Just to let you know I have updated the cake thread:)

http://www.footytube.com/forums/general-chat/football-cakes-30694/

What makes Yaya take a huge pay cut for a team that isn't even in CL?
If Ancelotti gets the sack by Real, I'm sure his headed to City. Not that I want him as my first choice but at this point, I really don't want MP hear for next season. I'm sure his going to turn down the Milan job considering how bad the situation is for them. Does anyone know much about Ancelotti favorite formation? His type of game he likes to play?
You know if Newcastle get the drop, I kind of want Moussa Sissoko. His got pace, strength, accuracy and capable of playing out-wide of a holding role in MF. His got lots of quality and would be good fit for City.
Sissoko impressed me when the magpies first signed him. Don't know...he's on a long contract, not cheap then

We need defensive mid more, Italian press give Yaya to Inter as a done deal on to be finalised after the last game...on a 5 year contract, lol if that's true Mancini really has a lot of faith in him
How about Wanyama
I don't think were going to sign another DM with Fernandinho and Fernando around next season. I think its best to rotate between them and I'd rather keep Milner to play CM or bring in another CM who can dribble well, score from distance and a can play a deep-lying play-maker role with great distribution. If we want to play a safe game, I would want both Fernan/Fernandinho in MF but we need a MF that can contribute more to the attack like Yaya does or did.

Maybe Pjanic or Kovacic but Pjanic I would pick because his a top player who can play in CM, his very hard to mark and would join our Balkan clan at Man City.
Milner is leaving so we need another versatile player
It's difficult to predict formations when we don't even know what is going on with management. Pjanic is a good worker... in a Balkan clan without Kolarov-Dzeko-Jovetic by the look of things...

Can I say Kovacic is raw and overrated? Just a poor excuse for selling Coutinho
We're declared 2nd from today, let's play our 4,5 EDS players against Southampton.
+1
Yeah that's what I was hoping. But we will see what Pelle has to say.

Play Jovetic, FFS lol
+1
Id rather see iheanacho play than jovetic
+1
Also would be happy to see some ends players make it in the squad
MP won't as much as we all would love to see, I doubt it. MP is going to want to finish on a high note.
Read Liverpool is interested in Jovetic
you should pay them before they change their mind ^^
In a swap deal with Sterling? No thanks. Better in a swap deal with Pogba
+1
So Jovetic and Milner? I don't f*****g want Sterling, I would keep Jovetic, give him more playing time in that #10 role and see how he does, push Yaya to rotate with Jovetic behind the striker and guarantee Milner a starting spot in CM where he likes to play. We don't lose anyone and the last thing we need is a big headed 20 year old looking for a big salary when he certainly doesn't deserve it.
+1
I hope Sterling has no suiters this term.

He has been a disgrace for snubbing Pool who have really stood by him. I mean, he is far from the finished article and demanding 100k or more is just nonsensical.
+1
I think Sterling is like Shaun Wright Philips, a lot of promises when young but not a good player when time passes by(He didn't do any better at Chelsea and City in his 2nd term).

I need to admit Sterling has poor finish than SWP. So it's wastage of money to buy him.
+1
@Tomi, my hope as well. I hope he hate from the fans and boos when he steps on the pitch next season with Liverpool because his demands regardless of what his agent says or not have been disrespectful to the club that brought him up to what he is today.

Sterling's low center of gravity and speed is killer, that's what makes him so good but apart from that, he lacks in other departments. His finishing is poor and if he had more goals in to his name this season and brilliant displays, the likes of Madrid would be after him and I would see where his coming from for the 100k asking price his now where near a finished product and needs to stick with Liverpool.
no sterling please. keep Jovetic
Apparently Scott Sinclair is about to join Aston Villa for 2.5m.
That is awesome. I'll buy his train ticket.
+2
sinclair could go just praying we keep milner
There was a point in time where i forgot his name.
+1
The best in form team atm.... we all wanted you to not let Chelsea run away with that trophy? Any manager over that morinho smh....
+1
So with 2nd place secured you guys still want Pellegrini out? Makes little sense now does it?
You asked this question earlier too, the answer remains the same.

Pellegrini did some horrible blunders last term. Does not change anything. I hope he leaves, but if he stays it will only be because we are waiting for someone worthy to take his place after a year.

If Pellegrini has to redeem himself, he has to do a few things:
1) Play and foster youth
2) Have the balls to drop underperformers
3) Fix the defense
4) Have an adaptible philosophy based on opponents
5) Inspire the team
+1
^ Pretty much what Tomi said. MP doesn't cut it here anymore. I don't want him to manage us and because I'm feed up with his whole game, in fact I hope we get a new boss this summer, maybe Vieira but it seems like MP might keep his job this summer.
Yeah sorry for asking again. But the situation has changed quite a bit. You were not guaranteed top 4 then. Now you are sure 2nd.

Personally I feel there is no reason to sack him considering the results. And especially not for Vieira. It's like some Utd fans want Giggs or Neville to take over after LVG. Vieira has done nothing with the U21 to justify his managerial quality at the top level. Where is the EADS in the table? He (like Giggs and Neville) better goes somewhere else horning his skills first.

Back to MP, you cannot really blame him for not playing youth. He is like Mou, short term results driven, mainly because of the pressure having to deliver immediately. The underperformers you mentioned have picked up form again (Yaya, Navas, Kolarov...) so it kinda justifies MP trust no? The defense is fixed through the TW not during the season. The adaptability I agree but it's the only point he is weak at. The last point is subjective. How can you know as a fan he is not a good motivator?

I don't see Klopp coming to City tbh but mb if Ancelotti becomes available for example, are you willing to sack MP for him? His records at CFC are on the same level if not worse than MP.
To look at results alone is naive. Were played awful this season, there was nothing redeeming about this season. We did't even see any youth players. Our substitutions are horribbly boring and our team is increasingly old. 2nd place bears no trophy and with how badly we played its undeserved. Its not that players are underperforming necessarily its that the system is weak and unwilling to change.
Being a manager for short term results becomes pretty idiotic when you bet on the short term and see no results.

Mod Edit
+1
The way your club is run imposed the short term vision itself. All previous coaches have been sacked as soon as results dip. So results are the most important factor when considering the success of a coach. This is true for almost every teams nowadays.

The fact that you are ranting for his sacking is the most obvious example. At the end of the day, results are not good enough for you, be it due to one reason or another (youth, motivation, adaptability...).

Never had a coach be sacked based solely on his lacking in youth or sub. The team age is the problem of the football director not the coach. You play bad but still manage to win 2nd so it does prove the system is not that weak. If he changes it and results dip he will be the one sacked not you. Don't change what's working is the basic mentality.

Mod Edit
OK, so I removed the personal jibes. Apart from that this has been a fantastic conversation.

@DrDe - Khessler put it very eloquently - this wasn't about the last few games at all. The sacking has been coming all year.

The inspiration is not the problem of the team age, we have players who are just not giving their all. Look at Yaya, Nasri - they don't track back. Navas has been as bad or worse than Valencia if you will. He is a winger who cannot cross.

We have lost to the dumbest of teams this season. Not only the big ones. Even the championship teams face City with high hopes of breaking us down. That is a problem with mentality, something we never had.

The main issue is - Pellegrini thinks nothing is wrong - which is because he has no answer to the problems. Lately we have been playing 4-2-3-1 and the oppositions have been lower teams, which is why we have been winning. Silva/Aguero have been making the difference, really.

So to sum it up, we need someone who can inspire the team and take it to the next level. Seems like all Pellegrini has done this year has been aging the squad.

I blame him for different sorts of issues with:
Nastasic
Jovetic
Milner
Yaya
Navas
Kolarov
Kompany
Fernando
NEGREDO
Nasri

If he gets another year I'd be really surprised. ALL THE RIVALS including you DRDe, are rooting for him to stay :D

Pellegrini had the team to challenge the title, but his naivety lost us several games which could have made the difference.
+1
What other people such as this united fan can't understand is that how you play does matter because it was the inherent quality of the players and luck thy got us to 2nd place. We don't deserve it and someone like pelle have a valid call to say "hey look I came in 2nd"
The issue is we regressed. Nothing positive occurred. What is second when third gets you the same thing. It's just a runner up shout in the annals of history.
lol Tomi that was not my initial intention but now what you said, come to think of it... ^^
@Khessler, more so - if we let this stay we will slip even more next season. A second is acceptable if we improved and Chelsea just outdid us. That is not the case.

In the next year or two we will see United and Arsenal mount very strong title challenges and we need to get back to being City that entertained and won. A fresh strategy is required.

No to old players like Sagna, Demichelis, Lampard, Caballero. All of which were brought in by our Pelle, while shipping out or freezing out young blood.
Khessler has it right on point. We didn't improve from last season, we regressed and we regressed badly. Imo, I don't want to sound ungrateful but from the way we've been playing we defiantly are not the 2nd best team in the PL. In fact its nothing to celebrate bout this season, we won the double last season but this season was the complete opposite. Although I'm not going to base MP position on winnings and silverware but from our style and effort. Lets be honest here Silva, Aguero and Hart have been carrying Man City throughout the tough times we've had this season and the only 3 who preformed well all season.

I look at the defense and I wounder, what could have been if we still had Nastasic and Jovetic was more involved playing the #10 role where he can set up goals and get his own goals. Not to mention MP gave up on Ricards who I though deserved more but in his way he signed old players who didn't really improve our side, while he stuck with a formation that didn't bring the best out of our players. Now Milner is about to walk out of the door because his been overlooked a number of times and knows he has no future with us. All this things are adding up and I don't see how were going to improve next season with him still around. Even if we sign more stars, its not going to work if you can't bring the best out of them, he seems to focused on keeping some players happy while leaves others are left in the dark.

This whole season has been a mess and I want him gone. I personally like the guy and his laid back attitude but I think his done here.
Pellegrini is not that bad but he's also not that good.
Until this club has an absolute top manager there will be no progress, especially in CL

As much as I dislike Mourinho, give this team to Mourinho, for example...and tell me things wouldn't be different
So who would you want to replace him? Ancelotti? His records at CFC as I said is worse than MP right now. Klopp? He has never managed a big club before. Rafa? Same level as MP at best, cup specialist but look where his teams always end up in the leagues.
Ever since we got our first title after the takeover, we were in second place. Pellegrini didn't improve the team or any players. He won the title again bcoz the team and management wanted to prove something at that season. The backbone of our team is still the same old players shows the utter failure of recruitment players.

We are still bad in CL, even though comparatively we were in easier groups during Pellegrini's time.

I don't think anyone else is available now, so we will be stuck with him. Like I read somewhere, its not an improvement for PEP to come to City.. lol!!
Spanish mafia's errors..paying off now.

Next season Chelsea, united, Arsenal will be fighting for top spot, even Liverpool, Southampton, Spurs will be right behind them.

I cant see MP making any improvement, but I would love to see me proved wrong...!
^ Exactly I want to be proven wrong next season, if we are really stuck with him next season, so be it, he only has one year left anyways. I know he probably won't do much with youth players but if he tactically adapts to the style of different teams and target their weaknesses to our advantage than I'm going to be happy. I don't want him to be a hot-head but he needs to law down the law and drop players that aren't preforming, when players feel threatened that's when they really step their game up. For example Joe Hart, he got dropped for Panti but he came back stronger than MP imo did a good job signing Willy because that kept Hart on his toes all season. That bought the best out of him, every single game.

He needs to get some competition for guys like Kompany, Zabaleta, Yaya and Silva needs more help with the creativity of the game. Kompany is great but his been off but regardless he knows his better than Manga and Demichelis so he knows his getting his spot back. Sagna is no competition to Zabaleta, enough said. Yaya can't handle the CM position, either push Yaya in the AM position or sell him. I want him to be evolved but not in CM for City. Now Silva, needs someone else to play off of, give Jovetic a chance and or play Yaya in the AM position and drop Milner to CM. Its really not that hard.
Boy this united fan is dense. What does it matter if Klopp hasn't managed a big side before, mourinho was at fricken porto before chelsea. Ferguson was in scotland or something before united. A new perspective is what I'm asking for.
Mourinho started out as a translator at Porto and look where his at now. No reason to deny Vieria the management position if MP is sacked.
Err Dortmund is a big club surely, or did I not get the memo?
Drde159 I said "top manager" don't name Rafa pls

How is Ancelotti not top dog? He won la decima just last year

Any average manager will achieve decent results in the league, given the squad depth and quality. But we want better CL results

I still root for a Vieira challenge
After watching the full game, what a match that was. I gotta say, I love Swansea and Gary Monk. They are an interesting side to watch and opponents you must repeat. They got the double over Utd and Arsenal.

Starting with our defense, it was the culprit once again. Looking at the first goal, its like our center-backs are just ball-watching and aren't capable of speaking. Why aren't either Mangala or Demichelis telling Fernandinho or Yaya to mark Siggs? Both of them are watching Zaba and Navas fight Montero while Siggs is just standing outside our 18 with no one marking him until its to late. Their no leadership or communication from our center-backs, not even with each other. The second goal, Demichelis couldn't keep up with Gomis and Mangala didn't even know where Gomis was, why are they not talking to each other? Its just so horrendous to watch. Our MF, its just f*****g ridiculous to have a goalscoring Yaya play CM when his not going to be able to help Fernandinho whatsoever. He needs to play farther up the pitch. Lampard is gone next season, place Yaya in that f*****g position! We need a new CM who can contribute with passes and has the physical ability to help his DM on counter-attacks. As for attack, man Milner is such a stud, I hope some miracle occurs and Milner signs a new contract for us because we need him a lot more than MP things. The way he connects with Silva and makes those runs down the flank, is just great.

Joe Hart was splendid today, by far the best English GK in the game today, his top class and certainly saved us so many points this season, hats off to Harty!

Also we need to get some competition for Zabaleta and Kompany soon. I think with Kompany, no matter who starts his the first choice player with Demichelis not being good enough and Mangala still learning the ropes. We need a new RB as well, Zabaleta has gotten way with a number of bad performance defensively. Just like Kompany, when you have no competition you start to get lazy and way to laid back.

Would love to see Matteo Dariman from Torino in RB and De Bruyne from Wolfsburg to replace Nasri.
GK: Hart, Willy
RB Darmian, Zabaleta
LB: Kolarov, Clichy
CB: Rekik, Kompany, Mangala, Demchelis
CM: Milner, Zuculini
DM: Fernandinho, Fernando
Wingers: Silva, De Bryune, Navas, Marco Lopes
AM: Jovetic, Yaya
Strikers: Aguero, Bony, Iheanacho

Forget Pogba or Firmino, I want to see Yaya and Jovetic play behind the strikers and really give Jovetic a chance. I would place Milner in CM because he would be the perfect player, hard-work, speed, tenacity, stamina etc. We won't spend much and still would have a good squad.

+1
Navas wasn't there on the pitch when we conceded first goal. He replaced Lampard around an hour mark.
+1
I must have though it was him, I was just starting at our defense waiting for them to react!
dont agree with de bruyne, i think he will be a bust.
Only if we picked up this kind of form, early in the second half of the season, we would have had a shot at the title.
