Manchester United are in advanced talks with Shakhtar Donetsk for Fred and a deal is close, according to Sky sources.

Edit: Gianluca Di Marzio says United have agreed a £50million transfer fee with Shakhtar and the transfer is 'done'.

Dont think we are going to pay the 100 Mil for Savic, which is very smart but we are still interested.

We are also interested in Mandzikic according to Di Marzio.

Next year will be a nice little Fred vs Jorginho story :D

I have not seen Fred play - but if he is Yaya-esque like how Moe described would he be a competitor to Pogba?
If he signs, i think he will be part of a midfield 3 with Pogba and Matic. He is left footed, so he should slot into that RCM position.
That'd be a powerful midfield. Although I like the midfield 3, it still doesn't solve our problems on the right until we get a true winger over there
di marzio says fred deal is finished.

and tomi fred is being signed as a starter, he is more of a tiny guy like fernandinho with the same qualities, only more raw and less experienced. i think he has more pace and mobility but all the comparisons are with fernandinho
im realy concerned about the amount of money Mourinho is spending in the transfer market yet not providing the trophies to show for it. Before he is finished he could spend up to half a billion dollars in transfer market

Previous to this season we did win three trophies. The problem is that the squad was stagnant and it looks like we need to remove more of the deadwood that lies within our squad. It's hard to see how teams can maintain dominance (United in the 90's for example) in a very competitive league.
lol hilarious. don't worry about our spending. and he's gotten to 3 cup finals in his first 2 seasons here, you cant win them all. he's doing his job, the spending doesnt matter. if you have the means to improve your team, you do it. end of story.
Chelsea4lyphe seriously not a good idea to post this opinion here on this page...Also, everyone spends these days and nobody is in a position question the other. Its not like we are in good position to talk about it.
Why not? It's a legitimate opinion and concern and he spoke with respect so i don't see a problem with it.

Also i agree...Mourinho is pooched

Damn so sad for Romero. After a whole season of patiently backing up Degea he really deserved to play in the world cup. Great keeper, so unlucky
Looks like our No 1 CM target is Fred but we are also strongly linked with Talisca. Liverpool are interested as well. Benfica wants to sell Talisca (40 Mil) because they have had 'issues' with him in the past. Not quite sure how good he is but someone to keep an eye on.

Now the CM i would love to have is Jorginho but he might be on his way to City. Why do City need another central midfielder on top of Silva, KDB, Fernandinho, Gundogan and B. Sliva can play there too. Why cant they just promote an academy players or two? So annoying lol
Fernandinho is the only true player in the CDM role - distributor/destroyer that's the role that makes Pep's team tick. Pep wants a true successor in that role which is why he is targeting Jorginho.

Gundogan sometimes plays that role but he is just a distributor not a tackler and does not have the instinct to provide cover like Fernandinho
Isnt Jorginho similar to Gundogan? He is definitely not a defensive minded player like Fernandinho. Anyway, ill be really jealous if you guys land him.
^ His actually is good defensively. I didn't really know much about him until we played them in UCL and their #8 really stuck out. He continued to make good interceptions and distribute the ball either to MFs or bypass the opposition defense and try to catch them out with long passes from deep. He seems cool, calm and composed under pressure and just sits in-front the back 4. Not surprised Pep went after him at all.

Fred is more attack minded. His a CM like Yaya who can dribble, pass and even score, doesn't seem to afraid to take shots from distance. He literally runs at the defense and will try to play directly rather than side way passing football. He actually looks like a nightmare to deal with once he gets settled.
I think Jorginho will be a perfect replacement for Carrick.
He doesn’t seem to have any interest in United.... also, Silva B Silva arnt Cm. Which means we have only 2 cm and a De Bruyne.
Damn, so stacked in squad depth that both Silvas dont have to play CM
Ohh I am sure he will be interested in United if we show interest...
Emery: I finished every season in la liga only behind Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid

Arsenal board: you mean you finished 4th every season?

Emery: YES!

Arsenal board: Youre hired!!!

Arsene - Arsenal
Emery - Emirates

That's where Arteta failed!

I think what Arsenal are doing is smart. They are splitting up the responsibility that Arsene had. After SAF, it was all up to Moyes. Arsenal are doing it the correct way and i think they will be very stable in the near future.
+2
i think the reason they couldnt get rid of arsene sooner is because he had too much power. they slowly broke up his power, to the point where he could be sacked or relieved of duties etc. it was a healthy decision for their club.

moyes never had all the power, and technically fergie didn't either beacause of david gill's position. i don't think mourinho handles transfers, i think we all know that's ed woodward's job and he was still around when moyes was there. In fact woodward hired LvG and Mourinho so you could say in some respects he has more power.

so even if we didn't have a technical director, the manager doesn't hold all the cards for our transfer policy and all club affairs.
But our manager identifies who to bring in. That wont be the case at Arsenal it looks like. Emery will have some input but the final decision is not up to him. Very different from what we have.
Yeah we have a team of Mislintat, Sanllehi and Fahmy. They co-operate with the managers desire of what type of player to bring for the benefit of the team, and they go get them
^ Interesting names. I thought those are nicknames until I searched them up :P

If you ignore the click bait headlines and read his quotes, he's being realistic but also professional.
Darmian looks like he is close to joining Juve for €15m.

Also there are reports that we are keeping an eye on Savic but PSG is also interested. The fee will be in excess of €100m.
15m would be good for Darmian. Too bad he could never consistently replicate the form he showed early on in his first season here. This means we should see a new RB incoming, so that's one.

PSG can have Savic for 100m, don't want to get into a price war over him when there are options out there. Maybe try to lure Verratti if we think he can make it?
Lol 100M, f**k outta here.

These transfers are getting so stupid and out of hand, it's hard to believe these prices.

That guy's quality but he's not going to be starting every week here even if we sign him tomorrow, he will need time to learn the league and the team.

Hopefully matic can say something because both play together in the national team, it would be great for them to be playing together week in week out (in the future) im sure.
+3
Yeah 100 mil for a cm, who would pay that kinda fee or one like it?
+3
muhahaha Khessler
Ok smartass, 100 million for a guy with no reputation, and hasn't won anything. who knew about him a year ago? definitely being milked with fees like that.

Really disappointing end to the season in the two biggest cups, but make no mistake, this was our best season since Fergie left. The table doesn't lie, this is leaps and bounds better than our most recent years.

This summer will be crucial for us to make another leap. We need to sign the right targets to propell us into true consistency in performances. Not all of these signings need to be players, our team play and system needs improvement, and new players need time on the pitch to gel, so hopefully next season we are even better.

We will definitely sign defenders and midfielders.

There's always a standout at these major turnaments, I remember James and neymar last world cup in Brazil, and ozil two world cups ago. Hope we see a new star born this summer too, hopefully at fullback, where we need the most improvement. Someone dangerous uptop on the right would help to stretch teams too of course, which is why I wouldn't mind willian if no one else stands out.
+1
Agree that summer is crucial. Definitely gotta strengthen at RB and RW. Hopefully we get the players that will either help us win the league next season, play more exciting football, or... well, you know the end result will be.
I think we need to be realistic. We need about 4 first team player to win the league and i dont think we will be able to get them in one window. We need a LB, RB, CB and CM. RM will be a bonus but you know Mou wants one, that is why we went for Perisic last summer. I have this feeling that Jose might be happy with the CB options we already have.

Realistically, we should be able to buy a LB, CB and CM and that should be enough to make us challenge for the tittle.

I dont think one transfer window (especially these days) will be able to help us bridge the gap between us and City.
Overall, last season was more successful as we won two and a half trophies but this season even though we finished second we didn't challenge for the title and didn't win any trophies either. So in terms of success we went a step backward. But in terms of performance and consistency we took a step forward. wasn't enough though. We HAVE to improve even more next season or Jose will be sacked which is not something I want to see happen.
To become a complete team, we need to sign one fullback, one CB, two CMs, a right winger and a young striker. and we need to sell at least darmian, blind, fellaini and one of Jones/Smalling/Rojo/Lindelof. I agree with Yaldho, we can do that in two seasons.
+1
I dont think Jose is going to be sacked soon unless we finish outside of the top 4. He singed a 3 year extension last season. Looks like the board is happy with the progress.
I agree completely with your transfer policy, EFRANERI. That's what we need, but can we do it all this window? I'm doubtful.
+1
last year the primary target is top 4, winning the carabaro or w/e cup isn't the objective. We were forced to win europa in order to make CL, that was all that matters. this season we finished second, didn't need a backdoor to the CL. trophies are important, but I don't put any stock in the ones we won last season to paper over the cracks of a horrible league campaign. we were much better this season performance wise than last year, that's a good sign. but we need a much bigger summer window to improve next year or it will be a big step backwards.
Looks like we are really in for Willian. He left Wembley early after the FA Cup, dont think he likes Conte either. We do need a RM but he is not going to make us better but maybe more balanced on that Right side.

Edit: Looks like Fellaini is on his way out. Maybe Andreas can take his spot.
Willian is good but we need better younger more explosive players..

out: Darmian, Blind, Felly, (Carrick retired), Martial (will go). id get rid of Jones now. Smalling is a tad bit better/fitter, sell Rojo, Mata. We've got a clearout. Pogba can f**k off too. hes not focused. bring in Savic or another CM.

need to bring in 6 or 7. we ant going to win anything major anytime soon. keep slashing team every 2 yrs.
we are a clueless bunch at the moment.
Clueless bunch is a bit harsh. We comfortably finished 2nd. So there are things going right but them we failed miserably in Champions league, where the manager got it wrong and lost in the final for the FA cup against Chelsea(not a disaster). This has been an average season but we dont need another revolution. So selling Pogba for Savic is just not going to work. We need to improve on what we have. We need someone next to Pogba.

We need to 2 full backs, a central midfielder, a Right midfielder and a CB. Dont think we will be able to get all these in one window, so next season will be another season without any major honors but i hope we can atleast compete for the title.
Could use a solid backup true ST as well. Just don't have any bite without Lukaku.
Im struggling to understand why we would go for a player who cannot even make the starting XI of a team outside the top 4.

I hope the club can get quality otherwise its gonna be another long boring season. The clib shpuld sign only genuine world class players to take the club to the next level
To be fair, there arent many world class RMs available.
How about grabbing a hot prospect from Bundesliga?
I would take Willian, there aren't many players available in that position and he is better than Mata.
Bailey is young and needs to deliver again next season to show he wasn't a fluke, he's still Bayern's target even though they couldn't reach an agreement
I hear we were in for him last summer but unlike with matic, Chelsea board wouldn't sell
^^ Maybe your right, he could be another Memphis Depay if we sign him now. Talking about Memphis, I wonder if he will ever make a return.
William is quality mate, you say by bring in a player who can't make it into the starting lineup of a struggling 5th place side... would you say the same about martial? Players not being selected is due to manager preference, willian has been Chelsea's best player, but Conte fucks him over just like mou fucks martial over.
Done with this stupid back four of Valencia, Smalling, Jones and Young.

We should get Meunier or Sandro.
