Interesting post on the Liverpool forum: Who is our MVP?

The easy (and perhaps only) answer is De Gea, but as I say there, he's clearly our best player, but even he hasn't been making some of the saves he made last season, at least not enough to save us from some of these results (minus the Muto save against Newcastle).

Pogba shows flashes of brilliance and inconsistency. Can we truly call him an MVP? Same with Lindelof, or Shaw, though their bar is not as high as "brilliant" despite some of the improvements we've seen.

The point is, there's no Ibra, Lukaku is underperforming so much relative to last year, there's no presence in midfield from an injured Matic unlike last season. Sanchez hasn't hit, Martial is still too inwards to be considered a leader, and players like Mata and Young, as much effort as they give, don't lift the team above poor performances.

There's not even a J.S. Park who we can look at and say "okay, that guy is going to do a job today." All flash, no substance. Who are the leaders in our team?
There is one leader but he is going to be sacked in the summer or earlier. Like it or not our team is not good enough to compete with Juve. we will loose 7/10 times even if we are managed by Pep.

We dont even have consistent players let alone leaders. We dont have the Rooneys, Rios, Evras, Scholes. That is a huge problem. The only players we have that can guarantee at least a 6/7 out of 10 performance every game is De Gea and Lingard. Everyone else is hot or cold. I dont know if that is down to the manager or if its the players. There is no consistency (though we have been consistently s**t this season). So i agree, where are the players a manager can trust? De Gea and Lingard (i know Lingard is average but he is at least consistent about it). That is it.
Jose made no subs today. Did he even had a plan B?
He has no plan for any game. Its all a big joke

Sad thing is that this could be the last time big clubs like Juve will play in OT for the forseeable future. There is no way we can finish in the top 4 this season, really need a huge miracle there , especially since we are yet to play many of the big teams
+2
Very interesting that he dint make a single sub and the playing XI was exact same which played 3 days back at stamford bridge.
he would've brought on Fellaini if he was fit, same goes for Sanchez
+3
His plan B is to get sacked
+3
You have the option to lose to Valencia and win the Europa League.
+4
^ Who are you playing in the champions league this week?
I think Juve bought their B game and spared us. They could have hit us for 3 or 4 goals with little more effort. They got the first goal away from home and decided to go for 3 points. No way our terrible strikers are ever scoring again Chielini + Bonucci
+1
Look at the positives, the treble is still on.
+4
We almost did if not for De Great. What a flying save!
Lindelof intercepted like 10 balls. He was great. Jose should keep him in there.
If we were s**t at defending like we were on previous occasions, it could have been worse. At least we defended ok.
Today Lindelof definitely was best defender on the pitch..but it was't fair that Jose only praised Juve defenders in the post match when they literally had nothing to do all game. It was discussed during post match analysis
Cmon, Jose talks a lot of s**t to take pressure of his team and himself. It used to be know as mind games or whatever when he was at Chelsea, Inter, Madrid etc. Now people dont say that because he is not winning anymore.
True that is what the conclusion was...he was trying to deflect the attention from performance. But ex players and pundits know that trick very well now lol
lindelof has been class today. i feel for him hes not got much help
+1
Lindelof has been improving ever since we signed him. Hopefully he can keep going.
Lindelof, De Gea looked amazing
Its one thing playing bad for 45 mins and taking your chance in the second half against a shaky Chelsea defense. Juve is a completely different beast. Their defense will eat Martial, Lukaku, and Rasfhord alive. Hoping for a lucky goal.
Lukaku is so dreadful as a lone striker/CF. His only prowess is finishing from 10 yards and even there he’s pretty bad. Everywhere else on the pitch he’s truly awful
+5
I agree Lukaku has been poor but we dont give him a chance at all. We are just s**t at atacking. How is any striker going to thrive on that? World class strikers would struggle let alone Lukaku.
Yeah well everything is bad. Theres no effort but lukaku is inept at playing deep, one-two passes etc.. he can just hunt down long balls vs poor mid table opponents There is zero link up with martial
he ought to be dumped the bench, play Martial and Sanchez as 2 upfront strikers. Maybe see if Lukaku can be used as a sub
Rashford is also equally bad. Imho his best games were the first games under lvg where he burst on to the scene. Been carrying so much expectation for nothing
He was exposed today, could not beat a single opponent
Penny for Pogbas thought? On hindsight it was a huge mistake from his point of view to leave Juve. Can you imagine if Juve had Pogba too? Scary.
I feel they are more balanced without him...less hold-up , skill show in midfield. Its more direct football right now.

Pjanic and Matuidi are no less although they dont have same market value
+2
Any team will be better with a player like Pogba even though I get what you are saying.
He must have honestly thought it would be the next step. Also, Mourinho has been traditionally very persuasive of getting players once the club sanctions it.
both are right, everyone in mid will be used as option, so pogba may actually need to sit on bench now, which he will never agree
Pogba was a club signing. We had been working on that transfer for 2 years before Jose came in. I think it was his dream to come back but sadly for him, he came back to a changed club.
When we lost Pogba, it hurt. I really really really wanted him to stay. I'd still take him back in a heartbeat.
When we lost Pogba , it hurt and i am really happy to have him back :)
Why Sanchez not on the bench? Looks real weak
Injured
training ground session for juve. its painful

they are strolling around the park in first gear

we are a vehicle out of gas, forgot to refuel after weekend ride
+1
We're not out of gas, it's just that nobody knows how to drive properly.
Sausic and Trashford are doing as expected
+2
Such garbage players we got smh. Rashford, Lukaku, all one trick bullies with zero quality
+1
Rashford is basically playing as a wing back and its not helping him.
+1
We wont score today.
