Looks like Nastasic might really be on his way out after all. As Pellegrini clearly rates Boyata ahead of Nastasic for some insane reason. Tough to hear but City can't keep everyone.

Considering Nastasic wasn't even on the bench against Newcastle I think this report is true.

I'm going mental, why would you want to sell Nastasic and keep Boyata, Nastasic is clearly the better player, and also with how old Demichelis is I don't see him there for long, at least I hope not, why not loan Nastasic out like Rekik, I'm so pissed -__-".

Pellegrini might be seeing something on the training ground that we aren't seeing regarding Nastasic, I don't know, I cant understand it.
There is one very simple reason guys. Boyata is content with not playing, Nastasic is not. Pellegrini said it himself - Nastasic needs to play to develop and he is open to letting him do that.

The bench list by no means refers to Boyata being better. Just means that Boyata is OK with the role and he will stay. Nastasic is too good for that role and will leave.
+1
It will always come down with the same problem Rekik or Nastasic next summer as well. One of them has to go eventually and as sad as it is Nastasic is the likely man to head out. No one can doubt Demichelis ability any longer, he is very much capable of playing top sides and doing a good job against them, he certainly a lot better then he was last season.
I get that tomi, but what if we have an injury or injuries, wouldn't you rather have Nastasic or Rekik as a replacement than Boyata? If it were up to me I'd loan until demi leaves, let Nastasic or Rekik fill his role and rotate, I just hate to see quality leave.
Agreed SilvaMaestro. All of us have been saying that letting Nastasic go is one of the biggest mistakes City is doing. I just don't understand it. Looks like Pellegrini has made up his mind
Seems that way, we can't stop the powers that be, on the bright side I'm sure the way we are developing we will have more talent to come in the future.
Indeed we can produce top talents but again its a big blow to see him go if that's the case. Boyata has proven his not every reliable at all but Rekik is going to want minutes next season and its going to be Kompany, Rekik and Mangala with Boyata playing 4 choice striker. On the other hand Fernando Reges can drop into the CB position as well, his a natural defensive player.
i think boyata will be put on sale next year and rekik will take his place as a HG player/ 4th choice cb.
Do we have Demichelis next year? Lol isn't he going to retire? If Nastasic stays he can become 3rd choice or even 2nd choice next year.
^What about Rekik? His already been demanding for minutes and I can't blame him his been putting on good performances and could be soon breaking his way in the Dutch national team. If Demi can handle it next season, he can be our 4th choice because at this age I think he would accept the role and Rekik, Mangala and Kompany as our top 3 CBs. Or if we kept Nastasic that would be him plus the other 3 fighting for 2 spots which is going to leave some players unhappy and we don't want that.
I guess we have too many CBs then?!

Looks like Pellegrini rates Rekik over Nastasic then, which is why he is letting him go. Next year Rekik will come in and take over the 3rd choice spot then.

One thing I am not totally convinced about though - is Rekik better than Nastasic? Matija is tried and tested against the likes of Christiano Ronaldo. Rekik is not. They are only 2 years apart, aren't they? We are losing a gem no matter what.
Kompany is injury prone and he gets few red cards during the season, Demichilis is old tire we never know he may be punctured at any point. If both of them get injured or out of form at the same time then playing Boyota would be suicide.

It may be because of home grown quota and constraint of 21 players in CL, I don't think Nastatic comes under that category because he is turning 22 soon and we have too many internationals but Boyata is home grown player.

If I were MP I would have kept Rekik (if Nastastic were going to be sold) so that Rekik and Boyota can fight for 4th CB position.
I'm totally with you on that Tomi, I don't want Nastasic to go at all, hell I'd sell Rekik over him considering he is a proven player already in the EPl and UCL not to mention when in form we know what the kid is capable of but it seems as if Pellegrini rates both Rekik and Boyata above Nastasic which is pretty much insane and were going to lose out on one of the best young CB in Europe simply because we didn't have room for him. This is going to bit us the ass in the future.

MP is just taking this in the wrong direction. He doesn't want to lose out on Rekik or Boyata because their both homegrown players and Rekik is a loan and Boyata is simply happy with his role as forth choice CB. Mangala and Kompany are both starting CB in this case so it comes down to Demichelis or Nastasic. I just realized that Demichelis is playing his last year of his contract so why wasn't it better to send Nastasic on loan then next season bring him back into fold and would certainly be in form with the games his played and would be ready to fight for a starting place. Now where going to have to watch Serie A side steal a top talent for 15mil or something when the kid could be worth more then double in a few years time.

People be like "City is buying their titles". It sure looks a lot different nowadays with every top club spending big money in the PL as well.

The amount of wages you pay to players is a big factor. You have the biggest wage bill in all of professional sport. Biggest reason why players choose to play at the etihad.

Annnd your point is??

"wages...biggest reason why players choose to play at the etihad" - what is the biggest reason an employee chooses to work for one company over another, ah? What about Liverpool, what's the "biggest reason" for players that come to play for Liverpool, surely not to watch Slippery G lol? Let me put it as simple as any rational person who lives in the real world would understand, if you don't think that the biggest reason for most players, specially foreign players, to move to any club is "money," then it's either due to your sincere ignorance or conscientious stupidity.
+1
@Pewpew and Footy - I think both of you are a bit polarized. The answer is somewhere in the middle.

City had to start paying very high to initially attract talent. We are winding down the wages slowly (if you notice all the new players from the last window and this window have wages less than 100k a week) while we pay more for the marquee players.

Slowly but surely players will come to City to earn trophies and make history. Fernandinho let go of a 4 million bonus to get here. Fernando followed in his footsteps. Mangala came to city inspite of preferring London as his destination - because he has a starting berth and a change to win.

Things are a changing man. We need another two EPL titles and then people will stop talking nonsense like they have stopped talking about Chelsea. It is just a transition and it will happen. We are doing tremendous business in the last 2 windows. Proud of slimy Txiki and conniving Ferran.
+4
^ Brilliant.
Tomi pretty much summed up what I was thinking. The truth is City doesn't have the history to attract top players, so with our owner City pretty much used what City had, the money to build a team to make history and build for the future. Hell looking at the future already, City won't be spending as much with the amount of stars that are being produced in the academy and how well they did last season in the domestic league and Europe. People always assume City is after success now and without their owner they would be nowhere, well where would Utd be without Sir Alex Ferguson and his success that made UTD what is today? Every team started somewhere.

@Pewpew, after two PL titles, 1 fa cup and a capital one cup in 3 seasons do you still think players are coming to City only for the money?

Gritty display. I was quite surprised nobody mentioned Fernando. Man of the match for me. Made some crazy good tackles and saved us a sure draw in the dying minutes.

For that deflection he provided against Ayoze to save the goal he out-sprinted everyone to get into the position, including captain Vinny by a mile. Just fantastic. Classic CDM. We needed someone like him after our Dutch Lawn Mower.
EDIT: This post is supposed to be after Rustic's

Lol Rustic, it was pretty easy to tell who it was. All 3 move very differently. You should follow the numbers if that helps you initially.

I feel Mangala may not play the Liverpool game. Would make sense to introduce him during the Stoke game and then take on Arsenal and Chelsea after that. Whoa what a crazy fixture list we have.
It can be that, at times it was difficult to know whether it was fernando, Kompany or Fernandinho.. all got same shiny head..lol!!!

Yes it was so good to see Fernando in action, now cannot wait to see mangala in action.
@Rustic, once Mangala starts playing, there will be 4 of them with "shiny head" Lolll...

@Tomikato, couldn't agree more about Fernando man and here check out that Ayoze deflection one:

Fernando is a big dude, I was getting confused weather it was Kompany or Fernando.
+1
loving him alrdy! hard tackler
They don't call him the Octopus for no reason, you can't escape, he'll get there, as seen when Perez’s shot was deflected just wide. Oh Fernando welcome to City :)

@moe, same here :/
Yeah looking back Fernando is the player to have on the field, his tackles are top notch and I never really noticed how fast the dude actually is. Its hard to believe a talent like him never played senor international football. He wants his time with Brazil and just like City gave that exposure to Fernandinho we can give it to Fernando Reges as well. Very happy his on our side.
Looking at Brazil's performance against Germany, they really needed a natural CDM and Fernando would had been a great choice.
I think Clichy put in an outstanding performance especially as he was playing out of his regular position and Dzeko too. Hope Dzeko will continue to do this.

Everywhere I see people slagging Yaya, that he kept giving the ball away which led to some dangerous late Newcastle attacks, he was a bit off, but his average passes last season was 71 but yesterday he made 86. He had injury during the end of last season, so cant expect him to be fit at the starting.

so on the whole all of them did good, and its the starting day, things will get better.

What happened at one time, I saw Jovetic stopped everyone touching the ball??? He really needs more playing time, I hope MP gives him that..
+1
wow.. we meet again.. after last year cat-mouse chase which saw you guys edge us to the trophy...too early for a battle of this magnitude..top of table battle.. but everyone is already pumped up for it...gonna be a great match!
+1
Do you guys think Mangala will start against Liverpool? I'm pretty excited to see him make his debut.
Yeah, there is a chance. But what's a bit concerning is the fact that Nastasic wasn't even named on the bench but Boyata was...a sign that he may be on his way out :(
He claims that he's not fully match fit yet. So a start will probably unlikely, a feature off the bench Possibly.
@Footy, I logged in to say exact same words, how did you read my minds? :)

Guys, anybody knows where is our City TV reporter of last season who used to interview players and record city today video, she was good looking than current one.
^ I heard she was on maternity leave, I think he she might have given birth already. I mean she already taken dude, tough luck! lol!

Mangala might start, not sure why he shouldn't tbh considering I think his athleticism would shut Liverpool down because they are going to bring their speedy players of Sturridge and Sterling so we have to be ready. He said on Citytv he wasn't 100% but I'm sure his not injured he might just needed some training. On the other hand it worries me that Boyata makes the bench and Nastasic is know where to be found but I doubt his going to be sold.
+2
@ManCityBlue, hahaha...I think you're referring to Nicola McCarthy - yeah, I don't know what happened to her...but the good looking one is Natalie Pike:

https://twitter.com/JTSmyth/status/445842374502404096/photo/1
Thanks Footy and Moe. I agree Natalie is good looking but Nicola has innocent face and I like her laughing style so I just miss her smiles in our website videos. lol
Is it me, or does....... Yaya look over weight a little bit?
He does!
I noticed he couldn't bomb forward, was a bit wasteful and sluggish despite having a hand in the first goal. He needs to hit the gym hard because we need that Yaya who leaves his mark every single game.
too much cake??
+8
If he's becoming a nuisance to you guys you can always send em back to Barcelona for us??? please??
Clichy messed up a lot at the RB position and some of his passes didn't stick. Looked clumsy, hopefully we can have Sagna or Zaba ready for Liverpool or were going to get run over. On the other hand Dzeko was just so good today, not only was he a threat but he was so in tune with the team and his passes were just clicking with the likes of Silva, Nasri, Toure etc, not to mention he dropped back to help defend early on, good performance from him. Also were extremely lucky to have Kompany, Newcastle looked dangerous early on and wanted a goal but every time they caught us on the break Kompany stopped them with composure.

Overall, this wasn't City's best performance but we were good enough beat Newcastle. Its nothing to worry about considering its the first game of the season but expecting a much more fluid game next week and Aguero to start. Jovetic might be good but with Aguero's goal I think his earned the right to start next week ahead of Jovetic.
hehe dont be so harsh on clichy. i fully agree with u on aguero starting the match against lpool only if he is fully fit! wouldnt mind seing him and jovetic setting up each other just like his partnership with tevez few seasons ago too
I think Clichy put in an outstanding performance especially as he was playing out of his regular position.
Top of the league & well deserved win! :D
+4
good job..let's see if liverpool will let you stay there...
+1
We'll be fine as long as we "don't let it slip" lol...
+3
Damn, Aguero comes on and scores, You don't even understand how much I love this guy
I know, I loved him since he was at Athletico years ago, and then I got the news he was coming to my humble City :)
