danilo is a nightmare on the wings!
nightmare as in: bad or nightmare as in: he gives his opponents nightmares ????

i think u mean "bad" but i would have to disagree, i find him to be a great defender. even today vs lille he was very solid allowing brahimi to run around between the wing and the creative-mid position and not having him think about defending. he is also an average player while attacking but he lack the ability to realize when a situation is going sour. for example when he's overlapping the wingman to help with an attack he seems to linger at the top and not realize that sometimes the opposing team is about to gain the ball and counter attack through his wing. but i find that being a problem with all Brazilian wing backs the only player that was perfect (who is still playing) is maicon (roma) but he has lost his ability over the last few years. still i think this is something that should be worked on and that will make him an amazing player that can help porto and the Brazilian national team.

if u did mean "he gives his opponents nightmares" then i apologize for making u read what i think of danilo. lol
NO! lol I mean he is a nightmare to the other team on the wings him along with brahimi insane ball control was my favorite part of the game!

ps. why didnt quintero play?
the coach really likes oliver torres, mainly because he was his coach in the spanish u20 and u21. personally i don't like oliver especially since he isn't a porto player (on loan for A. Madrid with no buy out clause) so we are just making him a better player for another club. but it is what is and he actually played well in the first half of the lille game. still i think quintero is better and gives us more depth and better through balls. hope he starts playing more often.

i love brahimi. i knew what a beast he was before coming to porto but its just awesome to see all my friends faces now that they know why i was so excited to get him lol. he just doesn't allow the ball to leave his feet its amazing and he works great with danilo.
dreamfooty league, join me guys lol

so the portuguese league finally started and porto was the first home team to kick off the season. with a total of 12 new signings, still needing 2 or 3 more players we started with a majority of old faces as we ended last season. however the preseason showed us that 12 signings mean nothing when the passing is still off, herrera is no where near his world cup form and we have a 17 year old as our defensive-mid who lack experience. this game had a few things of similar to pre-season but also other new surprises.
first we had a super ruben neves (the 17 year old) put us 1 up in the first half, he looks like he's been playing football of the past 4 or 5 seasons, he did what needed to be done. still lacks timing (when to cut the ball) but besides that he was amazing. brahimi looks like a star with messi like dribbling, passing and great ball control. on the other hand martins indi was very nervous (but thats normal, it was the first game after all). porto's herrera is still not the same as world cup's herreara (thats what I'm goin to call him, lol) he lacks that swagger, that control, that pristine, etc. quaresma is a defensive beast, who ever says he doesn't track back is out of their mind lol, however of the 7 or 8 times he took a shot he should of pass the ball at least 70% of those shots. but these are all things that the coach needs to improve. the only thing that the coach can't help is jacksons poor decision making but that will come with time and more games under his belt.
all i can say is that this seems to be heading us in the right direction. we still need another defensive-mid (clasie has been rumored) and a bench striker (no one rumored lol). personally the right wing is still a question mark, because i like brahimi as a creative mid rather then a right winger still the 2 main positions in need of reinforcements are defensive mid and striker, so lets focus on those 2 positions for now.
we have 2 players for every position so our starting 11 is never going to be the same, which makes the team more competitive. lets hope that continues to the way we play
Hey, I wanted to tell you whats going on with Jimenez. A offer did come from Porto around last week. Club America did not accept the offer because they said it didn't reach the minimum amount they wanted for Jimenez.

The minimum amount they want is 9mil Euros and apparently Porto only offered 6mil Euros. So a couple days past and apparently Valencia from Spain were reported of having interest for Jimenez.

Today it was announced by Jimenez's father that they had a meeting with Club America on Friday and Atletico Madrid made a offer of around 13mil Euros, surpassing the minimum amount Club America wanted.

I am assuming that in the friendly match Club America had with Atletico Madrid, Jimenez must have impressed Diego Simeone because when asked about Jimenez after the game he said something along the lines of "he plays well,he's good physically,he's strong in the air, and he moves well in a interesting way."

Jimenez's dad said that they are looking to wrap up the deal by Monday or Tuesday. So if no other offers come then it looks like Jimenez will be going to Atletico Madrid.
yeah its basically official, Jimenez is an interesting player mainly because he has an average of a goal per 2 games. I'm almost 100% sure we don't have that kind of money to out pay Atletico Madrid. however, Jimenez wasn't a regular at this world cup meaning miguel herrera didn't fully trust him in the big stage. I'm sad we are goin to lose him but their are other positions porto are in need like the defensive mid position where we have no one. as for the striker position we already have jackson so Jimenez would be a bench player and he deserves to start.

i am 100% sure that porto will continue looking and buying players from Mexico especially after my clubs president said that he is extremely interested in the Mexican league and that he would like to see a lot more Mexican players in porto. so porto's name will be popping up regularly in the mexican press.
Hello, just to keep you up to date on Jimenez, he scored a Hattrick vs Puebla yesterday and gave the through ball for the 3rd goal.

He also scored a goal vs Tijuana last week.

And he also scored a penalty in a penalty shootout in a friendly match vs Atletico Madrid a couple days ago.

awesome thanks and just to let u know the porto president said he would like to get jimenez in porto this season and he would like to continue buying players in mexico. because he believes in the great players mexico are making
Thats cool, I hope Jimenez signs for Porto this season as well. It looks like Jackson Martinez will be here for another season or 2 so Jimenez can ease his way into the team.

Also the Mexican League is a great league to find talent, Mexico makes some great talents and the Clubs in Mexico have a lot of money so they buy many great talents from South America every year.

Just this year Enner Valencia was probably the best South American player in the league and he went on to sign for West Ham.
Hey I just wanted to say that the Director of Sports for Club America (Diego Reyes Former Team) says that they have a offer from FC Porto for Striker Raul Jimenez.

He says that he would prefer if Jimenez could stay for 6 months before joining you guys like they did with Diego Reyes but if Jimenez really wants to go now he wouldn't prevent him from joining now.

Raul Jimenez is 1 of the main reasons Mexico made it to the World Cup because of this amazing goal.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6_K38uYm70
ya, we've been linked with Jimenez since january but to be honest even though i have a large friend base that are club america fans i rarely watch their games. i do hear a lot about them but personally i don't watch, the reason being work. i work on the weekends and thats when the mexican league is on.

so all i know about Jimenez is from what i red and saw on youtube. can u tell me a bit more about him ????? he seems to be quick but statistically he doesnt have a lot of goals for club america (1 goal in every 3 games is good but was as man u fan u know porto had outstanding strikers these past 10 years), and wasn't first option for miguel herrera this world cup. so I'm curious if he's really worth around 8 mil ?????
Well I see this as a similar transfer to Reyes. You guys aren't really paying 8million for the finished product but for the potential he has.

Like you said Raul Jimenez didn't score that many goals. He isn't the most clinical striker and tends to waste chances at times but he is young and with the right coaches and experience he can overcome that problem and become a regular goal scorer.

Jimenez is a tall strong striker who plays with his back towards goal. He has good pace and technique for his size. He does waste chances at times but I will say this, I haven't seen him ever miss a penalty before.

Wolfsburg from Germany has a offer for Jimenez too. Jimenez would most likely prefer to join Porto over Wolfsburg since he is good friends with Herrera and Reyes but it shows that you aren't the only team in Europe who see's a quality player in him.
yeah, i see where ur getting at but reyes still has a lot to improve this last game vs genk he did terrible, but he's still young. however, i do trust my team when it comes to transfers but since julen leo is now at the helm we have gotten players that i don't think we would ever have bought, with out him as the coach. Jimenez has been linked with us since january so this isn't a coach signing but rather a porto signing, so i trust this a lot more.

jackson, our main striker at this time, is a player that also plays with his back to goal. he has been heavily linked with a move to valencia so i can see the raul is a replacement for jackson. hopefully he is up for the task.
so we have signed adrian lopez from athletico madrid. he's a really good striker, to be honest i don't think the striker position was our weakest, on the contrary it was the strongest, even though jackson was on a low last season he still ended up being the best goal scorer. and if jackson leaves we had a great Ghilas who is ready for combat. still he's a great player and signing him for 11 mil (for 60%) isn't the worst thing I've ever seen porto do, so for now we have three amazing strikers, 2 of which will be on the bench. which to is the question no one can answer.....

adrian lopez in a porto shirt

i do think these last few signings are more so the coaches signings then porto signings like (adrian, oliver, [still to be confirmed tello, suso, and keylor navas]). they don't seem to be porto signings because we usually get players that aren't known and we make them known (we found hulk in the japanese second division, WTF LOL) . like oliver he's on a loan, meaning we are goin to make a great player for athletico and they are goin to keep all the profit when they sell him. same thing seems to be happening with the tello contract. yeah they are known players and they may end up beaming amazing but porto doesn't have funds to keep them so we would eventually sell them but with a loan the money is goin to already rich clubs lol. i wonder if I'm the only one that think this way?????????
so the fc porto B has started their pre-season and of the 22 players 7 of them were new. Braima Candé (age 18, portuguese defender, sub-19, ex-Sporting), Célestin Djim (age 19, striker sub-19 for Belgium, ex-Standard de Liège), Igor Lichnovsky (age 20, center back sub-20 chilean, ex-Universidad de Chile), Malthe Johansen (age 18, defender sub-18 for Denmark, ex-Brondby), Pité (age 19, portuguese midfielder, ex-Beira-Mar), Roniel (age 20, Brazilian striker, ex-Grémio Anápolis) e Élvis (age 18, Brazilian midfielder).

unless these midfielders are wing man i feel like we are lacking in the wingman position. knowing that both toze and kaymbe are moving up to the porto first team i think this position maybe missing quality. and this past season toze scored a large number of the b teams goals so i hope we can obtain a few star players for those positions.
so the mighty octopus is finally leaving us. its always a sad day when a player of his talents leaves our club. fernando will leave a huge gap in our midfield much larger in my eyes then any other player previous to him. i am 100% sure that we will have a super hard time in finding a true replacement for the amazing fernando.
i do recall in previous windows his desire for leaving the fc porto which led him to say some really nasty things, however, even after staying he always played as if he was initially restarting his career at porto and gave us 110% of himself. so on the field i have nothing bad to say about him, just which outside the field he had more respect for us.
with that said i wish him the best and hope he can show all his potential at man city except vs fc porto lololololol.

so we have been heavily linked with Yacine Brahimi the granada and algeria wingman, who is a huge trickster. they call him the algirian messi and from the videos I've seen of him he's dam good with the ball at his feet. sometimes Brahimi does take the ball way to far and becomes a bit of a ball hog but other times when he does take the pass rather then the dribble its usually an outstanding pass for goal. so he would be a great addition to our squad.
