Townsend has received a lot of criticism in recent season, I myself included in giving my own fair share of abuse; this article puts things into perspective:

http://thepremierleagueowl.com/tottenhams-andros-townsend-and-the-misleading-assumptions-about-player-age/

Wow... he has played quite a small amount of games...
Everyone should read this
Can anyone explain the third party owner ship to me? I have been reading some articles on it, but it is still confusing to me. I understand it helps clubs with "paying?". What does the economic rights thing have anything to do with things? Would it be possible to get rid of this complex issue at all?
What happens is basically investors will help to fund a young player by paying for their expenses such as training or accommodation. Basic business is that they will want a return on their investment, and that comes when they are up for sale. Investors will have "economic rights" to the player as they are the reason they have developed at all. This is where all the problems arise because quite simply greed steps in when there are multiple parties trying to get as much money as possible.

It does not exist in the Premier League as it has been banned, but it is common practise elsewhere with teams who are not financially strong enough to compete properly unless 3rd party exists. As it is banned in the Premier League, you cannot purchase players who have 3rd party ownerships, so therefore, whoever the 3rd party is, must be bought out.
Great quotes from Townsend. Man of the upcoming season I reckon (heard it here first) :)

Don't hold your breath mate, I've been saying the same thing for the last 3 seasons now. sigh...

Let's hope this is his year!
if you're having a rough day, watch this :p

Hearing rumours that we've offered 24M for Fellaini + Hernandez.

I'd actually like this to happen. (I think Fellaini's being wasted at Man United, during his Everton days, he was solid.) 24M for Fellainin + Hernandez is definitely better than 20M-27M for Schnerbdbsahbdalin(can't spell his name)

What're your thoughts, guys?
2 for one would be better of course. But I doubt United will sell for that cheap.
Fellaini's a thug. I'm cool with Chicharito, but where does that leave Bobby? They're too similar for both to have decent amount of game-time.
I'd be all for it, sounds to good to be true tho hah. Obviously that would definitely mean someone would have to make way . . I see a good group of the squad have made the trip to Cyprus for the europa league qualifier. Does look as If Poch will take it seriuosly, Sandro and Holtby have travelled as well. . seems very unlikely
@TheBatman Disagree, Van Gaal and the board will have no problem shipping them both off for cheap as they need to re-shape the team and Van Gaal doesn't rate either of them. Fellaini was never worth the money they bought him for as Moyes was desperate and massively overspent. Hernandez has failed to establish himself for 3rd season.

However, I don't see them making a difference to our team. Fellaini was solid in his Everton days, but we got Dembele who is a better player than Fellaini is, if we can't find a use for Dembele in our team, Fellaini is an even bigger waste of a transfer. And I hate the way he plays, he is a dirty cheat and makes ridiculous unnecessary fouls which is detriment to the way Poch wants our team to play.

I would like Hernandez, super quick and a real goal poacher. However, we aren't in the Champions league and are not title contenders, we have no use for 4 strikers. Shifting Adebayor isn't an option and I don't want to lose out on Soldado or hinder the development of Kane.

24m better spent elsewhere imo.
+2
NO NO NO! I would rather keep our current players than waste 24m on players who won't improve our team. Monetarily, that deal is better than the Scneiderlin deal but neither of those players(maybe, a bit harsh on Chicha) will be an improvement.
+1
No thanks. I don't think either of them are an improvement and would rather spend that money on a CB and LW :D
Capoue to establish himself as an important regular in our starting XI this season. Thoughts..?
I honestly believe Capoue to be the best CDM we have currently. Obviously he hasn't shown it yet but I think he is technically better than Sandro. He has greater pass range and accuracy and despite his poor performances in the CB role, is very good at tackling/interceptions.

The main issue is whoever can remain fit for the whole season. I don't think Sandro can do it, my money would be on Capoue to be #1 CDM, paired with someone else who will play box-to-box.
Completely agree FayJay. Capoue's fitness was the only thing holding him back last season. I'd like to see him teamed with Dembele actually (imagine a forward-passing, trigger-happy Dembele under Pochettino).
Yeah. He's ice cold in the center of the park.
Call it then. And Spurs' player of the 14/15 season iiiiis..??

Lloris for me.

waaait a minute.. thats an old thread.. really gotta start reading stuff properly.
sht, just realised there is a thread for this stuff already! I really gotta start venturing right a bit more.
Is there a thread for that already? :O

Anyways, I will go with Vertonghen. :)
Townsend
Eric Dier at CF.
Had no idea that Schneiderlin was French..

Anyways, rumours heating up again.

Would love to have 1 CB in before deadline day.

Got a bad feeling that Holtby and Sandro's going to be sold, which is sad because they're fan faves :(

COYS!
I still don't see it happening, unless Holtby + cash? I think they'd be smarter keeping him especially after signing that bumper contract, it's not like they have to sell and I somehow can't see us meeting their asking price. Going on how much they let the other Southampton players went for, he'd have to be 20+ which I think's fair enough but I just can't see us paying that much. .

I can see Sandro going tho.
His role was a bit different against Liverpool IMO. A lot more all-round game this season from him and he will be worth even more to them. Will be really surprised if they sell him.
I could see Sandro, but I would be surprised at Holtby going - unless Paulinho and Dembele have really turned it on in training and look to push Lewlew further away from 1st team.
I can't see Holtby going.. my evidence for this is as follows:

Gut.

Right guys the first week is finished so it's time to declare who you are in the fantasy footy league! some are obvious from the names but others not so much.
Post who you are in the Fantasy footy forum on the right ------>

Loads of people in both the leagues. Fun stuff :D

Got a pathetic start to the league though :(
Marathon not a sprint, and all that.
I am in only one of the leagues. 65pt start. James f*****g Collins was in my line-up. No idea how he managed to sneak in.. :P
Hey lads, I've been following this forum for 2-3 years, finally got to making an account :) Im in the FPL League too, 54 Points to start :/

+2
good to hear from ya, Holtby. Welcome. Following for a few years... Bit pervy ;-)
+2
Lol. A bit Pervy? Fits right into this bunch of misfits :D
+1
Haha! Mag, very true. :P
what are the relevant codes again??

My 3 top scoring players were all arsenal players.. I feel disgusting right now.
Check the forum on the right hippy --->
My name is on it,you know my real identity now though, lol
+1
Haha mine too! Prepare to get trolled, sir.
@Spurshippy: 3 ARSENAL players?! I bet you finish 4th
My rule of fantasy league...

No Arsenal players, always maximum spurs players in the squad.

It's no surprise that I did pretty poorly last season.
