Good news! Finally:) Aguero could be back by the 10th of Jan and Lampard is going to be staying until the end of the season. Very happy to hear that, been waiting for that kind of news for a while. We could be having our goalscoring machine in no time but is the transfer plot for another striker going to be off? Considering both Aguero and Jovetic are due to be back soon but are still both so injury prone???
Hey guys, is Clichy a sure shot starter for tomorrow? Last GW he didn't play.. Need to know for FPL.
Big chance he'll play tomorrow.
Okay, thanks.

Juventus vs napoli. What a game. The battle of two argentinians but higuain came out on top.
Haven't watched it yet, I better go watch it!
http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/funny-james-milner-plays-up-to-his-boring-reputation-as-man-city-legend-chappy-comes-to-visit-video/

If you wanna know a bit more about milner. LOL! Boring boring milner!
+1
Gotta luv Milner! Boring Boring Milner!
That's brilliant. City fans can consider themselves lucky for having such an amazing social media team. It's miles ahead of anything else out there.
Milner should get an Oscar for the acting because I would not have been able to keep a straight face.
So what's up with the rumor of us getting de bruyne? He didnt do any good at chelsea so i dont know how to feel about this. It was said that kompany recommended him to the club and he definitely knows better than us? Some insights from chelsea fans would be nice, do u guys think he'll fit into our system?
Not a Chelsea fan but as Bundesliga fan, the guy has been tremendous for Wolfsburg. His sets up goals and really turns on that attacking side of their game. His got a great touch, his passing is dead on and he can make these quick but important passes in the box which find the strikers. Not to mention his stunning goals from distance.

I think the difference between him and the De Bruyne at Chelsea was the pressure he was facing and the game time. He plays with more freedom and joy rather then the amount of expectation that he faced from the fans and the media. Then theirs game time and unlike his time and Cheslea he was not getting enough time because when he did get minutes he was preforming as well as the other players he was in for which send him down the pecking order and it was hard to make your way up when you can see the amount of attacking talent that Chelsea had. He wasn't getting enough minutes because he was constantly having to preform up to this standard and their was no room for growth for him.

Do I think we need him? No. He would be a nice addition and for him to come in with possible 30mi rumored fee someone either Silva, Nasri, Milner or Navas would have to leave because that kid is going to be expecting a lot of game time. He would be playing out wide and frankly he would offer a lot more then Navas because De Bruyne is not only fast but his got a bag of tricks and one hard winger to stop for any FB. Problem is we've got a spending restriction that's about 50mil and spending 30mil on a player we don't really need won't make much sense when we could use it on signing another striker which we need more then another MF at this point.

If anything we should leave that for the summer because I don't think he'd want to leave either. Wolfsburg is doing really, really well sitting in 2nd place and its been rumored that the team could also land Shalqiri so their going to get even stronger. I don't think De Bruyne wants to leave unless his guaranteed starting minutes. Imo, I'd rather see us push for Depay because that kid is good! One hell of a winger and we don't have any true wingers apart from Navas and Milner who have the legs to push up and challenge.
+1
Obviously not a Chelsea fan, but I've been a KDB fan since his Genk days, so if I may jump in.

I believe Moe66 covered it pretty well except for the large misconception that he's a winger. He does very well there because of his excellent crossing (13 assists already, most in europe's top 5 leagues I believe) and his atlethic ability.

However he's a number 10 by trade and that's where he's playing now for Wolfsburg. He's absolutely vital for their current succes, as well as for Belgium (main reason we qualified and did well on the World Cup).

Perhaps he reminds me most of Gerrard in his younger days: vision, passing, long range strikes, incredible action radius and he simply makes most things happen for his team. Perhaps a bit more flair and less physical though.

And yes the Gerrard reference is meant as a compliment ;)

Don't forget he's only 23 now and he's almost never injured so he can easily last 10-12 more years.
To give you an idea, I love Mata but if I could swap him for KDB I'd do it in a heartbeat. Anything less than 40M for him is a fair price. It wouldn't suprise me one bit that Kompany recommended him to your board.

Actually what system are you playing nowadays? Maybe I can answer a bit more thorough then. Sorry haven't been able to watch any City games this season.

@Moe66 what makes you say City can only spend only 50M? I'm assuming it has to do with FFP but how do you come at that number?
+1
^ I know his a number 10 but I said as a winger because in City we play with 4-4-2 with 2 wingers not a number 10 play-maker, he would play as a winger at City, although his a beast play-maker at Wolfsburg. Silva usually cuts in and plays in the middle rather then a winger and with those stats that KDB is picking up I'd love to have him to rest interchange with Silva but not this January.

The 50mil is from the restriction we got from UEFA thanks to our spending and losses over the years. Its actually 49mil for the next few windows but I'm hearing we might be cleared by the start of the 15/16 season.
Ah wow, so you'll only be able to spend more than 50M from the next winter transfer mercato on? That's a tough one, considering the average age of your squad.

Didn't know City still played 4-4-2, thought it was 4-2-3-1 with Aguero alone up top. I'm assuming it's Nasri and Silva still as the prefered (inverted) wingers? And Navas as back-up?

You're right, in the current system De Bruyne would be wasted.
But what position does Lampard play? He's a CAM too, doesn't Pellegrini change formations then?

Actually what are the most needed positions that need to be adressed in the transfermarket?
When eveyone is available, 442 is the usual formation with aguero-dzeko or aguero-jovetic. The injury problem among the strikers forced us to play 4231 for most of the time this season. Our team is pretty much sorted in every department, maybe it's just a matter of upgrading or replacing some of the injury prone and old players such as demichelis (backup cb, but for me i think he's the best so far), sagna (backup rb, we need a young blood to learn under the aging zabaleta not another old man) and probably jovetic (we cant have more than one injury prone striker in a 3 ppl strong strikeforce, good player but we cant keep waiting).

I dont want to say this but if milner decides to leave city (together with the departure of lampard), then maybe signing kdb will make more sense. But again, those 2 are englishmen, and we have a quota to fill.
+1
Like Blueheart said most positions are covered, it only depends on if MP is looking to upgrade in certain positions. For the Janaury transfer market their as been talk of a signing a striker considering Aguero, Jovetic and Dzeko are out until sometime in Janaury which leaves us in a tough predicament. Problem is what striker? A permenate? A loan deal? The fear might be Augero's injury might take longer or injuries in all three might happen once again during the second half of the season which would leave us weak again in race for the title or if we end up going through in UCL. Anything more will probably be in the summer but for now I can see a striker coming in.

Lampard plays in CM role with a DM like Fernando or Fernandinho beside him but he doesn't start a lot he mostly comes off the bench to finish games off or provide attacking force from the CM position.

Haha just realized, I came here to answer a question, ended up asking a boatload of questions myself. Thanks for the answers guys, much appreciated! :)
No problem!
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/11306851/Manuel-Pellegrini-claims-Man-Citys-financial-restrictions-have-handed-advantage-to-their-rivals.html

I don't know about that if I can agree with that. Tbh, we still have a strong core of players to choose from compared to other teams that are really struggling. Not just a strong core but a strong core that understands each other and many of them have been together for a more then 2-3 seasons. Obviously we don't have the luxury of rotating as much as we did last season but after looking at Arsenal and what they had to do in defense this season, we can't complain to much. Also I think the restrictions have forced some of our players to step up and force MP to use players that he has on deck. Milner is getting a lot more minutes and for the first time we get to see an academy player like Pozo come into the picture which I'm happy about because we don't get to see many academy players.

I think if anything other teams failed to take advantage. Arsenal didn't strength certain positions, Liverpool failed to find a replacement for Suarez and Utd are still a working progress despite the money they spend on strikers it will only do them so much. The only team that has done really well is Chelsea
+2
Completely agree with u mate. I would say our team is the most experienced one in the league and this injury problem is a test to our growing mentality to be a champion. We have been coping with it well so far and i hope more players will step up and carry the burden.
yep, I'd say the transfer shortcomings/failings of Arsenal/Liverpool and, to some extent, Utd have helped separate the chasing pack from Chelsea & City at he top.

You and Chelsea have the most balanced squads, with plenty of league and european experience.
+1
Looking at our team today it looked like a mini Barcelona from 2-3 years ago - tiki taka-ing our way into the opponent's goal.

Milner played well - but I think Nasri might do a better job in that position because Milner lacks that instinct to rush towards the goal by anticipating those crosses.

I think Yaya played well today. DeMichelis is our new rock of Gibraltar at the back, inspite of his age related inefficiencies. Mangala is definitely improving.

Let us hope that Jovetic is back soon. The rest of the games are winnable, but we don't want to drop points. We scored 3 but for long periods we looked a bit toothless today. We did dominate with the passing though and played some beautiful, beautiful football.
+1
Mangala is going to be benefit from this games if he brings his A game every single game. Demichelis is certainly started to turn into Mr. Reliable at the back with his cool laid back gameplay and I'm started to like it.I don't know if many understood the importance of that 3rd goal Toure scored. Palace have the tendency of finding their way back in tough situations and we looked flat in periods through the game. I was just praying for the at 3rd goal and what a goal it was. Toure is slowly getting better and better. As for the striker situation, I don't mind waiting. Jovetic will come back soon and rumors are Aguero is going to come back early Janaury. Milner did well but Nasri touch and anticipation for what he can do with passes in the 18 makes him a better fit, just wish the guy would try to score more goals.

On what note I've always noticed that whenever we put on those tika-taka-equse style play guys that need to be credited are Zabaleta and Kolarov. The amount of work our FBs do really spark the style we love to watch, gotta give those guys props.

Could been different if Palace got that goal and the pressure would have been on us for the last 20minutes but we did a good job to finish by scoring a third goal. Good 3 points! Keep up the pressure on Chelsea boys!
