So seems like Mangala might be leaving for Inter on loan. Wtf - we now have fewer CBs than last year AND we are playing a back 3. We really need another CB or we are doomed.
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/40954441

Pep is buying another CB Tomi
LOL Ttk you massive troll!

Btw Jonny Evans will be forever in our hearts. He started the avalanche that was 6-1 :P
Then he must be worth at least 50m. Stones-Otamendi-Evans crazy defense right there :D
Someone will come in Tomi, the whole plan was that if we found no one, Mangala would stay but if we did find a CB to sign then he would leave. Better be a good CB, most likely left footed, although we haven't been linked with any CB for a long time now, Pep must be keeping this one quiet.

My worry is getting another FB, we don't even have any make-shift FB/WBs. If we lose 2 FBs to injury during the season, were seriously fu***!
Wait a minute... I thought the Johnny Evans link was B.S. Did we actually bid for him??? Dafaq????
lol yup, 18m rejected. That money can't even buy lord Evans right foot! Oh, he's left footed btw, just exactly type of CB you want Moe :p
Watched our friendly against Girona. We lost 1-0 but it was a training match but Pablo Maffeo was MOTM. Kept Sane quiet for a large part of the game, even pegged him back to play more defensively because he was bombing up and down the pitch. His got grit and determination that would suit the league, defensively, his gotten really good and has no fear pushing up on the field. He looked like he was out to prove himself to Pep and I hope Pep took notice. Also watched Douglas Luiz, looks strong for a 19 year old and his gotten that flair about him and can dribble his way out of trouble. Looks like both Maffeo and Luiz will play a lot of games for Girona, I hope they do well.

Also, Gundogan played some minutes, good to see him back and Mendy is finally training with the first team and back from his injury.
Gundogan is back!! He might be eased into the team slowly though.

Did you see Bernardo's game? I am telling ya - he is going to be key for us this season once he settles in.
His ability is there but his going to need a few more games to really settle in. Pep is fully aware of his talent and wants to ease him into the first team. So far his been good, in fact I saw him pulling off some serious skills against 3 Girona players where he just dribbles past them like nothing, his something else.

Although I gotta say again, Maffeo should be in our plans in the future. He really impressed me, even had a small tussle with Sane during the game. The guy ain't playing around, he wants to earn a spot on the team.
So Mangala will stay if we can't sign a CB by the end of the window, I don't mind unless we start playing a back 2, he wasn't bad at Valencia at all but he struggled with the tempo of this league when he was with us the first time around, he seems much more comfortable in a back 3 but I can see why Pep needs another CB. When we lost Kolarov, we lost a defender that can spray passes from the back, although I still hope we get at least 2 more players before the window closes, a CB and a LB.
Are we still looking? Haven't heard any rumors lately.
Me too. Although if one FB goes down, were in deep sh*t, so I do hope we can still bring in another FB and a CB.
True, but we'll have to face more premium prices unfortunately, don't know if the club's going to go even more crazy with the spending, but Virgil and Bertrand would seal our signings of for the season 🙂
I would love VVD but his too expensive. I just want some decent players, worst case we keep Mangala and just sign a FB. The problem will be finding a FB/WB that fits our system, won't be a surprised if signing the FB first is higher priority even though we need a left footed CB.
I seriously think we should keep Mangala he's a decent defender if given some time and stop spending on defender, especially now after Neymar's move the market is even more inflated. They even asked Pep in the press conference if he's glad he did his business before Neymar's move. I bet all our fullbacks would have cost us 60-70 mil each had we waited until now
Good point but their no denying that Pep will want a left footed CB, if not now Mangala will stay but if where going to play a back 3, having already lost a left footed CB who can deliver a good ball in Kolarov, I won't be surprised if Pep signed someone else. Other than that we need that FB asap!

Although we have yet to offload the likes of Bony, Delph and Nasri.
Good win, but lacklustre display in the middle. Pep could have started with Yaya in the CDM position. Fernandinho is a fighter but he is not the one to split the opposition.

Aguero missed a sitter in the first 3 mins and then Jesus with that header. First game and we looked rusty, but we should do better in the coming weeks
Yeah, I was confused to see Fernandinho start instead of Yaya but I guess Pep is saving Yaya for Everton. Everton will be a much tougher fight but overall a good win. The first game is always a hurdle but I see good potential. What I love is how loaded our bench looks, really happy with this team.
+1
I agree with that moe, Sterling, Sane, Nasri, Silva etc, that's some good depth.
+1
hey Tomikato did you get my wall message?
So what you guys think will be the XI against Brighton?

I do we stick with a back 3, let Walker and Danilo loose and play Aguero and Gabriel Jesus up top together. I want to see us play really well to set the tempo up as we have Everton right after them and Everton always play well against us. I can't wait for the PL season to kick off!

----------------Ederson----------------
-------Kompany---Stones----Otamendi---------

Walker-------Yaya/Fernandinho------Danilo
---------KDB------------------Silva------------
-------------Aguero-------------------------------
------------------------------G. Jesus-----------
Exactly what you have here. Yaya will definitely start IMO he is a beast in this position looks like he might become our Pirlo.

I know it was preseason and blah blah - but boy I haven't seen such long range power passing by anyone before.

Also, playing the 3-5-2 means we will play through the middle a lot and Yaya's influence will be very important to cut through those lines
So now every team is going to play 3 at the back?
^ I guess. I know Pep kept trying to play the back 3 last season but we failed due to lack of quality FBs, ,but now his going to utilize it. Although its not like his going to stick with it as his first choice formation, Pep doesn't really have a first choice formation, he changes it throughout the season depending on who where going to play.
Rumors are said that Silva will not renew his deal with us that expires in 2019. He wants to return to the Canary Islands and play for Las Palmas in two years time with the condition that they remain in the la liga by then.

If its true, I'm going to be so sad. I wanted Merlin to retire at City.
Me too but I'll still be happy for him, atleast he won't be going to another PL club.
Yeah his given us so much but in two years time, his only going to be almost 33 years old. His still got quality, and I don't want to lose but if he really wants to go, must respect his wishes and let him leave.
Yeah, and he has to make way for the younger players too, I just hope he'll pass on some of his wizardry to them.
He has two years to pass on his wizardry. Otherwise he cannot leave lol
Now where linked with Ben Gibson? Another English CB, lol! I don't know how I feel about this. His a left footed CB, so I can see the interst, with Inigo Martinez headed to Barca, I can see us moving for him. Tbf, he is a better CB than Stones from when I saw him play alongside De Roon but this has another 50mil written all over it, and honestly, no way is our board going to let Pep sign another player for 50mil.
Mbappe was seen taking a pic with Sane. Mbappe to City confirmed.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DGecA3NW0AEJNjM.jpg
I think he has a better shot going to Madrid then Man City. What's the point of buying Sane then lol? Or Jesus? Unless Aguero is leaving next (which is not happening) Mbappe won't join us. Although his going to be so lethal in the future, never seen anyone like him and his only 18.
A strong win for us. We look really good coming into the new season. What a difference a FB like Danilo makes when his running up and down the field, Yaya and Silva will be key and KDB I think will break the number of assists this season, as his been providing all pre-seaosn long. Ederson doing so Neuer sh*t in the middle of the game but overall this guy has potential to be world class. What a brilliant keeper.

My only worry is still at the back, we need another LB and a CB. Otamendi played in LB today but its only because Mendy is still injured I thinkl. Pep might have to go for a LB who can carry those demands of playing LWB but also come for a decent price.

Although I think those moves will come once we offload the rest. Iheanacho is gone to the Foxes for 25mil, Fernando Reges is gone to Galatasary for 3mil, we still need to offload Bony, Mangala and Nasri.
I still remember when i said we should sign Danilo everyone ganged up on me here saying he would be the worst signing ever
he's still not the best signin ever...how come city are not winnibg like these in the pl..all these friendlies wins is POINTless
^Because the season hasn't started yet?....

Bony is still training? the transfer window is about to shut? i say we should sell him for 1 million to whoever comes first for him just get him off the wage bill ... he's so useless
Wages is the issue, many clubs actually want him but his probably on on 100k a week. He would have been sold but he doesn't want to bring his wages down, much likes Nasri as well who is on 140k a week deal.
