Wish we improved on corners after all these time.
You know thinking about it, we see teams that upset or even beat Barca and they all have one thing he common, intensity! We lack that, we have individual players that are bring intensity and is naturally in their game but as a squad we lack that. Teams stop Barca's on going flow of attacks by closing downs their players and hit them on counters. Its easier said than done but if others teams can do it, why can't we? I don't even think its about formation anymore, its about what we can bring to the game and how badly we want it.
The problem was that we did not have enough pace/intensity.

We hardly ever transitioned from defence to attack and when we did try, we lost the ball much too often. It was Barca attacking us again and again and again in the beginning.

Hopefully Pelle realizes this and changes tactics in the next leg. I am hoping to see Navas on the right wing (as much as I don't rate him lately I think he will make a difference) and Bony to start instead of Dzeko.
Yeah, we need someone like Navas to tag team with Zaba one Alba who's very dangerous when his making his runs. Bony to start ahead of Dzeko is a good move, Dzeko has some good chances that he blew but we need to get more crosses into the box. Barca were a bit tense about handling crosses and that could come as an advantage for us.
Something to cheer you guys up, just imagine if Barcelona played the current United squad. The tie would be all over in 10 minutes.
Then Barcelona would take their foot off the pedal and United would be back in the match.

Im not sure if the issue has been addressed, i haven't been on here in awhile, but what was up with the selection of Fernando in the midfield? Fernandinho opened up the midfield with the brief glimpse he had. and played better defense than fernando had done all match. When silva and nasri are playing more defense than a cdm, we have a problem. It would have been nice to see mangala keep his place as well. Give the kid a chance
To be honest, Mangala should had played instead of Kompany lol. Demichelis was better than Kompany yesterday.

Fernandinho HAS to start ahead of Fernando - specially when we do not have Yaya to drive forward. I think Pelle got a lot of things wrong yesterday. We lost the battle in the midfield, badly.

Haha im not doubting demichelis! there were a few chances in which kompanys pace saved a few goals. I just feel that we aren't structured enough in defense to play slower cb's. against an opposition like barca. Our defense is frantic enough that on the counter demichellis would be caught up trying to run back into position. Fernando needs to be demoted to under 18's so he can figure it out. Physicality means nothing when you cant get next to the opponent.

Fernando made some good clearances but was extremely sloppy and couldn't really mark anyone. I though for sure he was going to see a red card anytime soon. I wanted to see better from Kompany but he wasn't good at all, he saved our team with pace yes but Demichelis was playing a lot better. Tbh, I don't mind seeing Mangala play, the guy plays better in UCL this season than in PL or actually against big opposition. I don't know if its a underestimating problem with but he did a good job against Bayern&Roma in the return legs. On the other-hand as good as Demichelis is, his slowly and if his caught out of position his going to lose out in the battle for pace.

I've said this over and over again. If were not playing a MF of a 3 against Barca, they will slice and dice on us all freaking game. I want to see:
-------------Hart--------------
Zaba----Kompany-Demichelis--Kolarov
-------Milner--Yaya---Fernandinho
-----------Silva-------------
-------Aguero---Bony--------

Well, we we shot ourselves in the foot again with that 1st half display and then that red card. Let's hope we'll have a better game against them in a few weeks.

Good job to our City U19s though for going through to the last 8 of the UEFA Youth League, they'll face Roma in the quarter finals.
God bless Joe Hart! Not many Gks can save a PK from Messi!

quite a few actually haha think he's missed 4 in his last 7 or something

Manchester City! Respect for not parking the Bus...and played beautiful football. Aguero's strike was mind blowing. City is the Best English Team...City dont play dirty or park bus (coward football). City has confident in their talents. In another day City could have won today's game. They deserve it, if not atleast 1 point. Only if City had the consistency, they would have been leading the League now. City is Welcome to Camp Nou to showcase their talents...Best of luck to both Teams..May the better wins.

Very well said.

City can continue playing the same way and getting beat home and away. Because pride is much better than winning. And dont play dirty too. But somehow, you will always manage to get a red card at home just as there is some momentum going on.
I mean the guy that got his leg injured just managed to score a field goal with a water bottle after leaving the pitch.

What a golden advice :)

@Shovwar: 1 point !!!? from which game ?
nice comeback is 2nd half and if you guys keep same approach for camp nou leg I can easily say that tie isn't over yet

Just want to know your opinion on pellegri starting lineup , especially that big hole is mid , I think you guys started with good pressing but as soon as game setteled and we exploited that gap it looked over for you guys ,

also I know navas is not been very good for you guys but I felt he had classic qualites of player that trouble our defenses and he would have added better balance to your team while playing on Wing with Silva in hole and kun as alone striker .
Navas has been a one trick pony lately, but he would had kept Alba in check - that would had been useful in itself. Nasri let Alba ghost past him.

I think Pellegrini is being too romantic about the 2 striker system. Giving Barca space in the middle is like putting a shotgun in your mouth and having your opponent pull the trigger.

Dzeko was in there to exploit the aerial vulnerability of Barcelona - but did you see how many time he missed? That's the problem. I think Pellegrini will start Bony/Aguero in the second leg and Navas on the wings.
Good second half from you guys. 2nd leg will be a cracker.
Stepped up in second half, overall Good game.see ya camp nou..
