Europe league tonight was far more entertaining than Champions League.
+1
I think there was a lack of movement and verticality in our offensive midfield. We just passed the ball back or sideways, as if we always feared a counter attack resulting of a high risk pass. So instead of preventing counter attacks by keeping the ball we should let them have it from time to time, and then be more decisive when we get the ball back, storming into the open spaces. Götze could offer a more offensive drive and Müller (our main 'space interpreter') could make those ' not totally obvious' runs. Everything was just too easy for Madrids defense and it mostly resulted in strange crosses. And I really hoped for a Guardiola-solution against those counter attacks that is more effective. That was really disappointing...although I have to admit that all in all we dominated them and played better than we ever did (in recent decades), so it's criticism on a high level.

I was very dissaponted seeing rafinha starting, I knew that we would concede a goal when I saw him in the starting 11, There is a reason that jupp never played him in the big games last season. And why would someone play the worlds best right back in the world in the midlefield if we got som many talented midlefielders?

And there was also a mistake to sub off schweinsteiger not that I am not agreeing with mullers coming in, what I am trying to say is after schweini was gone, we lost the mid.
With that said I hope I dont see rafinha playing next week, move lahm back and play either martinez or kroos together with schweini.
Pep makes teams boring in an anti-Mourinho sense,

It took him some time with Barcelona because other teams were ball watching but now good teams know what to do, and he left Barca at the right time like Ferguson with ManU

With Bayen Munich players he has the advantage of switchin to direct play if his tiki taka doesn't wrk but it doesn't always come off

Good game though , hope return leg is better
i like how everyone starts agreeing now that we are not a better team than last season.
+2
I still think pep needs some time with this team. Heynckes also needed 1-2 years to make this team perfect.
Nevertheless its incredible how everyone looks up to this team and expects them to tear everybody apart. I think pep made a mistake by saying that pressure is off after winning the BL title. We lost our rhythm and that's why we suck atm. Another crucial thing is that we lost thiago, he was our best midfielder this season and has that ball control to break through these walls we're facing every game. We already dealt better with these tactics this season. Just look at our away match against man city, that was absolutely incredible. Team is just not in form atm...
I'd like to remind that we lost with heynckes at the bernabeu too.
I do think tho he chose the wrong tactics. Rafinha was so bad. After he got replaced by Martinez and lahm went back to rb , we looked so much better. I just hope lahm stays there from now on or we get ourselves a better right back than rafinha next season..
Lol welcome to the world barca had been living in for the past 6 years. When barca won 1-0, they were past their prime. When they lost, tiki taka was immediately dead. it comes with the territory when you are the best team in the world. Enjoy your time at the top and wear the criticism as a badge of honor.
oh trust me i am very much at peace with losing away from home to arguably the strangest madrid ive seen since the ronaldo zidane days, its just like you said we are expected to rip apart everyone and the same people saying we are a million times better this season are now flipping their stories.
Friends, I like to share something that I kept inside since most of you suggested we should give Pep time, and I agreed. Some guys here might remember me criticizing Pep all along. I remember Georgio being skeptical like I was and I am not that upset we lost 0-1 against Real Madrid THAT much at all. I kept totally quiet since the group stage. People should keep in mind that I believe we're NOT and never been the "unbeatable" team everyone says we should be. We have been a very strong team for the past few years, next to german national team these players were only to be beaten in semis or finals.

The only thing that hurt me in the past few years was the fact we could only reach far enough to be the second best. Last year it changed, and while it was exciting it's unrealistic to expect the same results every year.

What worries me most is the fact that we had an attracting team last year while it won everything. It was hinted by Pep that he won't be "changing much," our team now is mostly changed and we've lost the sting we used to have in our attack. Last year Basti had only started to play his old attacking role because we signed Javi to play behind him. In central defence we filled the gap by signing Dante. That made it possible for Lahm and Alaba to join Robben and Ribery in attack on each side. And by signing Mandzukic we gave Gomez a competition which he deservedly needed. In attack, we had covered left, right and center. Juventus, Arsenal, and Barcelona proved to me that it's very difficult to play against such an attack.

My honest opinion is that I don't think we'll reach the final (didn't think so since we drew United) and it's my honest opinion when I say I don't enjoy Pep's Bayern like I never enjoyed Pep's Barcelona. I'll support my team of course, but I don't think I'll change my mind about the way we play. My only expectation is to give it all and play good football...
After our last season I remember saying that this was a once in a lifetime season. I feel confirmed by now as other teams prepare themselves better for us and give us hard times more often.
I fully trust Pep and I will defend his style because I think he is one of the classiest/ most intelligent people in football and you can tell by the way he learnt German that his ambition to achieve something is really high. It totally fits to this club. By that I know that he will try as hard as possible to adjust or change things to get us back in form.
honestly next game pleasing i hope pep starts lahm as RB and plays Javi CM. Also take out kroos second game and put in muller.
Are you crazy you don't take out Kroos he's one of there best players
we need goals second leg... kroos is good ya but we need muller presence in the box to help give mandu space.
Although I don't disagree with what Ca123 says, I just find it somewhat humorous that a ManU supporter is saying that lol.
I miss GOMEZ!
+5
OMG yes I was thinking about that in the second half. Mario always scored in these kind of matches.
+1
I miss the old Bayern, Last season's especially.
+10
Not that I'm complaining about today's result of course haha. But following Germany when it comes to International matches, I always had a soft spot for Munich.
guaranteed he would have scored today. Gomez just has a natural sense in front of net. His strength in the air and physical strength in the box would have beaten pepe and ramos today.
I agree @ZIZOZIL we dont cut that killer instinct anymore.

last year we destroyed teams and played a high pressure game.
We couldn't create a good chances today and that really let us down. I want to play with our old formation in the second leg. It seemed robben was the only bayern player that was causing madrid problems today.
Gomez is a classic poacher.not many in today's time come close to his level. i wonder why you sold him.
Because he scored 2-3 goals out of 10 100% pure goal scoring opportunities.
+1
well next year we will get maybe the best striker in the world atm
+1
Ur welcome Fabius
Well that was disappointing. We didn't play bad, but like the last weeks we lacked drive to score a goal.

I wasn't happy with the formation aswell. bring Goetze, Martinez next week from the start for Rafinha and Schweinsteiger.

Real is the favourite now, but I still believe we can turn this tie around. C'mon Bayern!!!
+2
Its going to be very difficult for us to turn this around. I agree Goetze and Martinez need to start but also Thomas needs to play over Ribery. Ribery hasn't performed well since some time now.

Real Madrid will most likely score in Munich so we have to score 2 goals as early as possible.
+1
Last 20 minutes was rather exciting. we are not decisive as we were last year. we need to fix our desire to finish and score goals
I thought about that too. Ribery was shocking.
But still I hope/feel he will play much better in the return leg. Like against United.
@robbery if Madrid scores in Munich we need at least 3 goals :(
+1
Game reminded me of the van Gaal era... Lots of posession but no real clue how to break through the opponent's defense. Our game fancy but waaay too static and slow.. Every chance for a counter sacrificed for the purpose of reorganizing the midfield.

Last year's secret was the tempo and the drive to score. We surely lack of that this year (although I whitnessed a glimpse against ManUtd after their opening goal).

Ribery is clearly not in form.. Also, Boateng is a good defender but once again proving to be too slow. Rafinha shouldnt start imo.. And Goetze needs to step it up next season.. Remember all the fuss about him when he joined us? People actually called him "german Messi"... He still has a lot of proving to do..

Anyway, only thing that keeps me from believing that this tie isnt over yet, is the fact that Real traditionaly sucks when they play against us in our stadium. And hopefully the loss in Bernabeau will be the ultimate wake up call to release our full strength!

We need to score the first goal... See you next week
+1
@Ramin

I know thats why I said we need to score 2 goals early so that if Madrid do score we have enough time to comeback.

But its not going to be easy since we are struggling to break through the defense.
+1
wonderful game between two powerhouses cant wait for return leg.
Great game! Can't wait until the next leg!
