Sane should have started this match. Should be starting more matches in general. Hindsight 20/20 I hope.
I know right? Sane is better than Sterling Mahrez Bernardo combined together but yet he starts from the bench
He is essential, I don't see him starting before Sterling/Bernardo unless they are to be rested at the moment.

Bernardo was, again, so much better in the middle. What a player.
Did you guys watch Arteta's press conference? handled all the questions like a boss...I hope he takes over when Pep leaves...not trying to be pessimistic considering Mendy and KdB are absent I predict a 1 - 2 or a 0 - 1 loss to Lyon
wow my prediction was spot on
Damn you was
No Mendy in the team after some real quality displays? What happened?
Ask Pep, I'm sure there is a good reason. Maybe he doesn't want to push Mendy too hard, saving him for the real testing games, and also everyone should get a little game time right.
Pep will rotate players during the season. With UCL coming up, Pep probably wants Mendy rested.
That makes sense. Ruins my FPL tho. :)

Knee injury for Mendy

On a related note, even Delph is injured now.
How serious is it Tomi?
Not very serious, Pep said fews days to few weeks for Mendy
Great game especially coming back from international break!
For sure, we played well. B. Silva is soo goood!
+1
Really starting to see now why we bought him!
Wow definitely a penalty for Son, maybe it really is Liverpool's year this season. :/
Once Champions League starts they will crack
LOl we'll see
Unless some of their key guys go down with long term injuries, they have a very good chance of winning the title.
They are definitely looking ominous. The worrying part is that they are winning 2-1 only because their finishing is complete s**t at the moment. They are creating chances for fun. Which means they will get better as the season progresses.

We were very, very good today. Bernardo is the man in the middle. God forbid if Pep ever punts him back on the wings. He has to operate in the middle. Sane/Sterling back on the wings is so fun to watch. Sane was a bit rusty though. We need to finish our chances as well. So many chances lost.
+1
Agreed tomi, hopefully we'll get better as the season progresses as well, our clash with Liverpool should be interesting as well, looking to see what Pep will do tactically.
@Tomikato Pep puts Bernardo on the wings not because he thinks he is better on the wing than through the middle but because we have KdB David Silva and Ferna operating through the middle now you will have to ask yourself is he better than those 3? now that KdB is injured he is getting his chances of playing through the middle which is his preferred position of course but once KdB is fit Pep will have to play the one thats better in the position
What? When did I ever say he was better than el mago and kdb? Don’t use your nonsensical logic on me man. Save it for the rest of the site. I am talking about Bernardo in the middle right now. KdB has been injured few games and Bernardo hasn’t always played in the middle, while he totally should.
mistake from michael oliver, his view was blocked. it really should have been 4 or 5 - 1 at that point though so the result still flattered spurs. we really need our front three to start clicking again with our next 6 fixtures: psg, soton, chelsea (cup), chelsea, napoli, and then y'all.
I'm sure you'll manage honstabe, You guys are just shifting through the gears.
@Tomikato "nonsensical logic"?? you didnt get much discipline growing up did you? you need to be taught some manners
+1
stop pissing people off man. please don't reply to my posts.
@FootballisCity - dude you need to wind in what you say and how you speak to people - your post @Tomikato is very condescending and damn right rude.

I don't care if this is your forum but how you have acted these past few days; after several warnings is completely unacceptable.

So cut out the drivel that you constantly regurgitate, otherwise you will be finding yourself unable to respond to any post on this site.

Also don't bother replying to either of our posts because I will delete them.

We broke the 500mil mark when it comes to revenue. Looks like the club is headed in the right direction. Just 70mil short of United's revenues.

https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/manchester-city-break-500-million-barrier-revenues-report-104m-profit-after-premier-league-title-a8536256.html

https://uk.reuters.com/article/uk-soccer-england-mci-revenue/man-city-break-500-million-pounds-revenue-barrier-idUKKCN1LT2J2

Wonder how @Bazinga and is feeling about this? :D

With this kind of income its about time we signed a 100 mil player and flex our muscles
I am not sure what your obsession is with Bazinga. We all know that City have been earning more revenue than Chelsea after that Etihad naming rights deal. Also city have a bigger stadium.
Nobody has questioned ability of city to spend big on players.
@NvjFooty you reason just like @Bazinga...that stadium naming rights deal is over many years if you consider how much of it is per year its a small fraction of our revenues. The biggest one is us constantly making the champions league and being in the top 10 European clubs at the moment.

The moment you make the champions league group stage you are given 32mil by UEFA and then you have ticket sales, TV rights and all other stuff that come after and the further in the competition you go the more money you make.

But its about time we signed a 100mil pound player...your GK is more expensive than all our forwards, Liverpool has several players more expensive than our most expensive player at 60mil, United has several players that are more expensive than that so its about time we splash the cash!
@FootballisCity - "Looks like the club is headed in the right direction"

Really? I thought we were in the right direction long back.

Also, I don't mean to stop your freedom of speech - say what you will within the rules of the site - just a question - why are you so obsessed with the financials and boasting why we are the best, blah blah? I mean - to be honest, it is quite clear how everyone is on a similar model these days - and it is just painful how much you and bazinga and co. fight on these things. Why not spend that energy talking about the actual, beautiful game on the pitch? There is so much to talk about the games themselves.

Anyways, peace out.
@Tomikato we talk about finances when there is international break and there is no beautiful game on the pitch ....trying to keep this forum alive thats all.
Don't really think so. You talk about it all the time.

@FootballisCity I know that there is no point explaining but I dont think you understand how club revenues work. There are mainly 3 sources of revenues for any club. Ticket sales, TV deals and sponsorship. TV deals are major part of revenue for any top PL club after the latest TV deals. But what you dont understand is that all top clubs are getting almost same money. I think united got more from TV deal than city even though they finished 2nd. This is because of number of games telecast and other factors. CL bonuses will be there for all clubs participating. Unless you reach final or win CL, it wont make much difference when you compare 2 participating clubs. 2nd part is ticket sales. City have 55-60k capacity stadium while Chelsea stadium capacity is only 41k. So obviously revenue will be high. Third and most important part is sponsorship. Etihad naming rights deal was for 40m per year I think no other club have this big deal for naming rights. Arsenal's deal with Emirates is only for 2-3m per year. So if you are saying that this is not a big factor, you are wrong. I think this deal had probably saved the club from FFP when it started.

Btw I agree that City have done well in managing finance. I am just pointing out that Etihad deal was a major factor. I am not saying anything against any of these deals or finances. As Tomi already said club had been going in right direction even before Pep arrived. Only thing missing is CL.
last post over a week ago? whats happening villains? excited for the upcoming week? these international breaks should be scrapped
When international break comea up, footytube becomes more dead than ever.
It really does
Don't know what got into Walker but I'll take it, don't get those too often lol, we need more surprises in our squad like that, to really push past our limits this season in terms of retainig the title.
Not our best game but we managed. Happy for Kyle Walker, he deserves a lot of credit. Been a top performer and a goal like that will keep him motivated.

After the break the season really kicks off. EFL cup and UCL games. Here we go!
+2
Can't wait, this season looks like it's going to be a fight :) I know its Early but I can feel it, Chelsea flying under the radar trying to sneak it, Liverpool much stronger trying to take it, and we are trying to keep it, should be a good watch, oh a don't write off Spurs lol, United hmm not so sure on that lol.
This was a pretty bad game. No pressing at all. WTF

Pep was playing 4 strikers. WTF is going on? Only Silva and Fernandinho in midfield. I am not liking what I am seeing in the past few weeks. Looks like FIFA formations lol.

We need to take the midfield back and win back the ball. Without KdB we have taken a big hit in the defense and ball winning section.
So true tomi, the energy and control Kdb brings in the midfield is unbelievable, and with Silva it's total midfield control, just hope our other mids can step it up, Gundogan especially, he has the quality to get so much better than he already is, although I understand he had a pretty bad injury, don't know how much that's affecting him.
they are like collectors items! almost died when i heard the commentator said that.
why isn't Sane in the line up? or bench at least? his pace would have been useful right about now

I have a feeling Pep doesn't rate him anymore after he was dropped by Loew from the Germany squad
Looks like Sane was dropped due to attitude issues.
I feel for him. The competition for the starting XI is immense and he was one of the standout players last season. Of course no one just inherits a starting position in Pep's team, but I don't think Mahrez is particularly better than Sane. It seems that Mendy's recovery and the arrival of Mahrez has pushed Sane out of Pep's plans which is unfortunate. I really enjoyed watching him play. Hopefully, if he is having attitude problems, he will mature under the guidance of the veteran players and prove himself worthy to be in the starting lineup. The only opinion that matters is Pep's so the last thing Sane needs to do is piss him off. Also, I don't think Sane being left out of the German World Cup squad (a decision completely out of Pep's hands) should affect his position to play for City. He showed his quality last season and it turned out Germany probably could have used it.
Pep will rotate players often to keep players fresh. Sane is still highly rated but their are games where the others will be benched as well.
So I was thinking, does anyone know for a fact what yaya said about Pep not liking native African players if its true or not besides pep saying its not true? I mean even if he didn't obviously he wouldn't admit to it.

If you were in yaya situation and it was true what he said about pep what would you do, would you spill the beans like he did or shut up about it?
If I felt that way of course I would speak up but Pep isn't racist. Pep has worked with African/Black players before. His a tough manager who will be honest with you and your either going to like him or hate him. When Pep came in he told Clichy that his best days where behind him but for 2016/17 season he was going to need him to play his role. Clichy did that and left in a respectable manner at the end of the season. Same story with Zabaleta. Yaya couldn't understand that he physically can't handle the demands of Pep's style and plus Yaya was 33 years old during that season. He thought Pep was Pellegrini and he was going to let him walk around the pitch but that wasn't going to be the case. Not to mention, Pep chose Busquets ahead of Yaya during his Barca days, so he feels really bitter about that.

Pep has no personal issues with Yaya. Yaya is the one who's got the problem with Pep. Everyone including Pep could see Yaya was past it and had to move on. The club gave him a great send off but Yaya just simply can't face the reality which is why his coming up with this story. When he sees a few ex Barca players (Eto, Zlatan) criticize Pep and a few Bayern players (Muller, Ribery), Yaya wants to chime in with his two cents. News flash Yaya! Many have criticized Pep but none every said he was racist.
+1
You have a point, I can agree to that, plus from what he has said it also seems Yaya has an issue with being told what to do by Pep, he has an ego.

"He thought Pep was Pellegrini and he was going to let him walk around the pitch but that wasn't going to be the case." It's true LMAO smh, I like this, well said.
+1
Pep needs his teams to be a collection of team players not claiming the spotlight for themselves.

Look at ALL teams he's managed: the stars there were always humble guys shunning all attention outside of the football pitch. At Barça they were Xavi, Iniesta and Messi while he sold Ronaldinho (!), Eto'o and Ibra. Now at City his team revolves around David Silva & KDB, while he kicked the party animal that was Joe Hart and self-obsessed Yaya Touré.

He is similar to a general, who demands his lieutenants be exactly like him in spirit: focused on the ultimate goal and not on any other distractions. All others, no matter how talented, will be cast out. If Yaya interprets that as racist, he's wrong. The only correlation might be that African (& some South American) players have a tendency to enjoy life's other pleasures as well when they shouldn't for the best of their football careers.
Yeah watching the documentary, no matter where you stand on the team, you must listen to Pep.
