Just watched Jadon Sancho play for Dortmund against Hertha Berlin. The boy is quality at 17, lots of confidence. Lacks finishing but great on the ball and provided an assist. Wish he stayed at City as I think he would have developed well under Pep but he choose to leave. I'm happy for him but wish we still had him.
Im so happy that weve turned a corner to a team who no longer throws huge sums of money for guys like sanchez anymore. its taken a while but since the takeover we finally have a competent wage structure.
The team learned their lesson after ffp. The wages had to lowered
and the basic salaries for our guys need to be less than 180k a week. KDB earns a 160k a week but the top players get performance base bonuses which is a good alternative. Prior to being signed, I'm sure this boys are notified that no one walks away with 300k and Sanchez would have caused an uproar if he joined considering guys like Silva, KDB are killing it for us and are on 160k while grumpy a** Sanchez wants 300k or more. I thought he was after trophies but I guess not. Heck even Bayern offered to buy him and they back out due to his demands.
Maybe Sanchez gave up on trophies and decided to replace it with money? He's not getting any younger I guess. I hope he'll be happy with his achievements when he retires and don't think back and say what if he joined this team or that team what he could have achieved.

Maybe I'm overthinking it, maybe all that matters is cash.
There is a clear logic to the way were offering wages too. Our Long term guys who have ben major for the team like Yaya and aguero make the most over 200, KDB being imperious just now gets to that point, SIlva is in that upper eschelon too but not over 200k. the younger guys aside from sterling are all closer to 60k -100. a much better balance, a ceiling has been set and the inscreases are doable, havin a guy make over 300k when the players who got us here make 100-150k less wuld have caused numerous problems. SHows great intelligence by our management very happy.
Inigo Martinez will most likely or should likely happen. His release clause is 28mil and his only 26 years old compared to a 30 year old Evans who's valued at 30mil. I don't care about his experience, I would not even pay more than 10mil for him.
+2
buying Evans to me is ridiculous, we need young good defenders for the future.
+1
Maybe we should swap Mangala for Inigo Martinez ... a win win situation for both clubs :D
I hope Pep and the boys took a long look at the Liverpool game. When Liverpool pressed they pressed with 3 or 4 players sometimes, closing down one player with the ball, blocking off passing lanes and giving the player no time to analyze his surroundings to pick the correct pass which resulted in errors. Also while defending our press their midfielders came back to defend and did the same thing pressing from the back which when any error occurred they counter attacked swiftly.

To stand a chance at beating Liverpool our midfielders needed to play the same game by getting back as quick as Liverpool mids and press with 2 or 3 players and counter from there, but I'm afraid Pep didn't change his tactic.

When we press we press 1 vs 1, while man marking players, which forces our opponents to go with long balls over the top, we did this against Pool, however the difference is and has been for most of the season, our midfielders never goes back as deep as Liverpool did because the opposition was always mostly in their half or they weren't pressing with 3 or 4 players like Liverpool did, they were pressing 1 vs 1 which we can handle by simply passing out the back and starting an attack.

We can learn a lot from Liverpool, and I hope the boys did after that game.

Yeah, Liverpool transition so well as a unit in multiple numbers and can go from a deep defensive set up to an attacking unit that is pressing us until we push the ball back to Ederson. Very tough to stop as our team is not as flexible as Liverpool, Klopp's is willing to defend and attack but with Pep we are constantly on the attack, playing a high-line. Tough to see Pep changing his way but its something to keep in mind.

Looks like were out of the Sanchez race. Tbh, I'm kind of glad, his wage demands are crazy and we have other priorities to deal with such as a LB and CB. Not going to lie, he would have been a sick addition but for a guy after titles he sure is demanding a lot.
Lol, I like how the club go about business, people give us stick about spending but the club don't just throw around cash if they think it's not a good deal. Let him go where he wants to, I hope he get's the titles he's looking for.

Lb,Cb and maybe bring in Douglas Luiz for Fernandinho as he's not getting any younger either.

I'd take this defeat and defensive errors now instead of during cup or CL matches. At least we still have a comfortable buffer in between us and 2nd place. This better be a wake up call for pep and the whole team. Teams are figuring things out on how to deal with our tactic and pep needs to think hard on how to improve our defence. Ederson, stones, aguero, were having an off day, and anfield is such a difficult place to play at..we still got this boys.
^ Long time Blueheart:) Good to see you back!

A good learning lesson indeed. Our boys have been steam rolling teams in all competitions. Now we've been brought back down to earth. Where going to need to get use to playing in tougher atmospheres, this is a useless excuse for a team planning to go all the way.

Get some defensive reinforcements and I think we will be fine.
I think it wasn't just one player (Stones) to blame the defeat on, there were several players piss poor today for whatever reason. Did you guys see how rusty Aguero was?? every time he got the ball his 2nd touch was too hard and the ball would bounce away, he was also easily pushed off by the defenders and a lot of times found himself wondering around on the wings when he should be in the penalty box. Sterling was poor which is why he was prolly taken off. Delphi got injured and Danilo is just not good enough of a full backup why didn't David Silva start or play ? i don't think fatigue is the issue cos he had the most amount of games off lately ?

United fans are so happy and nasty as if it was them to stopped us from going the entire season unbeaten. And their fan ask me why i called their fans "typical united fans" just look through their page, i hope they finish outside of tope 4 and then look back and say "i wish City had won that game this way Liverpool wouldnt have finished in the top 4 instead of us"

Last but not least its been over 4 hours since the game and I'm still in shock!

Yeah Aguero hasn't exactly been doing that well. Really needed him to step up today but the whole team looked off, Pep might be right, the Anfield crowd is tough and it might have got to the boys. Not to mention we have not been tested and pressed like this by anyone. Let this be a lesson for our boys that we need to be able to handle playing under pressure in that kind of atmosphere. Although we were starting to put things together towards the end but not good enough.

As for now, we need to step up on our transfers. LB and CB in asap! I hope we can land some experience at the back, I love Stones and Otamendi, they've done well but both are not vocal voices at the back like Kompany. We need someone to organize the back.
+1
Since we are out of the race for Sanchez we should go for the Real Sociedad defender i think he has a release clause of 30 mil with Kompany always injured we need a replacement.

Anybody know when Kompany's contract expires?
You want to buy a LB after just spending 56 mill on Mendy?! Why not look to your youth team
+1
not 56 mil but it was 50 mil thats what BBC reported, i don't know why rival fans keep on increasing the prices. And to answer your question, its because we lost 2 left backs in Kolarov and Clichy but only replaced one with Mendy, thats why we need one more. Before you say Walker and Danilo, those 2 replaced Zabaleta and Sagna.

As far as bringing in a player from the youth team, if we were a team fighting to be in the top half of the table then yes we could do that, but considering we are a team that wants to win the Champions League we have to buy the best there is.
+3
@Paddy, if we had a youth player good enough, he would have been in Pep's first team a long time ago but we don't. We have youth players from our academy coming up in other positions but not at LB, our best young talent at LB has been a makeshift left back for cup games in Alex Zinchenko but his a CAM. I would love to see him play LB in PL games but I don't think the kid wants to play at LB tbh.
it's hard not to admire Pep's tactic when Pool scored 3 goals in quick session and Pep calmed down the players and still playyed his own style, many of the managers ( Mou,Conte ) would bring on a defensive player and try to calm everything down and accept defeat, and on another day Aguero would've equalized at the end
+2
With fans and the media constantly bashing Mourinho I'm not surprised that people think Mou would bring in a defensive player if he's 3 goals down -_-
Pretty amazing we managed to lose by one. I mean defensive errors aside (the goals were some sloppy gifts) the passing was just so so poor. So many poorly placed short passes. It's a good sign that we can play like absolute shite and still make it close. Not sure why people are saying it's the best game of the season???? Only one team showed up today.
Look stones needs to be benched. Not the same after the injury, he's slow, indecisive and weak. 3 goals from defensive errors that could have easily been avoided.
