So is this Joshua Bohui kid from our Academy any good? Anyone seen him play?
Our kids team are near the bottom of the youth league, not sure whats going wrong there
Apparently england u21 are competing with other nations to get him. Ain't heard of him before but he must be good
Now that we're short of midfielders will Mourinho know trust the youth? I think not.
+2
Do we really want to replace Carrick with someone from the academy or would you rather have a more 'ready' player from elsewhere and use the academy to build up the squad depth?

Will you be happy with having academy players playing a squad role until they are ready? I think not.
Fosu
Fosu-Mesiah, ez
Hell nah, this is mourinho we talking about. He will play fellaini instead of a WC winner. I gave up long time ago about him giving youth a chance. I just hope it's not to late and a top class player like Fosu leaves for another club.
So our summer tour opponents were announced. We'll be playing LA Galaxy, Salt Lake City, Man City, Barcelona and Real Madrid.

In other news, I know Mou has already said the same, but Fergie believes our priority should be to win Europa at the moment.

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11667/10810341/sir-alex-ferguson-urges-manchester-united-to-win-europa-league

We've never won it, it guarantees CL, and we have a good draw. Gettiing past anderlecht puts us in the Semi-Final so total of 5 games left in the competition means we have to take it seriously now.
+1
Yep gotta go for it, reasonably over two legs against the rest of the teams remaining, we should get to the final. Jose and his staff do their HW consistently, so I'm sure we can neutralize threats with whatever team comes up. Still need to make sure these first legs are positive results, hopefully our attacking woes don't materialize and we go out on away goals
Finish half the chances we create and we will walk our way to the final. Unfortunately, that is easier said than done.
Other tough teams remaining are Lyon & Schalke
Is depay eligible to play in Europa ? I won't even be surprised if he goes superman mode against us
dont think he is
Hes cup tied
Depay is cup tied
If we have our players back from injury, we should be able to beat Anderlecht, Lyon Schalke etc. Imo Anderlecht are a bigger threat than the other two, Schalke are 10th in Bundesliga and Lyon are quite average, 4th or 5th in France
It all depends on taking the chances. Thankfully we have been decent in front of goal in Europe, it is our league goal scoring form thats dreadful
Anyway there are no guarantees for both options. On paper we're one of the favourites to win but games aren't won on paper. The league we lost so much ground because of our draws so if we really want a top 4 finish we need to go on a run of 5 straight wins.
Rooney plus 30 million for Lukaku. What say? Rooney gets to go to his boyhood club, stay in the premier league and have a chance to come closer to Shearer's record. Everton get a stellar name in their roster. Lukaku moves to one of the biggest clubs in the world and we get a young premier league proven striker! Win win situation for all...
+1
I think whatever team gets Lukaku to fulfill his potential will get a player that will score 20+ goals for many seasons
+2
I dont know why so many people give Lukaku crap on here. He's been doing the business for a few seasons now.
+1
Would do that in a heartbeat
If lukaku comes for 50-60m we should try to get him. Just 23, and scored well over 70 goals in the EPL, thats pretty good talent right there. He rejected a new contract so its obvious he wants to leave, most likely to a top club within the EPL as I dont see Bayern/Barca/Real coming for him.

Plus, there are not that many world class strikers out there who are readily available. Imo we should try our best to sign him, get everton to reduce the price as we gave them Schneiderlin on a good deal
i have to give him credit as he's been improving season by season but it's hard to ignore the choke jobs he had over and over. he's an absolute terror for defenders with his pace and strength but dammit he is a choke artist and sometimes his first touch completely goes. cant see us going for him with zlatan still here though.
Pass. Dybala or kane. Lukaku is a bit stiff and chokes in the big games. Big and astute defenders know how to deal with him whereas the forementioned have much better movement
More like Rooney+40 mil. They'd most likely appraise Lukaku between 50-60 million and Rooney shouldn't fetch anything over 15 mil.
Rooney's wage will be a problem because what I heard was Everton offered 140k and that is highest in there history. Rooney is much bigger that that
If Rooney goes to China, Im sure he will break Pogba's fee by a big margin. They paid 60m for an average player like O$car, Rooney is certainly worth more based on the sheer number of trophies he's won.
@Vaaz Dont think he'll break the transfer fee but he would end up with a higher salary than Tevez
I cant see rooney going to china if he is serious about going to the world cup in two years' time.
+1
Vaaz, you have no clue about what determines a player's value.
+1
Image rights determines a player's value
^ Oh really, what determines a player's value then?

Rooney is way more marketable than Oscar, you're comparing someone who is 2 or 3 times on the FIFA cover, England's golden boy, All time leading goal scorer for both Man Utd and England, to some wee Brazilian who hasnt done much, to be perfectly honest. Oscar in his prime who could not even get into Chelsea's first team, he was worth 60m.

Dont even come in here and tell me that Rooney wont at least fetch that much in the Chinese transfer market.

Its not as if Chinese clubs are paying big money for the talent or the players age/number of years they would play in China etc, they just need stars on their rosters and would do just about anything to sign someone like Rooney.

Lol Shiwa I miss Image rights jokes here, cant wait for zlatan to come back from suspension lol
http://www.espnfc.us/blog/transfer-talk/79/post/3032516/tiemoue-bakayoko-chelsea-and-manchester-united-target-influenced-by-claude-makelele-and-yaya-toure

We need a DM to replace Carrick. This guy is very talented, but still young and makes mistakes occasionally. Would be a smart signing for the future but also a good player for the moment.
Sky seem to think he's already agreed terms with chelsea.. that would suck.
+1
Chelsea is currently playing without a natural DM. So it'll make sense for him to come through
+1
^ You have 2 DM...
+5
Dunno what Winning Bridges smoking, they have 4 DMs in Kante....
+2
both Kante and Matic are CMs.. haha don't be deceived
+1
In this league any good DM needs to be able to go forward as well. Teams can't afford to have a MF just sit back and play defence.
I'd call both Kante and Matic DMs, just good ones that can go forward too.
Matic DM yes. Mikel Obi was a the last proper DM we had.
Kante doesn't do half what a DM does. What he does which makes folks see him as a DM would be the tackling and destroying...maybe also because he's not a great CM. Essien is the best CM we had in recent history..
+1
ok then im just confused, they all seem to do the same things on the pitch tho
^^ True SIF--But that's due to our system. If you observe keenly, you'll realize that Kante doesn't even "hold" at all...a role very vital to a DM. (someone who can retrieve the ball, hold and distribute a good pass) but credit to Kante for doing both DM and CM jobs. But yeah, he's a CM by trade
+1
DM's don't have to distribute, they can be pure destroyers that just break up play.
they don't have to - True. but if you only destroy and don't distribute, the ball ends up back with the opponent more often than not. So it's very important to have a DM who does both.

Mikel used to do that although more of back passes haha but Carrick also does it well
+2
I think we've done it in the past where the dm (like jones for example) destroys the play and theres another midfielder who builds the attack (like carrick for example). if the DM wins the ball, he passes it to the midfielder playing that "quarterback" role to distribute the ball.
+1
Chelsea plays with 2 DMs...this guy is high
+4
are you serious Raj? Kante is not a DM. Damn
+1
Kante and Matic are the definition of Defensive midfielders.
+5
Lol thats what i thought, but hey im no expert.
Oh, I get it :P

Since Mourinho was there, all the players were defensive. Now that he is gone, they are not "defensive". Really simple guys lmao
+1
@Yaldho: Yes, you are right, but in the 3-4-3, you cannot possibly play with 2 DMs. Kante and Matic both play as box-to-box midfielders (one look at their average positions will tell you that).

@Vaaz: That is what all non-Chelsea fans have said for 13 years.
Box to Box or not, Matic is a defensive midfielder and so is Kante. No point in arguing this.
I thought you guys might find this interesting

http://www.espnfc.us/english-premier-league/23/blog/post/3087178/sir-alex-ferguson-jose-mourinho-and-playing-the-way-manchester-united-should
I actually just read that, nothing really new is discussed but point taken.
I hope we don't have any injuries other than Jones. I hope Rashford will get some time to play friendly against Germany. He needs it more for his development. I know it's almost impossible because of Kane and Vardy.
What a class player Bastian. His little video is amazing. I've never saw any other player doing this after leaving.

Good luck to Chicago Bastian !
+6
Phil Jones returns to United after being injured in the England camp, ffs
lol
One down four to go
Damn, we can't play all defender line up against WBA for a narrow win. Was hoping to see more defenders than last game.
+1
Hey atleast now he can't injure anyone else.
hopefully he's fit enough to tackle rooney
+1
He was probably sent back cause they feared he would take out a few people in training
It was Smalling that injured him.
+2
Broken toe ffs
wtf man, broken toe? good grief, thats like 6 weeks isnt it?
Bastian will join Chicago fire for free transfer..
😢
A complete professional. Never understood why Mou never played him but somethings arent meant to be
+1
I really don't want another "stubborn" manager after mou leaves.
+4
well it's a huge chunk off the wage bill. with morgan depay and bastien leaving/gone we should be able to reinforce big time in the center of the park. The other area is uptop and it seems rooney might leave as well to ensure he is in the england set up for the world cup.

Those four combined in wages saved is probably 600K a week talk less of transfer fees. Let's wait and see though, Rooney might yet stay but nevertheless we have a lot of flex this summer to get in the right players.

hard to be emotional about it, he hardly played. he took a risk coming here, and I know he's a big united fan so that's cool, but in the end it was a bust of a transfer.
+1
It was fun having him here. I'll echo the sentiments about wishing we could have seen him play more recently
Incoming Griezmann
+1
wait, how are they related?
