Clearly FFP is going to be a problem for any club, spending big quickly to build a top squad isn't a given choice anymore but if anything Mancini will find a way to build a good squad that can get consistent wins and strengthen certain areas. I like that he states Inter need to get ahead of big teams by scouting young top players. Its time the team scouted for talents not only in Europe or in lower leagues, I think Inter needs to head out to countries like Brazil and Argentina where their are a number of top quality youngsters being bred every season. Time to get ahead of the game and catch them before they get caught by bigger fish.
Rumors that Inter agreed a loan deal for Podolski?

Any thoughts?

Imo, a good deal for a striker until the summer. His not much of a winger or shouldn't be playing in that position because he doesn't contribute many assists or crosses whatsoever so for that matter he should be in the 18 at all times! Dude can shoot bullets with his left leg and boy do they find the net, he would be giving Inter some much needed goals to get wins. I think he would be an ideal person to play alongside Icardi, his got loads of experience and still lots left in the tank to show Icardi how its done.
I think we should all accept that Inter isnt the elite team it used to be and it will take a long time and a miracle to get back to the top. With this mind set, I am at peace with everything lol, but still love Inter as always
I think at this point everyone has accepted the reality of the situation that Inter faces. Many of us are just trying to see Inter can get consistent results and build a better squad. For know things look bleak as for consistency and any European hopes but nevertheless we just hope and wait for the future. Thohir has made some promises and his right by saying its going to take years before Inter go back to competing with the best. As of now I think the team has a good manager in Mancini, if anything he can get the players to fight for him and the team and his doing all he can and now all eyes are going to be on the ownership at the end of the season.
+1
Right on. Mancini just needs time and support from Thohir over the coming years, and we could rebuild something
http://www.espnfc.com/story/2211335/roberto-mancini-targets-lucas-leiva-alessio-cerci-inter-milan

Both players are very good targets but Inter are going to face problems. First off Cerci just signed for Atletico so at best I could see a loan deal coming through but that's only if Cerci pushed for it. Although his versatility is unmatched in Serie A, he can play out wide or behind the striker in that SS role. Lucas Levia is a must signing and I hope it happens, top quality player and would help out younger players on what and how a true DM plays like. I think the fact that Serie A isn't as physical might help him stay healthy for longer periods.

Although I've said it before one player I think Inter can nip off from Liverpool is Suso. He impressed me when he was starting for them and is quick, great touch and creative with the ball. Having another player like Kovacic would help Inter keep possession of the ball. His fallen off the pecking order with his injuries but the kid is 20 years old and staying at 'pool isn't going to help his cause. Many have described him as the new David Silva.
mancini has luckly publicly demanded wingers and a dm but mostlt wingers so at this point, the best the club could do would be to find an alternative to palacio and osvaldo... and bring back botta as back-up... if it's bakalli and suso or other alternatives why not, inter really doesn't have to break their back for cerci or lucas as they have nothing to lose at this moment... not when the team lacks several key players in too many areas... it's not like cerci and lucas will change inter's fortune and besides there is no guarante for that not when much of it also hangs on the shoulders of the players already at the club...
Your right I think its going to be wingers mainly and a replacement for Palacio/Osvaldo. I'd sell Alavarez, for 10mil and bring back Botta the club can do a few things with it.

Sell: Guarin, Alvarez, Medel
Buy: Bernard, Januzaj (loan), Botta (bring back) and Striker/SS

I would promote or bring back a lonee: Khrin and Taider, youngsters and would bring in some cover. I don't know why Taider left, he had a good WC and is a quality youngster. Hopefully Jonathan is fit and we see more of Mbaye because this team could really use both of them right now. If Medel is sold I don't mind keeping M'Vila and playing him more often to really get him fit and see what he can do. We haven't see much of him and its almost mid-season.
m'vila was overlooked by Maz and he isn't having much luck with mancini, the last game he played was full of errors and he even lashed out when he came off!? I don't know about Bernard but as I was reading about some of the names we've been linked with, I was surprised to read about Paulinho again! but then i thought if Inter manage to land him and Lucas they could get a B-team brazil in their midfield along with Herna! and if inter manage to also land Balo with Januzaj, it could be an interesting team... but Mancini mentioned he isn't just looking for wingers that can attack but also defend and I doubt he'd go after Januzaj and Balo for their defending and Paulinho with Herna aren't exactly notorious for their ability to act as LM/RM, Sissoko/Nasri would suit Mancini as MC players and Gaitan/Nasri for winger... as for Taider, he was used as a back-up by Maz and the bpl came knocking after his good wc performance so it was only natural he decided to leave for higher salary and more playing time... I think the club will sell Mbaye and let Jonathans contract run out, it would be the wisest as Mbaye will take time before he matures into a new Abidal or Albiol but he does have great talent and Inter could end up regretting their decision later but as of now he isn't of use to Inter... and Jonathan along with Juan and Nago are hard workers but they won't walk into the starting line up of europes top 10 teams... perhaps perisic and milner are the most likely wingers Mancini would go after and Cerci seems to be heading to Milan so any major purchases will be done in June and during the january window, they'll probably conclude loan options and if any great opportunities arise, where the club would be willing to let their player leave for 6 month and allow inter to purchase them as it was with Osvaldo and M'Vila... not to mention letting go off m'vila and osvaldo would free up 17 mil that inter doesn't have to commit to and medel would surely be able to fnd suiters but no club will be willing to pay inter more than they've purchased him for... and further selling Guarin with Alvarez could give inter 10+7+10+12+15 almost 52-55 mil to work with... throw in Kuz, Obi, Nago and Juan, they could land them selves with some nice money to spend on new players...
The more we think about it you just come to conclusion " Damn Inter needs a lot of work!" Anything happening this winter is probably for the winger coming in and everything else left for the summer. The thing about Mancini is his not a guy that will wait around much and come the summer most of the players are going to be out of the club if they don't fight their asses off for the rest of the season and Mancini is going to be looking to rebuild a squad that suits him and knowing Mancini is got the brains to land some top players.
Tough game but it wasn't going to be easy taking on a in form Lazio. For starters the communication in the defense is bad, players could not keep up with Lazio's players and they looked lost at times. Ranno as captain needs to keep that back-line in tact and together but for the first goal rather then get organized they were ball watching. It was hard to watch Inter defense compared to Lazio defense because they kept things together even in tough situations were they acting effectively and stayed put. Both of Inters goals came from set-pieces which goes to show how well Lazio defensive played.

The fight back was tremendous from the team and Kova goal should be GOTW, simply stunning. Not to mention Mancini did a good job taking off Dodo because he could not really do much and bringing on Medel opened the door for a chance to fight back and control the possession. Dodo can not play as a winger because his just not strong enough to hold on his own, not to mention their was no connection between him and Naga but what can you do with a makeshift team against an in form side. Then theirs Guarin who I don't understand at this point, he gets into good position then he screws it up by taking a shot he won't score and after a few times you just get sick of it.

As much as the attacking part of the game is an issue the back-line is painful as well at times. The winter window opens next week and its going to be interesting to see what happens.
this team should forget about cl or el and players should concentrate on fighting to keep their shirt, perhaps it would've been a great idea to sell ranoch and guarin to juve when we had the chance and brought in marchisio and isla for them! the whole back-line is of tune but it won't be easy adapting from a 3 man defence to 2... also we missed out on players like janmaat and blind and are making due with 2 central defenders that were back-up for the treble team... i thought that they played better in the second half and in the first, lazio did well to shake up inter and scare them into rushing their play, medel offered a bit more stability at the back and allowed kova, guarin and palacio to attack more freely and not worry about defending... kuz just can't seem to win or commit himself to 50-50 challenges! and as for guarin, he should take some notes from kova that is showing some class on how to work the ball and kuz that is good at letting the ball work for you... glad to see palacio get a goal for his effort and the team do well to get back into the game...
I knew their would lots of quality available after the WC but Inter didn't go off and buy some good players. I wanted to sign Manolos last summer and he was about 10-13mil and Janmaat who was about 5mil and both are good quality players but that didn't happen, not to mention I wanted to sign Muhamed Besic (DM) who btw signed to Everton for only 4mil on a 5 year deal. I complete footballer who's top quality, he offers a lot more then just aggressive play and can be very technical.

I just feel while other Serie A teams took advantage of the quality that was at the WC, Inter sat back and just watched. I don't know what Thohir was waiting for, they should have just gone with players that they thought was best for the team and ignored Mazz's demands because I feel like everyone knew he would not last long at the helm. A good opportunity wasted.

Bottom line, somewhere down the road, I think Thohir picked the right man for the job but his going to have to spend at some point. I don't mean spend big on a few players but I mean bring in quality and real quality. You need to have a solid core of quality players that are going to be around for the next 3-5 years on Inter's quest to UCL and going back to the very top not guys that are either nearly done with their careers or are near 30 years of age. I know he said he wants to help Inter get back to the top and go back into UCL but its not going to happen with what Inter has so far. You would have to be fooling yourself to believe that because their just not good enough.
11+4+5? that's as much as they've spend on herna! and those players would've been of more use now than a single player... manolos does seem quality but he lacks a bit for me, he doesn't have the same grit as Samuel but his talents shows from the games I've seen him play... never really clocked on Besic but I'll keep an eye out for me next time everton play! considering thohir is paying mancini 4.5 mil a season, he'd be wise to listen to his suggestions otherwise, it would've been better of hiring an up and coming talented province coach or a less demanding but experienced coach that can get this team through the season while going about transfer business as udi and genoa does...
Well considering how hard the winter window can be when trying to sign players it all depends on how much freedom Thohir will give Mancini. Manolos is only going to get better as seasons go buy but I would move towards another young upcoming CB like Nastasic if his days at City are really numbered and his going to cost about 10mil. If anything that's as good as a young promising CB will every come in this inflated market that is upon us. Mancini loved the kid and was his first choice CB, I don't see why he shouldn't move for him again.

If I had to pick who to bring this winter:
Nastasic ( 10mil)
Widmer (2-4mi)
Levia (Possibly more then 10mil)
Cerci(loan with option to buy, 90k a week deal close to)
Janzuaj(loan, 40-50k a week earner)
Botta (back from loan)
Striker or possibly another attacking MF that can help the strikers and wait for the summer window.

I don't care anymore bring in wingers first!

If Inter don't land someone like Leiva, Inter should look at Fernando Gago instead. He was very underrated and although he is 28 his an incredible DM who was very important for Argentina during the WC and can start plays from the back, take some insane shots from distance and his long balls are great not to mention his tackles which are on point. Surprised his at Boca Juniors.

Another player to watch out for is the 20 year youngster Aleksandar Mitrović from Anderlecht.
that type of player reminds me of hernanes! too bad he lacks on the tackling department... as of now, mancini has been fielding kuz-medel-guarin in midfield, i'd replace all three if given the chance! but who on the market can you find to replace all three? there are already at the club hernanes and m'vila but they don't suit mancini style of play that requires strong and technically gifted midfield players and not all-round players... i'd hoped we got song! he is having an amazing season at west ham and perhaps would've complemented herna-m'vila in midfield... gago won't do as that midfield would lack in strength and i can't think of any special player that would work well with herna-m'vila, except for camacho but ive only seen few videos of him on tube... in fantasy football i'd hope for illa of real and lucas of liverpool alongside herna...
glad to see the team get something for their effort! specially kova that sacrificed himself for the team tonight... except for kuz not protecting the ball enough or guarin losing the ball when going forward and medel's first few touches and passes in the beginning of the game letting him down i thought they played fairly well, would've been curious to see how the team would react if both of those goals they scored didn't go in or chievo managed to put away their chances or handa wasn't so great in goal tonight... easily motm for me, excellent performance from handa! lazio will be a tough opponent and i doubt they would be as fortunate to get two goals like they did tonight against them... still a bit more work to be done but great to see palacio's proffesionalism even though he wasn't 100% fit or sharp he put in an excellent round of work in off-ball situations!
Kova just showing how much quality he posses and the underrated Handa who keeps Inter in the game with some brillant saves. Some individual preformances I wasn't impressed with but never the less 3 very important points. Inter needs to be a lot tighter and Kuz has acutally been doing well lately he just needs to bring it against Lazio because Mancini seems to trust him.
pretty solid line-up, so perhaps no individual errors this time? with this line-up inter should be able to control the game but chievo will surely cause them some trouble and won't be an easy team to run-over specially with inters latest form and result, i wonder if they'll be able to kill the game and early on and control the game till the end or maintain pressure on chievo throughout the whole 90 and come away with a big win? anything other than a win will be a dissapointment tonight...
A must win against Chievo. Siting in 12th place is no good and teams like Sampdoira and Genoa are really picking up points.
+1
mancini usually finds a balance with his team, eventually... but his biggest problem when he was at inter last time was that he was cautious and he had too many draws as a results and never was adventures... was surprised by how he has been so far with this team... perhaps making up for past mistakes? but you'd hope he could get it right and the team responds well... otherwise he'd be forced to make the team play boring football to get results... and he has to, it's not like the team is in cl, where great football is appreciated but results count more now than fielding an adventures team!
His testing out new things just to get a feel of what's good and not. He came to the managerial position in terrible time. With the winter window not to far away, he has to assess all his oppositions because this window is really going to set the rest of the season to what Inter's outcome will be. You'd hope foe a top 5 finish and a strong EL campaign.
they had a great first half in their last serie a game and he has rested a lot of players for the el, obviously the team will need to respond well but we'll see how well they can play the way he wants them also... then again chievo is a though team whom are in form so they will make it difficult for inter so mancini will need 1-2 players to step up...
http://talksport.com/football/chelsea-outcast-lined-inter-milan-move-january-141212128472

Looks more and more like Salah is the going to be the first purchase in January. His very quick and his a good dribbling which would be a good loan move to see if he fits into Inter. Speed in attack is something Inter needs, especially if its someone who's a confident dribbling quick winger. Fast players have found their feet in Serie A so I'm hoping the same fate for him, although his crossing isn't very good but his out to prove himself.
it's not easy dislodging hazard, oscar and willian from a starting spot! not when chelsea had just let go of Mata! i'd even be glad to see schurrle join inter instead of salah but he could be of use, kova would have someone to set up and if icardi can get into position salah could help out with stretching defences... it would be an interesting combo of kova-icardi-salah! but only if they can manage to sign him for the same amount as they could with osvaldo would his signing be a great deal... otherwise, yes he is quick but there is a reason why he is last in the pecking order... but serie a could suit him as he did well in the swiss league and it's less physical than the bpl... but against teams that play tight at the back, he could have difficulties unless he comes up against teams that push up high or are stretched out... too bad he isn't great with close control of the ball then he could be of use against tough defences... but as you said moe, if he has difficulties with crossing, i'd imagine that he'd find it difficult with finishes and inter needs a finisher to take the place of palacio... so it'll come down to how well he could work with kova-icardi upfront... and it's a lot to ask for to take the goal scoring burden of palacio and not only match his tally but help make icardi and kova better players?... i've also noticed this kid called vietto that inter has been linked with, the new augero, if he keeps up this form then by the end of the season he could fetch the same price as icardi but perhaps a bit less since icardi is more of a natural cf than he is... eitherway, it would be an interesting forward pair with icardi and vietto... now if only they can sell guarin and medel and sign lucas and vietto, this team would be pretty interesting... as for wingers, i'm hoping for konop and cerci but atleti overpaid for him and i hope inter won't suckered into offloading them of him and konop has too many teams on him that could perhaps offer better terms...
Salah speed will help stretch the opposition which makes Inter less predicable with their direct play. Although I just don't know how he'll respond to a tight back-line or a tight FB. He has the skills and confidence to take players 1v1 but no point if he can't cross well. For me I would push for someone who can offer more on the wing and I highly doubt Inter will sign either Cerci ( who just joined Atletico) or Konop ( many teams are after). Guys that are extreamly rated like Lucas Silva I just don't see Inter getting their hands on him unless because again, teams like RM are after him.

For me personally I would try to get Januzaj on loan. His got the vision, skill, passing and finishing although his not the strongest Serie A is less physical and the kid is brilliant. As for the other winger I would push for Depay, it would be costy and harder to sign but the guy is young and offers a lot more then what Salah can offer. His stronger, a better passers and can actually cut in and finish. His so talented and would cost a lot less then what Bernard, Lucas Silva or even Konop would cost. As for striker, I would try to fork out a deal for Balotelli in exchange for Guarin. If Liverpool try to move for another striker in the winter window, then Balotelli days are numbered and I know they were interested in Guarin. I would love a exchange deal to take place and resign Mario Balotelli. I'm convinced Balotelli can play behind the striker as well, his not effective as a lone striker but we can even get him to play behind Icardi as well as next to Icardi. He can be just as deadly as passer as he is as a scorer when in form.

now that would be a team! depay-balo-januz, too bad inter won't be able to tie januz after his loan and even origi as a cf would be awesome! but since liverpool bought him earlier it could force balo out of the club in the summer so perhaps a win-win there also, i meant lucas of liverpool, if inter play with a 1-3-2-4 formation then they'd need 2 dm's, heck even having kova as AM with januz and depay on the wings would be interesting! and herna with lucas in dm positions with medel as cb!? eitherway we'll see by the end of the window what inter will do
