good week. We are closing the gap. Now only sitting 5 points behind Barcelona fc.

The game against Tottenham is important. If we can get all 3 points here, it would really take the pressure off because we would then only need 2 points in our last 3 group games to guarantee advancing to the next stage.
How do you think you'll line up against us on Tuesday?
Really hard to tell with all the injuries and Zidane's constant rotation lol
You'll face Varane, Mods and Casemiro, simple. We'll see how good Kane truly is. Have to see if ZZ goes with the RB kid or puts Nacho there. I'd rather see the kid to give him more confidence.
Kane's getting a hatrick mate

AHAHAHA I didn't know Tottenham has comedians. (; I kid. I've never seen the guy play. I hope he brings the wrong boots to Bernabeu.
Lets just say that Kane has got 43 goals in 38 appearances in 2017 and Ronaldo has got 43 goals in 46 appearances.

Anyway I'm buzzing to be playing the best team in the world, just a shame that Bale isn't playing
Hey guys,

Long time member here. Hope you're all doing well!

I just wanted to pop in and see if anyone is willing to join our footytube whatsapp group. It's a pretty active group and there's about 15 or so of us. Some you might recognize: Ancy, Degaza, Tharius, Real Fan, Manutdlove, Manok,Andres 201, Pejvl, Tokasr, etc. Even the might Pedmar was in the group until he complained his way out.

It's lots of fun. Message me on my wall with your whatsapp # and I'll add you to the group. We need more barca fans in there as you can see.

oh and Leo > madrid

Correction I never complained my way out, get it straight. I made a post and didn't back down from it and decided it no longer mattered so I left.
+1
we still love you, Peds < 3

I would like few Madridistas to join the group chat. Its nice place to have good football discussions. People here are friendly and sometimes we joke around.
Don't do it, they are all mean to me there :(
+1
lol, on another note fans should join as it's a lot faster than posting here and then checking back a few wks down the line to see if you got a response. I'd encourage anyone to join up. It's not about only Madrid/Barcelona it's about any and all team fans.
Pedmar, why don't you just say that picture you posted was unlike you, so we can move on and you can join us again?
Ok, I hear ya.

Its a great group to be a member of even if you are not actively participating the chat (i am one such silent member)... I enjoy reading the ongoing banter between Samad v/s the rest ;).

Perez needs to seriously look at off-loading Bale. This guy visits the hospital more times than an ambulance. Seriously another injury?? Bale for all involved just retire, allow the Club and NT to move on and plan better for the future. It's crystal clear now that neither Madrid nor Wales can count on you. Sorry to say but you should really consider retiring.
Terrible news for Carvajal, the reports Say 6 weeks but it could really be much worse. I hope he's healthy soon, a heart problem for such a talented footballer is really sad.

We had a decent game today, quite dull and patchy defensively, but we're missing a lot of people on both ends.

Ronaldo had a decent game but he's still looking for the Liga goals it seems :'D

Achraf Hakimi is not bad at all, a very decent backup. He'll be vital for a while.
+2
De La Red was a player that had a heart issue and had to stop soon after he was diagnosed. Let's hope Carvajal doesn't go down that same road.
Asensio is becoming a bit too full of himself. Selfish players are no good to any team.
+3
I noticed it too, he could have guaranteed a few goals for us.

The positive I see is that he's full of confidence and the fans back him, with the right decision making he can be much better.
Until then his selfishness has 0 place on this team that's looking to get better as the season progresses.

You have to hold your jaw in place from dropping in complete and total awe at what this man did on a football pitch.

Wow Bayern has fired Carlo. There are times that coaches do come in for fair criticism but honestly there's no coach that goes out and kicks a ball in anger vs any opp. These players have to stand up and say it's "my fault" in most cases. Not entirely fair that a coach like Carlo is fired though having experienced same at us but in the club's defense there were times that his stubbornness coast us dearly in the league with his non willingness to make proper subs and start others in place of.....
A lot of other players are averaging a goal a game or more in the past few seasons but they are overshadowed by Messi and Ronaldo. Comparing the stats of some of these guys to the players of a few decades ago provides perspective on just how good footballers are becoming at scoring a ridiculous amount of goals.

Am I the only one who has noticed this? Am I plain wrong? What do you guys think, agree, disagree, why?
I've noticed that too. I was really young before Messi and Ronaldo era but wasn't like 40 goals a season a big deal? Even now players are scoring 35+ goals a season but everybody is like meh Ronaldo and Messi have 50+ goals lol

The weirdest part is that unless Ronaldo and Messi score 50+ goals a season, it's considered an average season. Where as any other player you would praise the s**t out of them.

These two have set the bar so high and have done so much that I kinda feel bad for future players.
I think last season highlighted this particularly. Not only did 3 other players score 40 + goals but 2 of them, Lewandoski and Cavani both outscored Ronaldo domestically yet both are still overshadowed. (Still believe Ronaldo is a better player than both of them, although Cavani is criminally underrated)

Both Ronaldo and Messi's levels of consistency is what i feel seperates them from the rest of the pack and effectively glosses over everyone else. To do it in 1 or 2 seasons in a row is one thing but for almost a decade each is something many others will struggle to replicate long after both are retired.

You could argue though that the achievements of both effectively raised the benchmark for the rest of the footballing world. Couple that with the advances in Tactics, training, etc etc and it might go a little way to explaining why more players are starting to perform at a higher standard. Will be interesting to see what will happen when both Ronaldo and Messi retire.
+1
Both of you made some interesting points. Cavani's performances on the big stage have let him down and he's had a bad reputation follow him around for a while.

I have to disagree with you SA in feeling bad for future players. Footballers have consistently been getting better and producing more. I have no doubt that pretty soon, both Ronaldo's and Messi's goal records will be beaten or challenged.

That doesn't mean they are better, it's easy to see Messi is more than goals. But in terms of number of goals, sooner or later, the numbers that Lewandowski and Cavani are putting up will be normal and someone else will regularly score 50 in a season.
Aside from player growth and performance, sports technology favors more attacking play. It's easier to score more goals now than in the past. Goal posts are curved so when the ball hits there's a more likely chance the ball goes inside rather than out compared to square posts. Every year new balls are made that have more bounce which makes it more difficult for keepers to hold (this is worse with World Cup balls). Moreover, new training tactics and advancements in exercise equipment helps improve players.

I think small changes made to the ball and other elements outside a player's hands factors into more goals every season.
