Manchester United have refused to comment on reports they are set to sign Real Madrid winger Angel Di Maria.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28915510

There's obviously something going on. It if were a 'no', the club would likely come out and categorically deny the rumours.

Edit**

Telegraph now also reporting the Di Maria contract negotiations: "Argentine in advanced talks over move to Old Trafford with Louis van Gaal hoping to make three new signings this week"
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/11053451/Angel-Di-Maria-set-to-move-to-Manchester-United-in-potential-60-million-transfer-from-Real-Madrid.html
Khedira up next!
Lets say Woodward miraculously signs Di Maria and Vidal and maybe even Benatia, it would likely be considered a success by most.
But I am still in the belief he needs to get the fcuk out of business involving player contracts and stick to the club's commercial aspects.
The best signing we could make would be someone to appoint as Director of football.
While a lot of supporters have built up a lot of hostility toward Woodward, if he were to seal those three I don't think I could complain. I don't think we'll actually sign those three player, with Di Maria looking the most likely. But even David Gill, who is now coveted as one of our best chief-execs, had a very poor start. I remember when people were calling for Gill to be sacked...

If Woodward were to actually sign those three - which is highly unlikely - it surely would be a massive coup and a huge success for him and his team.
That is a good point Stet but it was also a different climate than ten years ago. I just don't see Woodward having the stones to deal with this market properly. Seems he has already gotten run over by the bus and that reputation will be near impossible to change at this point. Rather than coming in as a Gill heir apparent, which if I remember correctly, he was Gill's assistant at one point, he seems to be taken advantage off with clubs running all over him. That's speculation on my part of course, but that's just how I see it. I'd rather a a stronger sauce be on the table.
If their any winger that replace Ronaldo it has to be dimaria and daily star reporting di maria will wear the famous #7 shirt. #welcome to best club in england and in the world Angel!
I think Reus would be Better.
^ I love Reus alot but i feel like Di maria offers a lot to the team defends, hustles and creates goals and has incredible stamina that last 90+ minutes :)
yeah honestly i like reus more going forward, but even i would agree di maria is more of a fighter and will win possession a lot more often.

besides theres no reason we cant go for reus next summer.
You know its pretty solid the news when its on Sky sports.
Well i hope it breaks down some how ;)

jk good luck guys

Thanks, I'm not believing it yet, only a week ago Benatia was on a plane to Manchester, remember.
I'm so excited O_O

@MrWaddy

I think this is a bit different.

The Benatia stuff was more of an off hand comment, "hearing Benatia is heading to Manchester" is a bit different to the Di Maria news, talk of a fee and even a shirt number being agreed, we didn't have any of that with Benatia.

Regardless we don't actually know what is happening with Benatia yet, there is still a chance we might sign him you never know.
@james - haha i was reading my own comment before i posted it and yup i lied. i forbid any good player to transfer to united xD
"It’s a case of WHEN not IF Angel Di Maria signs for Manchester United, according to Guillem Balague, with a certain Real Madrid team-mate having persuaded him it’s the right move!!"

"It's basically now [only] a matter of everyone sitting down and signing the documents"

Via Sky

Bold, indeed...
According to Guillem Balague Ronaldo convinced Di Maria to choose us over PSG. Only paper work remains to be done.
Agent CR7, maybe talk to Khedira next? :)
no words..

Dont get too excited mates.lol hopes it true..mr watchdisspace finally learn something..
Rooney, RVP, Mata, Januzaj, Di Maria? Wow that would be some attacking department.

Di Maria plays better in a 3 man mid field. If he does come to United (I hope he doesn't leave us) then LVG should play a 4-3-1-2

------back 4-------
--Maria--Flecher--Herrera
--------Mata---------
-----Rooney--RVP-----

after having no left footed players besides giggs in the attacking third for years we now have rvp mata januzaj and rumors of di maria.

well anyways if this goes through i just hope the club will get a CM and top CB too.
Absolutely dynamite.

On paper Wazza, RVP, Mata is a terrifying combination for any opposition (especially when Wazza and RVP are BOTH up top with Mata behind). Add Di Maria to the mix .. that has to be one of the best attacking 4 we've had in a long time.
