sneaky suspicion that LVG is working on converting Valencia to a right back or a wing back.
Vacant numbers next season: 3,5,7,9,11?

Luke Shaw 3
New defender 5
??? 7
Van Persie 9
Januzaj 11
Doubt VP will take 9, he would of took it already, maybe Welbeck will get it, depends I guess.

Shaw will almost certainly get 3 and I think Adnan will get either 7 or 11, if we make a major signing though I can see that person getting the 7.

I agree that the new CB that comes in will get 5 or maybe Smalling or someone will get it.
Don't think anyone will get the #9, the highest chance is maybe a young player.
I've never been this excited for a preseason friendly in my life. Something is either really wrong or really right.

Jose Mourinho was LVG assistant at Barcelona.

Your master is back Jose :)
Pep played under LVG as a player at Barcelona too. Can't wait to see LVG play against Pep next season ;)
something something something darkside
Rooney scores from a corner kick in training, Van Gaal happy with the set piece, Rooney gets a cuddle from the gaffer.

Love the positive spirit in our camp.

Something we rarely saw last year.
Anyone else smile like a fool when you saw van gaal hug rooney? haha. Great to see.
+2
players laugh and joke all the time though, even last year with moyes joining in based on some of the pics. to be honest i'd say losing pat and rio would lighten the spirit in the dressing room :(
Watching other related videos, they're working out hard meanwhile enjoying themselves, great to see their big smiles again :D
Yeah, I was thinking that too CJ. The positive spirit within the club seems to have returned and it is so great to see. LVG is known to be really good with his players, despite the image painted by the media. I think we can already started to see that closeness developing.
Way to go BBC:
"Manchester City goalkeeper David De Gea posted a photograph of him and David Beckham, with the caption: "With a legend!" "

If you guys have fifteen minutes, watch this video of Van Gaal having a presentation about management. His planning, preparation and attention to detail is simply amazing.
He talks about the way he works, explains some of his decisions as national coach of a team in which people were starting to lose faith, and what people can expect when working with him.

It's a great watch. He's a fantastic speaker and just oozes confidence and wisdom.
I really feel like he has what it takes to turn this team around.

(if you're watching it, hit the "CC" button for subtitles)

Edit: He talks about Strootman and how important he is to the Dutch team at around 13:25 and how he'll have to find a solution to his injury, saying there is no possible replacement for him. I really can't help but feel like with Strootman they would've had a good chance of winning the cup.

I've already seen it, but it's good you've posted it here so other people can see it.
And did you see how he talked about having balance in the team and in that case strootman was the key for that. His formation before strootman got injured was really intelligent and got so many hidden reasons behind it, but when the key got broken, the balance in that team disrupted and he had to come up with an other formation involving for instance putting a 35 year old Kuyt at either left, and right back in this competion.
I wonder who he thinks/wants is the balance player in this team.
strootman playing the carrick role for us would be ideal as strootman is all action but intelligent and a good passer and combative so he can sit in front of the defense and control the pace of the game. we don't have that balance in midfield at the moment with carrick out and fletcher not 100%.

i just hope all this chest pounding doesn't screw us later. if teams know we have money, and know we are somewhat desperate to improve, they have every incentive to hold out for a crazy fees. i just hope we dont leave the big signing for too late for other clubs to find replacements etc and then we're stuck with our hands in our pockets.

another interesting thing, people who complain about our debt and ffp need to realize this: the refinancing of the debt has brought our interest payments down from 75-100+ million per season down to 20 million per season. so out of the 400-425 million pound in revenue, under 50% go to wages, 5% go to interest rate, and really the rest can be used as the club sees fit. so really the club has a lot of money to work with, especially when you consider giggs (85k), evra (90k), vida (120k) and rio (110ish k) off the wage bill. lots of space and money to work with.
I think everyone already knew that we have lots of money lol.
There's one big leecher earning 118k we need to offload and you know who I mean :P

Pat... what can I say... what a character. Thank you Evra!
the fees are a bit embarrassing and insulting... free transfer would have been better
33 year old fullback with 1 year left on contract, he wasn't ever going to be sold for a huge amount.

but any ways, it still hasn' really set in that he's gone. took a long time for me to come to terms with vida leaving and imo this is just as tough but for different reasons. pat's probably the strongest link between the fans and the players. he loves the club and understands the weight and responsibility of the shirt. he's the exact type of experienced players you want hanging around the club talking to youngsters and new signings to teach them what it means to wear the shirt and play for utd..

it's just a tough summer to lose so many legends all at once. vida, giggs, rio and now evra. that's a lot of leadership, swagger, style and experience to lose all at once. really is the end of an era now that the players seem to be leaving after sir alex. it's almost going to be a whole new team in a year or two.
+1
logically speaking yes... but really 1.2? why not 2.5? or why not 500k? 1.2 is like, please come into my house, but please dont touch anything inside and dont sit on my chair, just stand.
You do know that Evra could have gone for free but he decided to help us make a little money.

Who knows maybe the money we earned from Evra is being used for the changes that are occurring in Manchester like the Sleep Pods,Flood Lights, and Grass for the training grounds, etc.

Stop complaining about everything thing people.
