did anyone see keane when he came on? like at all? lol. i think we would have been better off with a midfielder like herrera. but of course, keane had to be rewarded for his performance, but i don't think that was the right call. easier said in hindsight though.

depay coming on, i think he had some decent chances. unfortunately he wasted them all. he did create one decent opening, which was smashed into a sunderland player and wasted. apparently martial was less influential on the right. was he much better in the first half? yes i know he scored, but how was his overall play?
Yes. Martial was much better in the first half but Sunderland parked the bus after they scored. That helped us dominate possession. In the second half we crumbled because Sunderland came out and played.
Keane was on for 5 minutes, I don;t think its fair to make a judgement based on that ridiculous substitution. We should have put the game t sword after we equalizer by putting on another striker to complement Rooney but we stuck with two defensive mids and paid the price.
oh shoot, i forgot how long he was on. yeah idk what he was supposed to do in 5 minutes. i guess technically closer to 10 with stoppage time.
Saw someone comment on that "relegation teams like sunderland" are what we used to beat. The financial landscape of the BPL has changed so much that teams like stoke and sunderland are no longer relegation teams. The reality is that these BPL midtable teams have enough financial muscle as any italian clubs lol.

Having said that, I dont get why we are just not purchasing enough players in recent seasons. Even SAF used to buy alot of players with potential that turned out to be average players. For every ronaldo there was a bebe. For every carrick there was a Djemba Djemba.

Our squad is now too thin.
LVG likes small squads and he intentionally kept the squad thin.
Which never works.
+1
he would argue that is why youth players have a chance in the first team but top clubs like barca have 2 quality players for each position..and they can still incoporate youth into the team
He just using the youth for his mistake n error.if we got enough quality player we still can use these kid when we are winning comfortably n leading opponent.for us right now we saw many youth got chance were come from defender where our luck with injury is shett as usual.if not these kid still never get chance to impress lvg the like of pereira wilson will keane n others..
I agree that throwing young players in and asking them to perform regularly in not fair on them. When Ronaldo came in we had Giggs, Scholes, RVN etc. You have to protect young players and LVG is not doing it because of one reason or other. LVG's squad management has been a big reason for our shortcomings this season.
@Zhenwei, This is first time we have a quality bench strength during Barca domination period. During Pep era we used to have best 11 not best squad.

Pep always liked to work with small squad and fill the bench with promoted academy players , he didnt like to rotate the starting 11 and its only after Enrique's appointment and his crazy rotation policy we started to buffer our bench strength.

Pep was succesful with less rotation at barca thanks to our superb medical team.
He threw kids into the wild before and it worked for some, thats why he keep doing it again. Stubborn old man just have different ways of doing things, and it failed this time.
Every other epl team improved in the winter transfer, expect us. After that December form we should have at least got in a striker and a defender, but all we manager were a bunch of chicken sponsors. Yes the sponsors are going to save the team's performance on field.

Even arsenal got that dm kid Elneny, virtually every other mid table team got in a bunch of players. Out bloody logic is that quality players aren't available in winter. Well for our performance quality players won't we available in the summer as well, so why don't we just get backup players?

Instead we will try to bid for Neymar and Muller and wait for the media to turn our club into a circus. All we needed this winder was a backup Rb, a backup CB because playing Blind in CB is the most ridiculous decision ever, and a striker. If we weren't able to find these players it's because our scouts are a joke too.
what do you mean? sunderland IS in the relegation zone. Lol. but yes, all teams in the bottom are tough on their day, except maybe villa lol.

but yeah it's these bottom sides we are really struggling to beat. they sit back and hit us on the break, or hit us from set pieces. we seem to have better luck playing against the stronger sides. we were saying as much before the game. teams like bournemouth, norwich, and now sunderland. if we beat these teams we would be well into the top 4.

such a mess, and so frustrating.

and LvGoal i think most of us knew that if we didnt make significant reinforcements in january that we would be screwed for top 4. reality settling in now. we are just not strong enough. i only watched the second half but we made scant chances, all of which were wasted. we need more senior attacking players. if mata or rooney are not on form then we are relying on inconsistent youngsters. strange though since spurs have a younger side than us, but perhaps their inconsistency was rooted out in the last year and ours will start performing more regularly in 1-2 seasons. who knows.

A slightly good news from the other side, Gary Neville won his first league game with Valancia, 2-1.
This is probably the best masterpiece so far I read this season:

"Manchester United fans want Gary Neville to replace Louis van Gaal after first Valencia La Liga win"

http://metro.co.uk/2016/02/13/manchester-united-fans-want-gary-neville-to-replace-louis-van-gaal-after-first-valencia-la-liga-win-5680849/#ixzz405nhpaJd

saw the replays... at least the mastella fans are behind their team. passionate celebrations.
Well to be honest he had to win against the bottom club. Not sure how much the fans are behind the team and g. Nev : just last week they were abusing him when he was alighting the team bus.

Hope this is the start of a good run for them
What happened to Herrera? Why the fack does he not get game time im never understanding. Looks like he will have to leave if he has to revive his career
He will only play if lvg switch mata back to right wing.he also preffer 2dm carrick n fellaini or bastian.plus morgan also rarely play under him where he is a beast at soton..
Watch FC Midtjylland play like Barcelona in CL final
Scary trip away to the nords. hope they don't THORoughly rape our mickey mouse team
Vikings!
thats fine we'll just play our reserve defenders and hope for the best. we are really in deep s**t in the league, top 4 is all but gone now. we will probably need to win europa to get into CL. missing CL will be a huge blow in landing any top players this summer. also, it would be the final nail in the coffin for LvG, missing CL is just not acceptable, unfortunately.
Manchester United have dropped 25 points of a possible 45 in their 15 matches against bottom half clubs this season. Fans brag about van gaals record against the top sides, the reason his been a failure is because it his record against smaller teams.
Nothing new really, expected to be honest. Still cant get how LVG is in this club.

I've been asking the same question since the Bournemouth defeat , the damage as done then
+1
His reputation is saving his ass, everyone still thinks he is miraculously going to bring us trophies and league titles.
Why not fire him now instead of waiting until the end of the season? I don't understand that
We did the same with moyes lol.
We've picked up our usual injury to a full back this week. Darmian has dislocated his shoulder will be out for a few weeks.
+1
Few months rather, Rojo picked up a dislocated shoulder and hasnt featured since then.

Out squad is made of glass
We used to not only beat teams but completely over run them. Now even relegation teams disrespect us and even beat us. Times are tough, something has to be done. This season seems to be over for the title. The top 4 seems very hard now, however we have to finish inside the last four otherwise good players won't like to come to our club.
+2
With the right man at the helm and enough wages to offer, we can get good players. Whilst the performances on the pitch are atrocious, I think the club's hierarchy are starting to take actions.

Possible news of a director of football, news of Mourinho coming in and now our long term youth coach was let go as the academy looks to be revamped.
+1
Even if good players come its turning into a muppet show, look at snake, he coudlnt make a pass while he was here - kept loosing the ball, Darmian - He look a top player when he arrived but now looks like a shadow of that player. Getting bullied by measly wee tyneside club leftbacks like today, Schneiderlin - where is that guy who played for Southampton last season, Depay (i won't even go there).

Something must be really wrong at the grassroot level of our management structure.

THANK GOD Martial has atleast has lived up to expectations, but right now he looks too good for the squad and if we dont improve its only a matter of time before European clubs come knocking at the door for him.
If City, Arsenal and Spurs can win their upcoming games then we are looking at a 9/10 point gap for a top 4 place, that is without mentioning Leicester who this deep into the season are clearly no fluke.

Its the middle of February, there is only 12 games left for us now, that would be an exceptionally difficult gap to close, I just do not see any of the current top 4 slipping up enough to allow us back in.

This is a s**t situation, I want Van Gaal gone in the summer but I was hoping we might nick a top 4 spot to set us up for summer recruiting both for a new manager and new players.

I think we're f****d tbh, we really needed to consolidate this season after securing CL football last season but we've just gone right back to the Moyes era. I think it will be like this for a long time, a merry go round of managers and wasted money, clubs in a bad state... on the pitch anyway.
+3
It was obvious since December when we went on that horrible Christmas run (our worst form in decades) that top 4 would be out of our reach.
