so this is the end for kompany as a player for man city. too bad we couldnt give him a sweet taste of CL before he left. this makes me sad, next season or two, most probably aguero and david silva will follow suit. luckily pep is here to ensure the backbone of our team will be as strong as before with de bruyne, bernardo and sterling.

look forward to see komapny becomes our manager in the future.
Damn shame to see Kompany go. He had a really good season but no better to go out, then to go out on top. A model captain as I still remember the day he took the armband from Kolo Toure and ever since, his been great captain. The injuries took a lot out of him and had he never been injured, I honestly believe he would have been the best CB in the world for 5-6 years. He would have been in the world XI multiple times but even with the injuries, whenever he did return, he always managed to put on a great performances. I don't think, we will ever have a captain like him again, players like him are a dying breed. Thank You Vincent Kompany and good luck!
The world XI is a joke anyway. Kompany was always a much better captain than Ramos and most seasons he's been a better player too. Some player who have been in there for years seem to have been guaranteed their spot merely by their historical achievements. Even my beloved Iniesta didn't deserve it all the times he's been voted into it.

But the focus is on Vince. And yes, you will not have a captain like him again for a long, long time. Hugely influential and charismatic, a towering presence on and off the field for more than a decade here.

Thoughts on Kompany leaving for the player/manager role at Anderlecht?

Would you guys have preferred to keep him around another season or are you happy to see him pursue a new challenge he is passionate about?
I think Vince himself would've preferred to stay at least one more year at City. But Anderlecht called a few months ago to offer him this role and he most likely made up his mind that if Pep no longer saw him as the right man to captain the team and be a core player, he'd take up the Anderlecht offer.

I'm sure Pep and Vince have a great relation and they must've discussed this thoroughly. But both of them are highly intelligent and honest, so Pep must've told him the truth of his plans for the future, where Vinnie might've had to be happy with a backup role. I assume Pep must've told him he thinks a man like Kompany deserves better and I'm sure Vince himself would not be satisfied playing second fiddle - he's always been the sort of man to be the leader and centre of all activity. Slowly fading away isn't his thing.

Personally I'm happy for him he could leave in this spectacular way - the English treble, *that* goal and the admiration of pretty much the whole football world. But he's far too good a player to retire from playing the game, so a player/coach role might for once actually be the right decision. He's going to be Anderlecht's best player from the get go. How he's going to combine it with a very challenging coaching role at a club in turmoil will be the big question.

All the best to him, even though I'm a fan of Anderlecht's biggest rival Club Brugge, who took over the n°1 club spot in Belgium a few years ago. Let's hope the healthy rivalry with them can arise again with him at the helm.
Kompany was a rotation player for the last 3 years under Pep. His role wasn't going to necessarily change but Kompany has something most can't do. Put on a good shift after a long injury lay off. Pep could always count on Kompany no matter what, I'm sure Pep would rather lose Otamendi instead of Kompany. Although whatever the reason maybe, I'm going to really miss Kompany.
Congrats on the English treble!!!

crazy thing it could have been more. Aguero didn't even play.
Manchester City is a club where TROPHIES ARE GUARANTEED :D
True dat!

congrates and please give david silva cl medal next season
Jesus show some mercy already!
Zinchenko needs another year as a sub before he can be a starter, defensively he is suspect.
He ain't even a left back lol
Zinchenko's absence in the champions league cost us the defeat. Zinchenko has improved a lot this season.
+1
He rrally isn't.
going forward he's good, but sometimes he gets demolished against good wingers, not often since City got the ball most of the time.
You got to give him credit for filling in that position, he is still very very young. Probs be moved into a more attacking role when left back gets filled

Hey guys, I just wanted to apologize for anything I said recently that could have offended anybody. It's been a stressful time in my life and the dramatic end of the season didn't help. I do enjoy being a part of this community and appreciate all your guys' participation.

It's been a hell of a year of football and I'm looking forward to the next one.

You are a salty troll thats all it is. Talking about "tin foils"? spreading nonsense around. I never had any problems with any of the other Liverpool fans, in fact I post more in the Liverpool page than I do here. If you think you are having a hard time then its best to lay off footy instead of pouring your salt around forums.

And then you complain about ppl like foooty for their hate against Liverpool, its because of salty trolls like you ppl like foooty come around. I now totally understand foooty's feelings towards your club. Had you won it we wouldnt hear the end of it, so happy you didnt.

To each their own. Just trying to bury the hatchet.

Footballiscity he didn't just post this on here you know so don't feel it's exclusively for you , and tbh that was a outrageous claim from yourself which made him mention the tin foil. What salt are you talking about.. You seem to be the only one upset, yourself and footy do seem to be very obsessed with liverpool and it reflects in the way you write stuff. I don't believe I have ever seen any sportsmanship from your self or footy but whatever. Moving forward, from now on let's try all be civilised.

@Sergio which outrageous claim? the 49mil that UEFA penalized City and then returned that money back? It was KGB112 that posted that claim back when he was most active ... the money UEFA charged City was returned back which it was so whats so outrageous about that claim? and as far as the "salty" part is concerned read KevMo's post he admitted it himself that he was pissed off that City won the title so he's obviously being salty.

FFP had investigated City many times before but never found any wrongdoings and i am pretty sure it will be the same outcome if not City will take it to CAS and CAS will throw the case away. In general everyone knows that FFP was created to protect the "history" clubs which is bad for football because football needs fresh blood ... the likes if City Chelsea PSG are good for change.

I guess Sergio refers to the claim that NYT is spreading "lies" about City because LFC owners have shares in the paper..
