Klaas-Jan Huntelaar completes €13m move to join Raul at Schalke
Press Association - 2 years ago

Klaas-Jan Huntelaar was the first notable mover on the final day of the August transfer window after signing for the Bundesliga club Schalke from Milan.

The Holland international, 27, has made a €13m (£10.7m) switch to Gelsenkirchen - joining his former Real Madrid team-mate Raul, who signed for Schalke earlier in the summer.

The Schalke manager, Felix Magath, told the German newspaper Bild: "Negotiations were tougher than expected. I am happy to have Klaas-Jan. He will help us."

Huntelaar failed to establish himself at both Real Madrid and Milan after leaving Ajax in January 2009, scoring just 15 goals in 50 appearances during that time. But he was a prolific striker during his time in Amsterdam, scoring 80 times in 104 games.
