Jim Jefferies praised his side's attacking prowess as Hearts recovered from going a goal behind at Tulloch Caledonian Stadium to overcome Inverness 3-1.

As expected, the new Hearts arrival Rudi Skacel was not included in the squad due to a lack of fitness as the manager brought Calum Elliot and Craig Thomson into the starting line-up, with Kevin Kyle and Adrian Mrowiec dropping to the bench having started the 3-0 defeat to Celtic at Parkhead last week.

The hosts opened the scoring when Eric Odhiambo gave Caley Thistle the lead in the 37th minute but a Chris Innes own-goal on the stroke of half-time got the visitors back on level terms.

Ryan Stevenson put Hearts ahead 10 minutes after the interval and Elliot made sure of the points with the third goal 14 minutes later.

"It has been really pleasing that we have been able to score three away goals at a tough place like Inverness, " Jefferies said.

Aberdeen fought back to grab a 1-1 draw in their match with Motherwell at Fir Park.

Jamie Murphy gave the home side the lead in the 35th minute when he raced on to a Nick Blackman pass before slotting the ball past the Dons goalkeeper, Jamie Langfield, from 10 yards out.

However, Dons striker Scott Vernon made up for his missed chance just before the break when he levelled 10 minutes into the second half from close range after Chris Maguire had set him up. Motherwell responded by applying concerted pressure to the Aberdeen penalty area but at the other end Vernon headed into the side netting after Maguire had escaped the attentions of midfielder Steve Jennings.

In the 85th minute Murphy burrowed in to the visitors' area but his angled shot from 10 yards flew high and wide.

In the last minute Alan Gow crossed from the right to Jennings but the midfielder, stretching to make a good connection, missed the target from six yards. The point keeps Aberdeen in fourth place, above their hosts, but it was a game that will be quickly forgotten by those 5,251 supporters who made the effort to travel to Lanarkshire.

Hibernian were left without a home win in nine matches after being held to a 1-1 draw by Hamilton at Easter Road.

Derek Riordan netted a ninth-minute opener and hit the bar moments later, and Colin Nish had a second-half effort ruled out for offside as Hibs were again frustrated, then jeered off by their own supporters.

The Scotland international Riordan hit the bar with a 25-yard free-kick soon after his goal but Marco Paixao made amends for his error in the buildup to the opener with a 22nd-minute equaliser following a strong run by Nigel Hasselbaink .

Andy Jackson set St Johnstone on the way to their first league win of the season before being taken off on a stretcher following a knock to the head.

Jackson fired home an early opener before being felled in a collision with the St Mirren goalkeeper, Paul Gallacher, midway through the first half. His team-mates soon moved two goals ahead through a well-executed header from Sam Parkin.

Within three minutes a deflected shot from Sean Lynch made the score 2-1 and gave St Mirren reason to hope for a result.

But the home side remained in the ascendancy in the second half without looking entirely convincing. The visitors missed a late opportunity through Darren McGregor and lacked the firepower to take anything from the game.
