Juan quintero should start regularly! he's quality
yeah he's been starting these past few games the only problem with quintero is he doesn't track back, and with brahimi, jackson, quintero, and tello on the field its really hard on the defense. but when he's on the ball does move fasted and moves correctly. so its a trade off most coach would love to have.
thats one of my main issues with porto`s signing this summer. it seems they focused more on reinforcing the attack than making sure to keep a balanced defence and midfield in the process. IMO porto needed more defensive signings than the offensive ones they made.
Ola Portistas, how is Casemiro doing for you guys? Has he started to adopt into your team's style and tactics? Although the season is still relatively new, it would be appreciated to know what you think of him so far.
well he started out with a lot of mistakes but thats mainly because the coach made him play as CDM and he's more of a CM midfielder. however he has grown a lot in this CDM position since the beginning of the season. he caught a small injury in the last game vs sporting and porto's playing sporting this weekend lol and he's playing lol so hopefully he can come through. and i have to say that we struggled a bit with out him. and he has become a porto type player in my eye, he's really pumped when he wins especially vs our rivals. great to see a player give his all on the field. you might want him back but i hope he stays i really think he can become something great
That's great to hear he is giving his all for Porto and he is adapting. It's great for Madrid that he is getting experience as CDM as we have had some problems in that department so far this season. Understandably you guys would want to hold onto him if he keeps improving. I would really like to see him wear white again so hope he develops into a beast and delivers some great moments for you guys as well.
yeah i agree but maybe we can work a clause into the contract like madrid pay half the clause while everyone else pay 100% of it. but i still think neither of us is goin to keep casemiro, i see madrid getting him back from loan and selling him for 8 or 9 mil euros to a liverpool, a milan, a tottenham, you get the point, a team with more money them porto but less champions league and less silver wear. hopefully not. but you guys were a bit pissed off with benfica for selling garay for 6 mil, which is a lower price then what you sold him to benfica for, so the trust isn't there from florentino to the portuguese teams.
when i saw madrid with casemiro i saw a good balanced midfield definitely better than illaramendi has been. if madrid were gonna sell anybody it should be illara. really a disappointment especially since he was such a boss in sociedad
and he was worth like a boss lol, real for sure over payed for him
I'm really tired of all of these draws we keep getting, its been 3 in a row and since we are playing braga next week i can see another draw coming our way lol. we have been really unsettling, where something just don't work at all and that sucks. hope the game plan changes for this game and we start winning some more games.
i think a lot has to do with how you sold Fernando a magala but didnt have a true replacement for either of them and the defense in noticeably suffering more from last season. how has indi played?
he is extremely clumsy which is terrible as a center back, he has created many pk chances for the opponent because he's so clumsy. for example yesterday vs braga he just stiff armed a braga player in the box and it was clearly a pk but it wasn't called. the worst part is that it was at the 90th and we would have a hard time coming back with 0 minutes to play lol. tello is another player that doesn't fit, he is all speed nothing else and its hard to see a player rarely touch the ball and when he does, nothing happens. and the portuguese league is supposed to be easier. and lastly fabiano is such a question mark on goal, u don't know if he's goin to save the shot or if its goin to be a goal. he's just really shaky and it sucks can't wait for helton to return.
+1
brahimi and jackson are tearing it up!
yeah they are, jackson keeps scoring (which is great lol) and brahimi keeps shining more and more. he will become a super star (in terms of football) I'm 100% sure. he just keeps us on the edge of our seat, he really is messi-esk player with the amazing ability to run through an entire team and score a goal.
Brahimi seems to me like the guy a defense would hate...every time he has the ball he dribbles so easily and his tricks are inspiring!. I didnt know he had so much pace also which is a deadly combo... Jackson is jackson and for like 4 seasons now hes been dominating the top scorer table in zon sagres.

The dragons have a very strong team this year i hope no injuries come and ruin the great run kinda like what happened last season...
well we have 2 players for every position which is great so in the league, injuries aren't a problem, (unless both players are injured from the same position at the same time). however for the champions league this is a bit different because we were only able to put 18 names on the Uefa list so it becomes a bit harder to have a player for every position.

but yes i agree that porto have made some great signing, however the names on the shirt don't really mean much unless they can play as a team. and we saw yesterday that if they do play as a team then we may have one of the best teams in Europe. all we need is to become solid in defense because we were easily open in yesterdays game vs bate were they almost made it 1-1.

i know 6-0 is an outstanding result, and comparing to last season were porto didn't win a single game at home in the group stages and was dropped to europa league, a 6-0 win is amazing. still i feel we should keep cool and see what happens vs Shaktar D. and lets not forget in the league last season we were 5 points ahead second place and at the end of the season we were 16 points behind first place.
Thats why i respect porto. I started following porto inthe ages of falcao and guarin and james (because im colombian). But as i watch more and more i started liking porto's philosphy of developing players. They are easily one of the best development clubs in the world.

And every season i have seen the lose their star players to bigger clubs. But every time they buy new talent with promising futures and they remain competitive inall leagues.

Its agiid thing you kept jackson because i though for sure he was gonna leave. Hes been on top or very close to the top scoring list in zon sagres for quite sometime. Now with the new signings porto can only get better.

Btw did you see brahimi in the world cup. He was insane agains argentina!
thanks, thats awesome. and porto loves their columbian players. we love them so much we have put a porto academy in columbia, dragon force of bogota ( http://www.fcporto.pt/en/noticias/Pages/Conferencia-apresentacao-Dragon-Force-Colombia.aspx ) so we may one day be making our own columbian players and maybe help the columbian national team which is awesome (not only can we make portuguese players but one day we can make columbian players as well, blows my mind)

and yeah even mourinho thought that after we signed aboubakar we were selling jackson but he stayed. and I'm super happy about it, he has been putting in a ton of work and as captain he's super confident to do anything. so yeah we were able to keep the best striker of the past 3 seasons in portugal and I'm a happy fan

i was a bit surprised brahimi went to the bench vs germany because that to me was germanys hardest game in the world cup and i think he could of brought something special to that game, but yes i agree he had a great world cup
danilo is a nightmare on the wings!
nightmare as in: bad or nightmare as in: he gives his opponents nightmares ????

i think u mean "bad" but i would have to disagree, i find him to be a great defender. even today vs lille he was very solid allowing brahimi to run around between the wing and the creative-mid position and not having him think about defending. he is also an average player while attacking but he lack the ability to realize when a situation is going sour. for example when he's overlapping the wingman to help with an attack he seems to linger at the top and not realize that sometimes the opposing team is about to gain the ball and counter attack through his wing. but i find that being a problem with all Brazilian wing backs the only player that was perfect (who is still playing) is maicon (roma) but he has lost his ability over the last few years. still i think this is something that should be worked on and that will make him an amazing player that can help porto and the Brazilian national team.

if u did mean "he gives his opponents nightmares" then i apologize for making u read what i think of danilo. lol
NO! lol I mean he is a nightmare to the other team on the wings him along with brahimi insane ball control was my favorite part of the game!

ps. why didnt quintero play?
the coach really likes oliver torres, mainly because he was his coach in the spanish u20 and u21. personally i don't like oliver especially since he isn't a porto player (on loan for A. Madrid with no buy out clause) so we are just making him a better player for another club. but it is what is and he actually played well in the first half of the lille game. still i think quintero is better and gives us more depth and better through balls. hope he starts playing more often.

i love brahimi. i knew what a beast he was before coming to porto but its just awesome to see all my friends faces now that they know why i was so excited to get him lol. he just doesn't allow the ball to leave his feet its amazing and he works great with danilo.
dreamfooty league, join me guys lol

so the portuguese league finally started and porto was the first home team to kick off the season. with a total of 12 new signings, still needing 2 or 3 more players we started with a majority of old faces as we ended last season. however the preseason showed us that 12 signings mean nothing when the passing is still off, herrera is no where near his world cup form and we have a 17 year old as our defensive-mid who lack experience. this game had a few things of similar to pre-season but also other new surprises.
first we had a super ruben neves (the 17 year old) put us 1 up in the first half, he looks like he's been playing football of the past 4 or 5 seasons, he did what needed to be done. still lacks timing (when to cut the ball) but besides that he was amazing. brahimi looks like a star with messi like dribbling, passing and great ball control. on the other hand martins indi was very nervous (but thats normal, it was the first game after all). porto's herrera is still not the same as world cup's herreara (thats what I'm goin to call him, lol) he lacks that swagger, that control, that pristine, etc. quaresma is a defensive beast, who ever says he doesn't track back is out of their mind lol, however of the 7 or 8 times he took a shot he should of pass the ball at least 70% of those shots. but these are all things that the coach needs to improve. the only thing that the coach can't help is jacksons poor decision making but that will come with time and more games under his belt.
all i can say is that this seems to be heading us in the right direction. we still need another defensive-mid (clasie has been rumored) and a bench striker (no one rumored lol). personally the right wing is still a question mark, because i like brahimi as a creative mid rather then a right winger still the 2 main positions in need of reinforcements are defensive mid and striker, so lets focus on those 2 positions for now.
we have 2 players for every position so our starting 11 is never going to be the same, which makes the team more competitive. lets hope that continues to the way we play
Hey, I wanted to tell you whats going on with Jimenez. A offer did come from Porto around last week. Club America did not accept the offer because they said it didn't reach the minimum amount they wanted for Jimenez.

The minimum amount they want is 9mil Euros and apparently Porto only offered 6mil Euros. So a couple days past and apparently Valencia from Spain were reported of having interest for Jimenez.

Today it was announced by Jimenez's father that they had a meeting with Club America on Friday and Atletico Madrid made a offer of around 13mil Euros, surpassing the minimum amount Club America wanted.

I am assuming that in the friendly match Club America had with Atletico Madrid, Jimenez must have impressed Diego Simeone because when asked about Jimenez after the game he said something along the lines of "he plays well,he's good physically,he's strong in the air, and he moves well in a interesting way."

Jimenez's dad said that they are looking to wrap up the deal by Monday or Tuesday. So if no other offers come then it looks like Jimenez will be going to Atletico Madrid.
yeah its basically official, Jimenez is an interesting player mainly because he has an average of a goal per 2 games. I'm almost 100% sure we don't have that kind of money to out pay Atletico Madrid. however, Jimenez wasn't a regular at this world cup meaning miguel herrera didn't fully trust him in the big stage. I'm sad we are goin to lose him but their are other positions porto are in need like the defensive mid position where we have no one. as for the striker position we already have jackson so Jimenez would be a bench player and he deserves to start.

i am 100% sure that porto will continue looking and buying players from Mexico especially after my clubs president said that he is extremely interested in the Mexican league and that he would like to see a lot more Mexican players in porto. so porto's name will be popping up regularly in the mexican press.
Hello, just to keep you up to date on Jimenez, he scored a Hattrick vs Puebla yesterday and gave the through ball for the 3rd goal.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOtSKWndwmg

He also scored a goal vs Tijuana last week.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ak_TejhBflo

And he also scored a penalty in a penalty shootout in a friendly match vs Atletico Madrid a couple days ago.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1CbHxG4oNM
awesome thanks and just to let u know the porto president said he would like to get jimenez in porto this season and he would like to continue buying players in mexico. because he believes in the great players mexico are making
Thats cool, I hope Jimenez signs for Porto this season as well. It looks like Jackson Martinez will be here for another season or 2 so Jimenez can ease his way into the team.

Also the Mexican League is a great league to find talent, Mexico makes some great talents and the Clubs in Mexico have a lot of money so they buy many great talents from South America every year.

Just this year Enner Valencia was probably the best South American player in the league and he went on to sign for West Ham.
Hey I just wanted to say that the Director of Sports for Club America (Diego Reyes Former Team) says that they have a offer from FC Porto for Striker Raul Jimenez.

He says that he would prefer if Jimenez could stay for 6 months before joining you guys like they did with Diego Reyes but if Jimenez really wants to go now he wouldn't prevent him from joining now.

Raul Jimenez is 1 of the main reasons Mexico made it to the World Cup because of this amazing goal.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I6_K38uYm70
ya, we've been linked with Jimenez since january but to be honest even though i have a large friend base that are club america fans i rarely watch their games. i do hear a lot about them but personally i don't watch, the reason being work. i work on the weekends and thats when the mexican league is on.

so all i know about Jimenez is from what i red and saw on youtube. can u tell me a bit more about him ????? he seems to be quick but statistically he doesnt have a lot of goals for club america (1 goal in every 3 games is good but was as man u fan u know porto had outstanding strikers these past 10 years), and wasn't first option for miguel herrera this world cup. so I'm curious if he's really worth around 8 mil ?????
Well I see this as a similar transfer to Reyes. You guys aren't really paying 8million for the finished product but for the potential he has.

Like you said Raul Jimenez didn't score that many goals. He isn't the most clinical striker and tends to waste chances at times but he is young and with the right coaches and experience he can overcome that problem and become a regular goal scorer.

Jimenez is a tall strong striker who plays with his back towards goal. He has good pace and technique for his size. He does waste chances at times but I will say this, I haven't seen him ever miss a penalty before.

Wolfsburg from Germany has a offer for Jimenez too. Jimenez would most likely prefer to join Porto over Wolfsburg since he is good friends with Herrera and Reyes but it shows that you aren't the only team in Europe who see's a quality player in him.
yeah, i see where ur getting at but reyes still has a lot to improve this last game vs genk he did terrible, but he's still young. however, i do trust my team when it comes to transfers but since julen leo is now at the helm we have gotten players that i don't think we would ever have bought, with out him as the coach. Jimenez has been linked with us since january so this isn't a coach signing but rather a porto signing, so i trust this a lot more.

jackson, our main striker at this time, is a player that also plays with his back to goal. he has been heavily linked with a move to valencia so i can see the raul is a replacement for jackson. hopefully he is up for the task.
