So what do you think went wrong in the second leg? I know porto was missing a lot of the defence but something else was not right, the mentality the tactics. not taking anything away from bayern who completely dominated but i think the scoreline reflects a sort of break down of the players..
so porto just got bayern for the quarter finals of the champions league. the only way we can win this draw is if bayern under estimate us like in the 1987 CL final. however i don't think that playing the first game at home helps porto in any way and of course i can't see pep under estimating any team especially one that hasn't lost in the CL this year. in my opinion this draw is extremely hard for porto, but the ball is round and that means it can roll into any of the goals on the field.
I think porto have a tough job ahead specially considering that the way porto plays is very good to pep's possession based system. the positives is that the home game might be without robben. But I think porto has to press higher in the pitch and defend with pace. very interesting draw and I hope you guys can do the business but its not going to be easy
+1
thanks but i don't think we have a chance, it only if we are under estimated where they think its over before its started like man u in 2004. i agree we are goin to have to pressure them really high and counter attack, like wolfsburg did. but the problem is that the first game is in porto and not in bayern. if the first game was away for porto it would put a lot more pressure on bayern and relieve some off our shoulders in the second match.
+1
U killed it. Congrats
thanks, its goin to be extremely hard no right and left back for our next game and its in Munich. its goin to be super hard
You just can't get all cocky and think you've gone through already.
trust me i always see the cup half empty, so in no way do i think porto is already through we played great but its in Munich so i can see the worst happening. don't forget that only a 2-0 allow for bayern to pass. so if we want to pass porto needs to score least one in Munich
excellent game! I had casemiro, and brahimi on my fantasy casemiro specially what a boss
+1
yeah casemiro has been doing great. initially in the season he was a bit rough and some tackles were over the top and should have gotten a few more yellows. but now he's on a role great tackles. and brahimi hasn't really been the same since the CAN but today he was on a role his body movement was insane and that on its own was a drible, great performances today hope its like this every game from now on

but as a whole porto played really well its really great to see them playing like this even though we're in second right now in the league, hope thats not the standing at the end of the season.
it seems that you are using tello's speed to your advantage as well great use. I knew when barca sent him there that he would be used to his greatest potential and hopefully he can keep scoring/assisting porto further on.

Im rooting for you to win the league!
thanks, its goin to be hard especially because benfica is only focusing on the league while porto has the champions league and the portuguese league. (not like porto's goin to win the champions league but because we have more games to play then benfica).
so porto hasn't been proving that we are the best team in Portugal this season, with some terrible performances and some terrible choices (mainly by the coach). it seems like this league may be lost unless benfica loses a few points and i personally don't believe that will happen. but i hope porto keeps moving forward and keeps looking at themselves and at their path, and hopefully benfica may slip up. but we can not lose any points from here on out. so all their is to do is wait, not give up, and see but it will be extremely hard for porto.

the transfer window has also ended and i personally thought we were not getting or selling anyone. however to my surprise we actually brought in Hernâni a Portuguese wingman that reminds me of varela. but the best news came in the form of a list. the list of players that will be allowed to play in the champions league. which now includes Hernâni, Helton & Reyes and has removed Andrés Fernández & Adrián López. the reason why im glad this has occurred is that i dislike the way Adrián plays (to say it nicely). im my opinion he is an absolute flop of a player who doesn't fit in any position on the field. he's or third striker and even our u20 striker plays better then him. the coach tried placing him on a wing and that was even worst. so hopefully we will sell him this summer along with Andrés Fernández who in my opinion isn't that bad but i just personally like Helton better.
+1
hey man how has tello been for you guys?
hes on and off, just like he was in barca. his shots are f****n terrible, lol, even with his favorite left foot he misses the goal a lot, lol. but i feel like if he works on his shooting over the summer or now during practice that he would be a lot better. the only out of this world aspect about tello is his speed, that man can run, but most of his shots are off target so the speed is quickly negated. I'm not sure if porto is goin to buy him and i don't think you guys are goin to want him back so to be honest either he steps up his game, or he's goin to end up in a depor or in some team where he's goin to be forgotten. however, this is my opinion, many people even news papers really enjoy tello but all i see is speed and thats not enough imo
yeah inconsistent thats how is was he became a bit of a favorite because he does have his good games and sometimes is the difference between a win and a loss. also it was good having his speed on the wings just because his runs were well read by our midfield and his crosses were ok but his shooting is not great and even his crosses are sub par. I dont think we have room even in our bench for him so I hope he does well.
we seem to be playing better and better as the season goes on. especially when the coach doesn't put the team in a 4-4-2 formation we seem to get the job done. yeah today shakhtar and porto didn't need to play because both teams were already in the next leg of the champions league. but even though the result didn't matter we still played well with our bench team (until neves got injured). so for this weekends game vs our huge rivals a win would be a ginormous moral boost and may catapult us to win the league.

Hey Luso any idea what Martinez' future holds in terms of a move?
well i can almost guarantee that he's not leaving until the 2015 summer, he just renewed his contract this past may and brought his release clause down from 40 mil to 35 mil, (the clauses don't mean much but i can see a bidding war happen) so i don't expect anything to happen until the summer. however he is our best player and porto need to sell so that the club can continue standing so I'm sure he will leave by the summer. but liverpool, arsenal and u guys have been up on him so let the war begin at the end of the season lol
Seems a bit expensive. Do you think he'd suit the Premier League?
yeahs for sure. he's great, he's like diego costa: as in he tracks back, helps in the midfield, plays with his back towards goal, like a benzema as well. so yeah im sure he would do great in the epl, im not sure if you know but the Portuguese league is a very watered down version of the epl on turns of actual football.
Juan quintero should start regularly! he's quality
yeah he's been starting these past few games the only problem with quintero is he doesn't track back, and with brahimi, jackson, quintero, and tello on the field its really hard on the defense. but when he's on the ball does move fasted and moves correctly. so its a trade off most coach would love to have.
thats one of my main issues with porto`s signing this summer. it seems they focused more on reinforcing the attack than making sure to keep a balanced defence and midfield in the process. IMO porto needed more defensive signings than the offensive ones they made.
Ola Portistas, how is Casemiro doing for you guys? Has he started to adopt into your team's style and tactics? Although the season is still relatively new, it would be appreciated to know what you think of him so far.
well he started out with a lot of mistakes but thats mainly because the coach made him play as CDM and he's more of a CM midfielder. however he has grown a lot in this CDM position since the beginning of the season. he caught a small injury in the last game vs sporting and porto's playing sporting this weekend lol and he's playing lol so hopefully he can come through. and i have to say that we struggled a bit with out him. and he has become a porto type player in my eye, he's really pumped when he wins especially vs our rivals. great to see a player give his all on the field. you might want him back but i hope he stays i really think he can become something great
That's great to hear he is giving his all for Porto and he is adapting. It's great for Madrid that he is getting experience as CDM as we have had some problems in that department so far this season. Understandably you guys would want to hold onto him if he keeps improving. I would really like to see him wear white again so hope he develops into a beast and delivers some great moments for you guys as well.
yeah i agree but maybe we can work a clause into the contract like madrid pay half the clause while everyone else pay 100% of it. but i still think neither of us is goin to keep casemiro, i see madrid getting him back from loan and selling him for 8 or 9 mil euros to a liverpool, a milan, a tottenham, you get the point, a team with more money them porto but less champions league and less silver wear. hopefully not. but you guys were a bit pissed off with benfica for selling garay for 6 mil, which is a lower price then what you sold him to benfica for, so the trust isn't there from florentino to the portuguese teams.
when i saw madrid with casemiro i saw a good balanced midfield definitely better than illaramendi has been. if madrid were gonna sell anybody it should be illara. really a disappointment especially since he was such a boss in sociedad
and he was worth like a boss lol, real for sure over payed for him
I'm really tired of all of these draws we keep getting, its been 3 in a row and since we are playing braga next week i can see another draw coming our way lol. we have been really unsettling, where something just don't work at all and that sucks. hope the game plan changes for this game and we start winning some more games.
i think a lot has to do with how you sold Fernando a magala but didnt have a true replacement for either of them and the defense in noticeably suffering more from last season. how has indi played?
he is extremely clumsy which is terrible as a center back, he has created many pk chances for the opponent because he's so clumsy. for example yesterday vs braga he just stiff armed a braga player in the box and it was clearly a pk but it wasn't called. the worst part is that it was at the 90th and we would have a hard time coming back with 0 minutes to play lol. tello is another player that doesn't fit, he is all speed nothing else and its hard to see a player rarely touch the ball and when he does, nothing happens. and the portuguese league is supposed to be easier. and lastly fabiano is such a question mark on goal, u don't know if he's goin to save the shot or if its goin to be a goal. he's just really shaky and it sucks can't wait for helton to return.

brahimi and jackson are tearing it up!
yeah they are, jackson keeps scoring (which is great lol) and brahimi keeps shining more and more. he will become a super star (in terms of football) I'm 100% sure. he just keeps us on the edge of our seat, he really is messi-esk player with the amazing ability to run through an entire team and score a goal.
Brahimi seems to me like the guy a defense would hate...every time he has the ball he dribbles so easily and his tricks are inspiring!. I didnt know he had so much pace also which is a deadly combo... Jackson is jackson and for like 4 seasons now hes been dominating the top scorer table in zon sagres.

The dragons have a very strong team this year i hope no injuries come and ruin the great run kinda like what happened last season...
well we have 2 players for every position which is great so in the league, injuries aren't a problem, (unless both players are injured from the same position at the same time). however for the champions league this is a bit different because we were only able to put 18 names on the Uefa list so it becomes a bit harder to have a player for every position.

but yes i agree that porto have made some great signing, however the names on the shirt don't really mean much unless they can play as a team. and we saw yesterday that if they do play as a team then we may have one of the best teams in Europe. all we need is to become solid in defense because we were easily open in yesterdays game vs bate were they almost made it 1-1.

i know 6-0 is an outstanding result, and comparing to last season were porto didn't win a single game at home in the group stages and was dropped to europa league, a 6-0 win is amazing. still i feel we should keep cool and see what happens vs Shaktar D. and lets not forget in the league last season we were 5 points ahead second place and at the end of the season we were 16 points behind first place.
Thats why i respect porto. I started following porto inthe ages of falcao and guarin and james (because im colombian). But as i watch more and more i started liking porto's philosphy of developing players. They are easily one of the best development clubs in the world.

And every season i have seen the lose their star players to bigger clubs. But every time they buy new talent with promising futures and they remain competitive inall leagues.

Its agiid thing you kept jackson because i though for sure he was gonna leave. Hes been on top or very close to the top scoring list in zon sagres for quite sometime. Now with the new signings porto can only get better.

Btw did you see brahimi in the world cup. He was insane agains argentina!
thanks, thats awesome. and porto loves their columbian players. we love them so much we have put a porto academy in columbia, dragon force of bogota ( http://www.fcporto.pt/en/noticias/Pages/Conferencia-apresentacao-Dragon-Force-Colombia.aspx ) so we may one day be making our own columbian players and maybe help the columbian national team which is awesome (not only can we make portuguese players but one day we can make columbian players as well, blows my mind)

and yeah even mourinho thought that after we signed aboubakar we were selling jackson but he stayed. and I'm super happy about it, he has been putting in a ton of work and as captain he's super confident to do anything. so yeah we were able to keep the best striker of the past 3 seasons in portugal and I'm a happy fan

i was a bit surprised brahimi went to the bench vs germany because that to me was germanys hardest game in the world cup and i think he could of brought something special to that game, but yes i agree he had a great world cup
