. You can't create 2 chances in 120 min and declare yourself a better side, just ridiculous lol
You barely created anything before Atletico started throwing players forwards in the last 20 mins which obviously wouldn't have happened without the offside goal
I didn't say we were spectacular or anything like that,it was a rough game. We barley created anything, they created nothing.
Who cares if we deserved it or not - all that matters is we got the tropy...

In a way it's kinda nice to win this way - knowing that Atletico hearts got shredded once more and seeing all the haters getting their panties in a twist - just makes the victory taste even more sweeter!
Just heard an interesting take from an ex-lineman as to why the line-man didn't call off-side in the first goal.

Basically he said that its because the lineman didn't see Bales flick on. Linemen are taught to look at 2 things:

1. The initial free kick and then,
2. down the line to see whose offside.

So if he only took into account Kroos's free-kick then Ramos isn't offside.

The only way he would have been able to see the flick-on is if he had been following the trajectory of the ball. In which case he wouldn't have been doing his job of looking down the line to see whose offside and he wouldn't have spotted Ramos offside anyway.

Makes sense. Once the initial kick is taken, where else would the lineman be looking at if not down the line?
Is it just me or did Ramos not even touch that ball? lol

Looks to me more like Bale scored that goal,Ramos never got to it. Either way, even then it would have been an offside since he was an active factor in the play. A very hard call for the ref.
Anyone else noticed that the cameraman was a little biased? Surely the ratio was maybe 80:20 Atleti:Real Madrid camera screen time for the fans. Even after the final whistle was blown, they kept showing crying Atleti fans instead of celebrating Real Madrid fans.

I felt sorry for Atleti fans there but definitely not sorry for Simeone and his boys
Honestly, i was going to point this out... But i felt they would start making all about complaining real madrid fans...

I initially felt it was like our fans didn't travel to watch this game when the camera crew kept on showing only atletico fans.. But after o saw the stadium view and thr amount of white shirts.. I felt somehow.. Like maybe this game was meant to be all about atletico..

Thank you for pointing it out.. At least now, i knpw i am not the only one who noticed this
even the broadcasters where all for atleti.
Wow...
We actually won it, again

1. Atletico actually did play quite well though they were rough as usual and if they did win, it would equally had been fair.. The mistake we made was trying to defend an early cheap goal; though we had chances, we could have gotten more if we went all out on the attack. Prob the reason everyone thinks Atletico deserved it more..

2. Is zidane the luckiest guy or what just 5 months after taking over from Benitez, he has turned around our season and even brought the biggest trophy of them all to the bernabeu. Legend as a player, turning to legend as a manager.. He should be proud of his achievement cos we are all proud of him..

3. Perez target after taking over was to bring the 10 UCL title to the bernabeu.. 11 and counting.. Its a great achievement. And this guys do deserve it. Marcelo, Ronaldo, Ramos, Pepe, benzema... They're been here for a while now and some even grew up before our eyes..

...I feel really bad for atletico, had it been another team they were playing.. I would have loved them to win.. They actually do deserve this trophy.. Especially simeone.

1. I'm almost certain Zidane was giving Simeone a taste of his own medicine after we scored the 1st goal.

Like Modric said in the interview, it was all about the mentality - the mentality to not give in by playing into Atletico's hands. Notice how Atletico stop pressuring offensively after the Carassco goal? They went back to look for counters and taking advantage of set pieces. Zidane saw this coming all along!

I don't feel bad for them at all after such typical physical plays from Juanfran, Gabi, Koke and even Torres. Savic was their MOTM though, we could've scored more than once if it weren't for him
luckiest? mate he is the best bald manager right now;) lol jk

anyway congrtz happy for zizou
We had a poor game today after the first half's 30th minute... Atleti were certainly the better side on the night. But you know what? Im now glad we won the way we did.

All these little fanboys out here crying about us not deserving the win and being second best.... I can't begin to count the amount of times we and various other clubs have performed far better than Atleti and lost. Can't count the amount of times we've played with possession, movements, created loads of chances while Atleti parked the bus and relied on corners and set pieces.

Today the roles were reversed. We were the ones defending deep, playing off the ball, getting sweaty goals and parking the bus various times during the match while waiting for counters. People didnt give a s**t that we lost then, why should we care about who they think deserved to win now?

Today was Atleti's turn to be the better team on the field and go home crying. I dont feel bad for them at all... congratulations to our boys... Hala Madrid... 11 and counting!

It sure looked like Atletico was the better side since they haven't play like that against us before. When was the last time this Simeone's Atletico had more ball possession against us? Don't even remember..

I definitely agree, roles were reversed today but hey check out the stats, we had more shots on targets and opportunities created. We still don't deserve to win? Lol that is clearly hate clouding their football judgment. I just love it even more that Cristiano himself stick it to their salty faces with the winning Penaldo :)

I don't understand the Kroos sub? Rookie error from Zidane, especially in the 75th minute. We're up 1-0 and you take off Kroos for the attacking Isco? totally changed the game and Atletico began to control things.
+1
@ Hikmat
I thought he got a knock or something.
Surely he didnt remove him for tactical reason... or did he?
We lost the midfield as soon as Kroos was substituted.

Isco did alot of attacking play though, but only Casemiro had the legs to defend in the midfield. Modric had dead legs as well.
Was a strange game. I feared for the worst when it got to ET.

PS: Nothing Barca fans say to me will deter me. I love the game too much to care about silly uncivilised banter like that. Thanks for chipping in though.
It's really crazy how people are saying we didn't deserve to win this final. I must have seen another game or something... . So Atletico deserved to win it. I wonder because of what exactly. Because they pressed more during the second half? It wasn't because they created much chances that's for sure. In fact we were killing Atletico until the late goal from an astonishing playing Carrasco. What made it even better was that we were killing them with their own tactics, we only forgot to bury them due to the missing of clear chances (Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale). We were in front so we laid back and attacked with counters, just like they always do. We adapted our style of play to our opponent and that's exactly why Barca and Bayern went out in the quarter and half finals and we won the thing. I'm not gonna say we played beautiful football, but our tactics were almost flawless. I can understand that people out there don't like Real Madrid, but please don't let your hate blind you. Be reasonable, be honest. At least show some respect. Even Simeone admitted Real was the better team. And concerning Ronaldo... . I have to say he had a bad game, but that doesn't take away that he's a legend for stepping up there and scoring that penalty.
Hala Madrid y nada mas!!!

probably because technically the goal ramos scored was offside (but i think he was getting his shirt pulled so it could have been a pen anyways imo). atleti also hit the post on the pen. also although i think you had more chances, it felt like atleti had more of the ball and were the ones trying to attack - felt like they dominated most of the play after conceding. to lose on pens is fairly harsh. why does the public have to feel like real madrid deserved to win? at the end of the day you have the trophy, nothing else really matters.
+5
As always haters only see it one way an objective fan saw that Atletico deserved to be in that match and deserved the tie, but to say the game was all one sided is being blind to the fact that the game could have been liquidated in the first half by us and Atl. de Madrid could have won it as well with that penalty. So both teams could have won it frankly it was tight game thru out they pressed us well especially in the second but we put up a block like they have done to many all season but no matter a win is a win we didnt cheat and hater gonna hate it is Trump season after all.
+2
I don't think anyone said it was one sided.. but on the balance if you had to say one side deserved to win, I think very few would have picked real madrid. Atletico seemed on the front foot most of the match. If course team's goal shouldn't have counted technically speaking it was a linesman error. At any rate, doesn't matter any more
SIF, you don't nees to sugar code it... Xome out say real madrid didn't deserve it, Atletico were the better team and our goal was eve an offside..

All this... "people would say" and "Ramos goal was technically and offside".. BS!
our only bad point was defending when we got our cheap goal, but that's how Atleti got into the finals, so they shouldn't complain, they where not able to play like they wanted, Zizou decided to give them the ball once we were upfront, and Atleti just can't do much when they have the ball.
Congrats on the win. Hopefully next season we see an El Clasico final. Let's keep that trophy in Spain!

Nah... I think Barca will screw up and not make it to the finals.
Copa del rey though, great trophy :)

Heyy, pique is just happy though with a Spanish double..
well fair play to zidane (and probably perez by extention). i thought his appointment would be the end of your season but he's only gone on to lose the title by a mere point and win CL. very impressive.

and ronaldo will probably get slayed by rival fans because he wasn't at his best today but that hattrick to overcome wolfsburg should be more than enough to respect his importance in winning the trophy.

not a fan of your club, fans, president etc but congrats on the win. atletico did well, i feel for them, and i hope they will get some luck in their next final, but congrats all the same.

Thanks - not a fan of your club, fans, SAF etc but good luck with Mou...

Are Barca fans salty or are they salty?

lmao. Worth checking out for some good humor.

I think its better to not check anything they are posting. And it was probably best to not make this post, because they'll all be here to respond.

^^ why would you care if they post on here?? They should.. They deserve to, cos we won.. Isn't it the whole idea?
