Well, I missed the game. It wasn't a surprise as it was on at 5 30 AM my time and I was working all the way till 2 30 AM. I'm looking to LockStock to provide a fullgame video somehow :D
No worries, If I find a link for the second half I'll send it your way. Oh man this site has problems haha

@Kalopsia. Thanks a lot. :)

English commentary link, if any. I know I am asking for too much. :P
Is there any wonder that even those like me who want to stay away keep coming back to this board? You lot are absolutely brilliant. Cheers Kalopsia! I can do without the commentary, usually s**t anyway :D
I watched that half so far. And there are things that I like and things that I'm going to keep an eye out for. I like Lamela's finishing and first touch, but I'm worried about his positioning. Eriksen had a very tough time because of his roaming, as did Soldado. He went everywhere and the rest of the team had to work extra time to make up for that. I'm happy with Soldado, Lennon, Kaboul, Davies. all of them put in a good shift and worked hard for the team.

And how pleasing is it to see 3 successful crosses from the LB in one half of the game?!
@MAg: I think Poch prefers the front 4 to float around. I agree that Eriksen had a tough time. It was his 1st appearance this season. That could be another possible reason. I won't be taking anything substantial from these early friendlies. The Final friendly against Schalke might be a far truer gauge of how the team will set up in the early matches.
Little late but congrats on getting Davis and Vorm.
Cheers mate.
Townsend! great finish! 3-2 Spurs!
It was a great finish, but his crossing has been poor. Lots of balls sent way over the box.
Yeah I agree, definitely something he needs to work on. Looked lively though, made some really good driving runs from the middle of the park.
Give him time to get used to playing on the left. We know he has a good left foot, just has to get used to playing over there
I'd like to see him drive right to the by line, either square the ball across goal or cut it back. You see him get in these really wide positions but he doesn't seem to have the technique to pick a player out in those really wide area's. .

It does hi light our need for another top CB imo tho, If Kaboul could stay fit that'd be a huge bonus but if he can't I just don't know who'd pair with Verts and do well. We will con seed more goals this season with Daws at the back, the pace of the game has gotten away from him (Meant to be below Mag)
I'll keep to the principle of not being too critical of players in pre-season. They're told to try new things, and the likes of Dawson, Rose and Townsend have more to prove and learn than anyone else in the team. As long as they pick up where they are making mistakes on and work towards improving that, I'm happy. Remember guys, these are nothing but glorified practice sessions.
That's the thing with Rose and Townsend, though. Going by last season's performances, they don't seem to even recognize their mistakes/shortcomings.

Now, whenever I see Rose initiate a tackle, I call foul before there's even contact. Townsend wasn't that bad, but like you said, it's a glorified training session. He'll f**k up soon enough. LOL
Dawson has to go, he's not up to standard anymore. Sitting off defenders, not marking anyone
Watch that second goal, wtf is Dawson doing. .
We've played well in the first half,I'm enjoying this alternating behind soldado but he hasn't looked bright at all,I want to see lane come on and have a shot,so strange seeing Lennon moving about behind the striker, haven't seen that for quite some time, lamela has looked brilliant,it's a friendly but probably his best half in a spurs shirt to date, really enjoying watching us again and really impressed with pochs work so far
Davies has looked bright too, considering he's only had 1 training session with us

But But but! A striker is there to score goals! How dare he try to pass. Awful decision making. We need a striker who will score goals and stay out of the rest of the play.

I like how an ST seems to hold the same meaning as it did back in 1970. The game has evolved since then. It isn't about just taking the ball and having a shot for the striker, but to be aware of who's around him and bring them into play if they are in better positions to shoot.

Soldado was involved in both goals. Lamela scored both of them. To do that in 45 minutes and still be labeled as "not bright"...

Very tidy first half COYS!
Lamela!!! 2-0 Spurs great build up play agin. Both from similar angles, great finish!
wow first 10 mins looking very sharp! Lamela looking to get involved early on
I'm liking Davies really pushing down the left. It seems like we're really focusing down that side. Seeing a weakness, or just testing out what we can do with Davies?
+1
He just seems a lot more assured in his play than Rose does. He's a got better first touch than Rose and positions himself miles better than Rose. Looks very classy!
Lamela!!! get in son! 1-0 Spurs! great build up play

team v Toronto FC: Friedel, Naughton, Kaboul, Veljkovic, Davies, Capoue, Mason, Lamela, Lennon, Eriksen, Soldado.
Looking forward to seeing what Davies looks like in lilywhite. Glad he's able to start tonight.
