Every time I think about today's game, I remember Kaka's miss penalty. I want revenge!!!
how about Ramos's penalty? lol
http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1697656/chelsea-boss-jose-mourinho-west-ham-played-football-19th-century?cc=5739
What a snooze fest that was. Thank God I missed it and only saw the highlights.

On another note, does anyone know when Khedira will be match-fit? I'm hoping we can use him for our game against Bayern. We need some steel in our midfield.

No attacking players bar Ba who came on in the 85th min and most here and around the world criticise a man who didn't have Hazard, Oscar, Eto'o. Should he have gone on all out attack get murdered and then do what at home for the fans??? I wonder if Real was facing this match without CR7 and Bale and we took a tentative approach towards Bayern and drew what would our fans + those around the world would have said in response.

Top coaches know what they DO and DO NOT have when facing a fellow strong team!!!!!

Everyone is obviously singling Mourinho out for those boring tactics, but for me, both teams were crap. Neither team had invention nor the desire to attack, constantly worried about defence. Sure, defensive football wins titles, but it also puts people to sleep. The Chelsea Atletico game was horrid on so many levels, I just hope your game today will put this game to complete shame. Well it should anyway, it's not that hard to have a beter game than the one yesterday.
+1
@Cap
Look, Bayern could have easily thrashed the Atletico team out there. Torres alone got past 2 or more players pretty easily. Had Chelsea pushed forward just a little more, a goal or 2 might have been possible. Likewise, Atletico. Had they pushed more players forward, they could have scored a goal or 2. But being worried defensively, they kept players behind.

You just can't deny both teams were crap, no matter how you look at it. Barca PSG might have resulted in a much better game imo.
Seriously. It's not that I like to see us play more defense but for a game like this, end result is much more important than playing "beautiful football".

I'm fed up with some non sense especially from Barca fans calling it "anti football". A lot of them already forgot that was the team that knocked them out 2 weeks ago. Look, the score 1-0 at Calderon Stadium, they couldn't score playing so 'beautifully' with their best player on the field. And they criticize us (without our best player) for not attacking enough.

With all the injuries, the line up was the only viable option. Hazard is still injured and Oscar has been really s**t lately. So there really is anyone else but that lineup sadly.

When you look at the bench, you would understand.

Schwartzer, Kalas, Schurrle, Ba, Van Ginkel, Oscar, Ake.

Kalas, Van Ginkel, Ake were never gonna play.

So we were supposed to see Schurrle, Ba, (maybe) Oscar late in the game. But we used first sub for Cech. And Terry getting injured limited the tactical options even more.

I think we might have tried 2 top striker better maybe 10 minutes before the match if Luiz was still playing at DM and not CB. Having Luiz play at CB was never the plan. Without him, Mikel and Lampard couldn't handle the speed so Ramires was playing even more defensively.
I guess that was indeed Mourinho's plan, but the players on the field had enough fire power to attack. Schurrle and Willian, had they pushed forward in support of Torres, might have breached the Atletico defence. It wasn't impossible, given that Torres had already made a nuisance of himself there. Plus, none of the Atletico players had remarkable speed. So, both these guys could have attacked and defended at the same time. It's just that, you could tell that both these guys were focused on defence, rather than to be slightly more balanced.
I agree that they could have done better. I don't know why. For these kinda game we needed 30 year old Drogba. He could have caused more trouble than Torres could have possibly done. He could hold on to the ball for at least 10-15 seconds until his teammates came for option.

And if Ramires had done better with that chance, I think the game would have been more interesting.
Lol, probably the wrong place to have this debate, but I just came here to wish you guys good luck. After all, I have just placed a £200 bet on Madrid winning the CL after losing my Barca bet :P
This is one looooong "debate" in our forum lol.
Arsenal and Chelsea fan going back and forth about the game between Chelsea and Atletico....and doing all that in Real Madrid forum.... abit odd, No? lol
+1
lol it's odd indeed

I guess you guys don't give a s**t about the match
^ not really if its just a waste of 2 whole hours on a Tuesday night
Lets forget about Chelsea. Watch this video!

Let's just hope Pepe doesn't try that on Mandzukic

Ok, I know we are rivals in all, but can you and Bayern make tomorrow match exciting? Please, I'm still a fan of the game, I want to be able to see some great football played, even if my rivals do prevail. I don't know, todays was pretty boring to be honest.
+1
Don't worry. We won't have 11 men in the box. Carlo and Pep aren't classless managers.
+3
Thank you :P I better see some exciting football tomorrow, or im coming back here!!!
+1
It was very dull, especially for neutrals. But I think people are forgetting it was the first leg. They usually are slow burners, even if this one was particularly boring.
@RealFan

That classless manager made a winning team out of a bunch of whining superstars at Madird.
He won against our biggest rival after i don't know how many years and restored confidence in our boys.

Also Simeone is a miracle worked for making Atleti what they are today.

Show some respect.
Guys quick question. how funny would it be. Athletico go to penalty against chelsea. and courtois makes Athletico wins by catching 3 penalties?
+2
I'd rather have Costa score a 93rd minute offside goal after he hand the ball and fouled Cahill...lol.
Guys u have to understand something, i am not a fan of mourinho but he is a very good, very good tactician. u shouldn't make ur comments only based of today game. Atheltico Madrid scored in all their matches in the CL, mourinho knew that by opening, Athletico would scored and park the bus in london. since they have the 2nd best defense in europe they could easily maintain a 1-0 lead. Moreover mourinho's best player of the season and his champions league scorer are both injured (Hazard, eto). Plus chelsea is playing liverpool this coming weekend for the title race which chelsea can still win mathematically. So saying mourinho was stupid or his strategy wasn't a good isn't smart. Wait and see next week. i can bet everything that mourinho isn't going to park the bus. it is going to be an interesting game but i am sure chelsea will go through. the lost at home the other week. the first time after 77 games.
+5
^^^I dont blame Mou at all for the tactics he used today, LOL boring game though hell ya!

You notice the people who blame Mou or Chelsea for ruining that game are the people who hate Mou and anything Mou touches more then life itself, with a few of our own adversaries mixed in who would love to see us open up so as to play right in the hands of a possession based side...lol

Why dont we all not worry about how Chelsea and how Real Madrid should play tomorrow so its exciting for the fans and let the two teams do the talking on the pitch tomorrow.
+3
Sometimes I feel like other clubs adopt a similar defensive approach, but that Chelsea just look unattractive doing it, and because of it they receive criticism and abuse. I've seen Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, very exciting sides according to many neutrals, who would adopt similar approaches as to the one Chelsea would adopt (of course, with a few minor alterations), and they generally receive praise.
Mourinho is like the joker. H doesnt play by anyones rules and doesnt care what anyone thinks. He will say one thing and do another. Also he is very very clever
http://giant.gfycat.com/BetterWaryConey.gif

And this is what cost us the loss. A stupid dive.
I want to ask u guys a question. I only want honest answers. otherwise please don't answer. If real win 2-0 tomorrow and decide to park the bus just as mourinho did today and go to the final. Would any of you complain about it?
If we had to play with 10 defenders and a GK to reach the finals I'm ok with that. That's still fair play, at least we don't tell our players to go out there and dive like dolphins and cheat our way through out the campaign.
plus most of the complains and whining are coming from barca fans, it's funny to see Mazza making a comment the other days saying we're obsessed with Xavi when we made a post about Xavi while their forum including himself celebrate Chelsea loss and cry during their wins, every single Chlesea match so far this season.
I wouldn't complain, but honestly I can't see Madrid parking the bus no matter the score
+3
There's a difference between parking the bus and playing counter attack.

When you park the bus, you have no intentions of attacking. You put every men, except for the striker, behind the ball. When you get it, just kick it as hard as you can and HOPE your striker gets the ball and draws a foul.

When you play counter attacking football, your defenders don't go up along with your CDM. When you get the ball, you pass to your wingers and usually around 3-4 join them and attack the other team.
Hm... well the bar is set pretty low. Let's not do a repeat of that ;-). Good luck!
+2
well knowing Pep.. i know what he will be bringing. it just might be worse than today if you guys keep passing for 20 minutes in ur own half
...we just might also see some new acting careers spring up tomorrow.
+10
You probably arent aware that PEPs teams spend the most amount of time in the opponents half. The heat maps for all their games show overloaded players within 25 yards of the box. This idea that PEPs teams pass the ball back for long periods of time is grade A nonsense and statistically and factually incorrect.
+7
As long as u dont do a Chelsea tomorrow it will be a good game
+2
with the way bayern keep the ball.. i think its pretty evident we will defend ourselves when we dont have the ball and attack when we do... whether we pull a chelsea or not will depend on how long your team keeps passing the ball around the pitch... because once u dont have the ball, i see no reason to abandon the defense :/
+5
Agreed. It's recklessness, not bravery, to continue pressing aimlessly when your opponents are not only adept at keeping possession, but will do so with the intent of tiring you out.

Defend collectively when without the ball, press during opportune moments, and counter when an opportunity presents itself. Play with discipline, patience, and camaraderie.
@fingers...

yh, but his centerbacks always create more passes and have the highest passing accuracy than any other team.

whether its in the opponents half or in their own half it doesn't really matter; fact is they keep passing a lot repeatedly and that makes the game boring..

if you want the perfect way to pass the ball and not make it look boring, watch swansea city of last season under laudrap especially at the start of the season.. not peps teams.
+1
So what if his cbs pass the ball a lot? You guys talk as if it's easy holding possession like PEPs teams do. The fact is his teams create create the most amazing displays of dribbling and pinpoint passing within tight spaces that other teams dream of doing. Most teams will try out passes that they can't execute then run back and fetch the ball, rinse.. Repeat. It's okay if you find another style more exciting but to say that his defenders do most of the passing is misusing stats to paint a picture that is untrue. When bags defense had the best record in Europe, pique used to run around the opponents penalty box dribbling and making assists. Pep went further and created a DM/cb variant which gives his team more flexibility in transition defense as well as attack. You guys are actually praising mourinhos park-the-bus strategy while criticizing PEPs strategy as if they're one and the same. Pep is probably the most creative coach out there. Whether he wins another treble or not is another story but the way he invents new methods in coaching and management is unparalleled in today's football.
