Darn! we are linked with every player this transfer window per media. Lol
SUPRISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
its all good stuff the more players we are linked with the more famous our club becomes ... only top clubs get constantly linked with different players because thats how newspapers sell their papers but good for us gets our name out there.
Umm - I wouldn't base how famous our club is based on players being linked. In fact, we have been consistently linked with only two players - Jorginho and Mahrez - which is lesser than in previous years.

So FootballisCity based on your logic our club has become less famous this year?
United lose and end the season without any trophies, perfect weekend!

So in all this Martial controversy we forgot that Laporte was not selected either, ha! But I guess not everyone can get selected. Maybe during the Euros he will have a better chance after a couple seasons with Pep?
+1
I thought Laporte was playing for Spain no? He was born in France but I think he chose to play for Spain
+1
hes french.
He stuck it out with France but has yet to get called up.
Lol, Iniesta could join us as a player/coach. I hope that happens.

Silva and Iniesta on the same field. Lord have mercy!
+1
Lol. It will be like Lampard, legendary but fleeting. Not sure how I feel about playing Iniesta - who is still a world class player but we might be wanting Silva to play that role in his last few years.
Im low key disapointed arteta is gonn leave. Feel like he was a great coach to have in the squad and could have improved immensely under a couple more years of pep.
^ Yeah, the boys loved him as well. Tough sh*t but you can't deny him a big job like Arsenal. I honesty hope he does well.
I’d be gutted if it goes poorly for him. This seems like a potential sacrifice here. Somehow has to get this piss poor squad up to snuff
Martial could be the versatile forward that Pep is looking for - he can across the front line. He has missed the World Cup and might blame Mourinho for it :P
This would sadden me to no end
its quite sad that he didn't make it to the world cup, such a talented player, he will definitely have to leave United if he wants to save his career though.
I would welcome him with open arms. His one hell of a player but pulling that move off his wishful thinking.
He is not for sale!!!
Screw Hazard and Mahrez. Martial can give us what we need and will fit into pep’s game. pep loves those hybrid forwards and that’s what he is, and a tricky mofo as well

@yaldho I know he is not for sale but wouldn’t you recommend it for him if you were his friend or brother? :P
And join the dark side? Hell Nawww!!!
The Dark Side is always Mourinho's side Yaldho. Can't get a lot darker for Martial at the moment either.
+2
Why is it dark for Martial? He is playing for a great club in England. I just dont see it.
@Yaldho thats the thing he is not playing he's on the bench most of the time, especially from the moment Sanchez arrived.
+2
Has anyone seen Stones since Laporte was signed? But it's Pep, so it's ok I guess.
Stones has actually been injured a lot in the past couple months. Also, the Kompany comeback and Otamendi being present has meant that Stones' chances have dwindled nevertheless.

@Yaldo - I am still shocked as to how Martial did not make it to the french squad. I don't personally rate Fekir, Lemar and some of the other attackers selected over Martial. Maybe it is a balance thing, maybe it is a form thing. Deschamps has always been like this. He did the same with Nasri last time around.
It's a trust thing. Martial is hot and cold. He can dissapear in games. I guess at a stage like World cup, you need players who can guarantee a certain level of performance. Martial on his day is unplayable, on an off day is pretty much useless.
Hmm that’s a fair analysis. Martial is a confidence player - but he can really terrorize defenses like i’ve seen very few people do. Regardless of him being a rival - I really do enjoy seen him when on form. Which is why I really think he needs a boost. Pep has turned Sterling around completely, even Sane for that matter.

Jokes aside - Martial needs someone to play him regularly and allow him the freedom to fail when trying to create. Seems like mourinho isn’t allowing that since he likes his conservative approach.
Pep signs new 3 year deal! WOW everyone thought he goes everywhere short term but he will be here at City for 5 years at least maybe more if he signs another one down the line. I think managers love the Premier League in general and want to stay in the EPL for as long as they can.
Even in his third year at Barça, he's often said it would be a dream for him to coach in England. He looks up to Sir Alex and I've always thought he'd last longer in England than elsewhere, even in Spain.

In Spain the media were constantly on his heels, less so in England. Then the terrible Mourinho years really wore him out and he even became a bit of an unwanted player in the political struggles of Catalunya. On top of that, the owners of City have dreamt of having him as manager since they took over the club, right?

I hope he'll stay at City for a long time and spread the faith of attacking football everywhere :)
Can’t imagine City without him at this point
I think its something about the premier league that attracts all the best coaches. I think the media was on his heels in his first year in England too they constantly asked him if he should change his "philosophy" when things were not going his way. I think the media is the same everywhere. Maybe its the stadiums in EPL that attracts best coaches? maybe its the better salaries? maybe its because the EPL is more famous and more ppl follow the EPL than any other league? I don't know what it is but most if not all coaches wanna manage in England.

Some (Rafa Benitez) are even willing to take a less ambitious club just so they can work in the EPL.
Sorry mate you are over exaggerating the EPL. I mean - I love the league but saying Pep extended because of the EPL is lame.

It has lot to do with the support of the club and the outlook that they have promised him. Very relaxed and trust based management of the club towards Pep. That means a lot. A manager needs a good project.

The EPL has been having good projects lately - but not like it’s the promised land among other leagues. We have tons of good managers elsewhere
+1
worlds top 5 or 6 managers this season were in EPL, can't say the same about other leagues.
So apparently Jorginho agent stated, we can sign Jorginho when both Napoli and City agree on a deal for him. Thought it was going to be Fred but I'll take Jorginho. When we played them, I remembered the #8 for Napoli considering he was calm in possession, made a number of interceptions and his passing was crisp and his range of passing was pain in the a** for us. Didn't realize that was Jorginho himself until now lol! Now I know why Pep is interested.

I have feeling Mahrez will be joining us as well. Considering rumors are Patrick Roberts is a player they wan as a replacement for Mahrez. We might add him on the deal + cash to sign him up.
I want mbappe lol but Mahrez is a beast just a tad old for the long term
If city gets Mbappe I cry.
I dont know how good jorj is. Anyone watched much serie a this year?

Also idk about you guys but i dont want mbappe. Id rather Jesus become the man and if you recall we have buy backs on iheanacho and enes unal who i think will be very solid striker in the coming years.

I like the patty roberts to leiscester for mahrez deal tho. good for both and mahrez gives us such a different look
@Tomi, You better calm your greedy self down lol! Lets just be humble and try to sign Neymar instead.

@Khessler, I've seen him play a few games in Serie A this season and the games Napoli played against us. He was actually a stand-out especially against us. His good in tight spaces, good interceptions/standing tackles, quick turns, very quick to find a pass, able to control midfield. Although I don't think he will have as much as time on the ball in the PL but Pep will get him into an elite level.
Pep will be a guest on a special edition of MNF with Garry tonight. Will be worth a watch.
nice. thanks for the heads up !
That was a cheeky present from Pep to Garry lol
Mancini appointed new manager of Italy..."this is football it is important and it is very strange"
Good. Get Balotelli back in the team.
Sadly as Pablo Maffeo has been sold to Stuttgart for 9 million euros on a permeant deal. Although its been state that we do have a buy-back clause on him as his agent confirmed.

Tough luck. Maybe Pep doesn't think his ready yet despite having a great season with Girona and helping them finish 11th in the table despite only getting promoted last season. The Bundesliga will be a huge challenge for him.
We do not have a good, young RB. With Walker and Danilo we might not need another one for a year or two. Maffeo could have held on for another loan but ohh well. Maybe Pep did not believe in him as much as we think.

Angelino could be next at this rate.
^ Ikr, that's why I'm suprised the move happened. Danilo is not good enough but maybe Pep is willing to keep him around.

Angelino had a good season at NAC Breda and some rated him one of the best LBs in Eredivise but no way will Pep bring him back for the first team. If Maffeo ain't ready, no one is. Also, what happens to Manu Garcia? He was so vital for NAC Breda's promotion into first division in the Dutch league and this season was a beast for them.

I know English football is rough but I would love to see some of these youngsters playing in England. No better way to prepare them for the physical demands to play in the league.
I thought Maffeo wasd a shoe in to come into the team next year. But i guess were going to model ouyrselves after barce selling promising talent to have them mature and prove their credentials on their own with a buy back clause. I think the thinking might be another year of the squad the way it is because we have a lot of young talent that are slightly too young and probably are not believed to be able to help for a UCL push. Manu, Angelino, maffeo, Brahim and foden are probably are brightest youth but to get them into the team now would be difficult.

After next year its highly possible theyre preparing for another small transition as after next season, David Silva, fernandinho might play their last season for us due to age and aguero if he stays this summer will undoubtedbly move on next summer.
