In other news, I find it really amusing that in these dark times, our Juventus page has become the default Italy page for this site.

Nobody has actually posted on the Italy site in a year!

#ItalJuve
We are also the most active Italian fan section on the site so understandably this would likely happen.

But still.....#ItalJuve

Let's hope Caldara and Rugani fill the void left by Barzagli and Chiellini.
Italy should learn a thing or two from the French and German, heck even the English. Look at them youngsters, promising and full of talents.
+1
First they need to throw the old c***s out of FIGC and then improvements can be made.
+2
Fat chance of revolution. Take a look at individual Serie A clubs. Just a few, with Juve being the foremost example, are operating on a modern objective.

Not just on the sporting front, we focus on our global marketing and branding as well. Andrea Agnelli is the example other clubs should look to, but they are stuck with their ancient overlords.

Can't do it at club level, no chance of doing it at the FIGC. Don't forget, old hacks vote for other old hacks.
i don't need to give many example

one is enough

just compare the Serie A ancient dinosaur stadiums (with the likes of Juve,Udinese & a few as exception) with Bundesliga clubs stadium

that's just a "crust" point of view, if we gonna take a look at how the league is run by the management
Giampiero Ventura is still refusing to resign after failing to get Italy to the World Cup and insists “I lost only two games in two years.”

https://www.football-italia.net/112830/ventura-i-only-lost-two-games

blardy stubborn old fart....!!
what a shameless human being...the same with FIGC chairman..
and btw he's gone.
Tavecchio is still there, so it's not over yet
He waited to get fired so now the rest of his time is paid. Picking up €800,000 for nothing.

We could live the rest of our lives with that money...
He can take his blood money and disappear forever. I don't want to see him anywhere near Italian football.

Go back to Serie C/D, where he is a true champion.
Even King Bendtner is going to Russia and Italy is out.
What a shame...

Tribute to Gigi.

One of the few readable Goal articles.

Ventura vaffanculo! Tavecchio vaffanculo!
+2
He's not resigning according to multiple Italian media reports.

He's waiting to get fired to get paid for the remainder of his contract.

A coward and dishonorable fool. Perfect for for Tavecchio and his ilk.

wow...i just couldn't process this feeling for a moment..

has been watching International Tourney since World Cup 1998 & Euro 2000, every then & now Italy always made it to the said tournament

now, its a kind of strange & sad feeling at the same time

but, seeing Gigi shed tears gave an even sadder feeling..
+2
World Cup was always special for me. Watching Baggio in 94 was my first experience of the game. Now it's just disappointment.
My first football memory was in 1996, where i remember watching Maldini and Del Piero walking to the tunnel, can't remember if it was half-time or full-time.

Started watching football then, ended up supporting Juve because Alex was the first player I saw. Ended up winning CL that year. Great start to my fanhood.

Bring me back to those days now...
+1
I start to watch abit since 1994 R.Baggio time, but wasn't that much into it, because I was big fans of NBA MJ era. It was the semi final game @ Euro 2000 where I watch Italy vs Holland and saw how the Azzurri playing with 10 men against them almost the entire match and me too start to support Juve because of Del Piero. He was very unique for me in some sense....and how can we forget the Hero of the night Toldo...!!
+1
Things cant get any more depressing. Seeing the veterans cry as they announce retirement this way..

Ventura was out of depth the whole way through and could only rely on individual talent. Insigne constantly on the bench..speechless.

After all these years people still dont seem to get how 3-5-2 works. Standing on the field in formation isnt enough. Even Allegri doesnt get it entirely.

Everyone thinks Pirlo is the key to everything, butforget what Vidal and Claudio did next to him. Italian football is lost.
+2
No words...
going to have watch Juve matches just to see him play now
Bye bye Italy. I watched the game. This team does not belong in the World cup. See you in 10 years after all the old farts running it are dead.

This federation needs a Michael Corleone! Take them all out, root and stem.
+2
What a horrible match! Where to even start. That team didn't deserve sh*t, the subs pissed me the f*** off! Italy had literally nobody that even remotely posed as an attacking threat in the box. Sweden let Italy have possession for more than 2/3 of the game and Italy still couldn't do sh*t, Sweden swatted them away like flies time and time again. The passing was rushed by everyone and service was amateur. El Sharaway? Berna? Belotti? Are you kidding me! Where is Insigne?

Goodbye to Buffon, no way for a legend to go out this way. I will miss watching him sing Italian national anthem with so much pride.
well said..This Italian team does not deserve to go further. I have never seen Italy play this bad.

3-5-2 does not work if you dont have world class Striker and 2nd striker...Im sure Bonucci had more touches than both CF and the back-3 were enjoying the possession passing the ball around for entire 90min. Terrible approach right from min 1
Well, the amount of pressure on players before the game was enormous. And things got out of hand when your coach is as clueless as Ventura with no understanding of tactical advantage his good players could bring to such an important game.
Shame we won't see Buffon in WC again, he was truly the last guy deserve to go through this, but unfortunately when you play along bunch of chickens with no heads you can't win.
What a national shame for Italy!!
+1
I couldn't watch the entire game but tuned in for the last 10 minutes, knowing that it was an exercise in hopeful futility. I knew Ventura would find a way to mess it up- even with their own individual talents, I thought they might scrape 1 goal, but I underestimated how much they lack direction when playing under him.

I am hugely disappointed for the vets, especially Gigi- his interview made most of us cry, and I can't believe this era with his safe hands is now over for the national team.

Pick yourselves up FIGC- clear out the garbage that is still there, starting with Tavecchio, and start building from the ground up. England, after recent failures, built a new training ground dedicated to youth training and development and have gone on to win the U-17 and U-20 WC this year. They have a lot of talent in the works, as do France and Germany. We now have to make the tough choices and FIX the entire system, or resign ourselves to continued future failure.
+2
^ Exactly. Italy need a big reform and set themselves up well for the future. Don't understand how the racist c**t Tavecchio is still employed by FIGC. Italy still has plenty of talent to work with but replacing the vets Italy will lose will take time and patience.
From Football Italia:

"While Giampiero Ventura’s 3-5-2 tactics came under fire in the media, there was an even more controversial decision that hit the headlines.

When on-form Napoli winger Insigne came off the bench to replace Marco Verratti, it was assumed by fans, reporters – and his own teammates – that it was a return to the 4-2-4 system.

Instead, as confirmed later by Insigne, he was asked by Ventura to simply fill in the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder’s central midfield role.

The moment he explained this to his teammates went viral, as there is video of Insigne walking into Verratti’s midfield spot and mouthing to the other players: “In the middle.”

He then shrugs with evident resignation, as if to say he doesn’t understand it either, and says: "Yeah."

It was a particularly bizarre choice considering Napoli midfielder Jorginho was still on the bench."

Ventura has obviously lost the plot, and lost the trust of players and fans.
FFS that man is so effin clueless

Bring Carlo or maybe Tuchel in

How did he get the job? Wtf was the game plan? everyone rush into the box and sent the ball to either Canderva or Darmin to cross into the 18? Where talking about Sweden who usually deploy tall players in the starting XI, how did he think it was going to work. Neither Belotti or Immobile are ariel threats imo, had he had a Balotelli or Pelle then Italy would have had players who can finish from crosses, heck even hold up up as CF to bring others in, match the defenders for strength, but starting two similar strikers, all Sweden had to do was cover the crosses coming in and game over. No plan B. The MF couldn't provide much, god knows how Parolo finds the starting XI and Jorginho is on the bench. Why try a 3-5-2 when his not sure how to get the past out of it?

Honestly if Italy manage to get past Sweden, things aren't looking good as I think another group stage exit is on the cards from the looks. Although I'm still going to hope for the best and for Italy to pull one out of the bag against Sweden. You wait 4 years after 2010 and get disappointment, you wait 4 more years and you get this sh*t!
@Moe: Ventura has literally won nothing in his life. His best achievement was turning Torino into a mid-table club.

He has never proved himself, and it's clear as day now that he's a clueless loser. An absolute disgrace. Over a year in and still playing a different formation every game. The most in-form players start on the bench. Ancient tactics. Zero training.

Even David Moyes can do better. Ventura should do the only honorable thing right now and resign.
+2
i'd been saying this over & over again

the moment FIGC appointed Ventura as the national team head coach, i know for the fact FIGC taking a two-steps backward

While the likes Italy's european rivals like France, Spain, Germany..even England, excel, Italy looks to be heading into the mediocrity.

Tonight is the pinnacle of that. And if, a big if, Italy made it to Russia 2018, hopefully its another coach who gonna stand on the sideline in Russia. Enough with Ventura
