another great, and very important win for linfield beating portadown 5-0 at windsor park.
i was looking at this game as a possible banana skin for linfield, as portadown have been playing well recently, putting a few good teams to the sword, including glentoran.
but the blues turned on the style and came away easy winners, leaving them 4 points clear with a game in hand.
another massive game this week away to glentoran in the irish cup.
linfield have a decent record at the oval, and i think they will win tomorrow, because the glens are in a mess, with manager alan mcdonald resigning last week, and a run of really bad results recently.

great result away to st patricks athletic at richmond park, and half way to qualifying for the semi finals of the setanta cup.
st patricks took an early lead through a close range alex williams goal, and jim ervine equalised for the blues with a 36th minute penalty, both sides had chances, but the second half was definetly linfields and they should have went on to win the game, but i cant complain about the result, st pats is not an easy place to go, plus their club is a lot more professional than the blues.

a great result for linfield today, even though they had no match...lol, with glentoran going down 2-0 away to lowly dungannon swifts, this is a real bad result for glentoran at this stage of the season, especially when their manager was drumming up their title chances only last night on local tv, has ended up with egg on his face.
wow...great night for linfield beating crusaders by two goals to nil, on a terrible wintery night.
two goals from lowry and allen sealed the win for the blues.
and to make matters even better, linfields two main protagonists both lost, leaving the blues with a point lead at the top of the league with two games in hand.
cliftonville lost 1-0 at home to coleraine, always a hard game, and glentoran lost 2-1 away to portadown, which was a shock for the glens and a big dent in there title aspirations.
so its looking good with 17 games left for the blues, while the others have only 15 games to go.
lookin good

a 4-2 defeat at home to coleraine, i thought it would have been a hard game, but i never envisaged coleraine scoring four goals at windsor park.
big dent in linfields title hopes, two points behind cliftonville now, but with a game in hand.
surely the should beat dungannon swifts this weekend, especially after beating them 4-0 last weekend in the irish cup.
a bad setback, but hopefully the blues will get back on track.

i think our next two league games could go a long way to seeing linfield lift the title, at home to coleraine on wednesday night, which isnt an easy game, but then on saturday we play at home to dungannon swifts, who we beat 4-0 last week in the irish cup.
plus we have a game in hand.
go on the wee blues.

great result for the blues today 4-0 at windsor park against dungannon swifts.
three players sent off in this game, two for dungannon swifts, and one for linfield.
linfields four goals came from billy joe burns, alen, ward and on loan peter thompson scored again, hes on fire at the minute.
this win puts linfield into the quarter finals in which they will play their biggest rivals glentoran, that should be some game, cup games between these two always serves up a cracker.

2012 looks like it could be a very good year for linfield and northern ireland respectively.
if the refurbishment of windsor park is completed, making it an 20,000 all seater stadium which will be great for atmosphere etc:.
fair enough it will probably only be one quarter full for linfield games, apart from glentoran, cliftonville etc, you can expect crowds of up to 10,000 for these games.
but northern ireland will fill the stadium for every game, no matter who they play.
im not sure of the exact plans for the stadium, but i hope its fan friendly, because we the fans have had to endure crap conditions to watch our local and international teams over the years.
so maybe better toilets and catering facilities, we dont ask for much...lol...often.
anyway i cant wait to attend the first game when the stadiums finished, and they want england to play a friendly for the opening match, hope they get them.
stuff em again.

another great win for linfield, 5-0 away to lisburn distillery, puts linfield only two points behind cliftonville with a game in hand, so things are looking up.
its great to see peter thompson back from stockport county on loan until the end of the season, he scored two late goals last week, and another two late goals this week, so hes taken up where he left off when he went to stockport county.
hard game away to coleraine next, if we win that we could be well on our way.

3-1 for linfield, and my friends son robert garrett scored linfields opener with a shot the keeper really should have saved, but a goals a goal.
phillip lowery scored linfields 2nd before half time.
the second half began with linfield going 3 goals up with an effort from jamie mulgrew, before keith gillespie scored a consolation goal for the glens.
yep, the keith gillespie that used to play for man utd, sheff utd, and northern ireland, hes out to grass now in the irish league.
great result anyway, and that puts linfield into the semi-final of the irish cup, it looks like more silverware this season again, they never fail to win something.
