Happy birthday to the classy manager we all know and love! haha. We thank you Pellegrini.
+1
We're still learning in Europe, but we're getting a lot better quickly. The games are played at a different tempo and are refereed completely differently to the Premier League - which we found out the hard way against Barcelona last season, falling over, feigning injury, surrounding the ref, wasting time, breaking up the game etc. Hopefully we're a bit wiser to the 'big teams' tactics this time around and don't let it frustrate us. We've got every chance of getting a results against Bayern tomorrow night, however it's not that important providing we don't lose to them at home. Beat CSKA home and away, beat Roma at home and don't lose away. This would give us a minimum of 11 points - assuming we lose tomorrow. We should be better than Roma and much better than CSKA, and really should get out of this group. Bayern are in the nice position of being able to prioritize the Champions League over there domestic competition because they've virtually already won that before it starts.
Well not only are we in a pretty tough group but finishing 2nd isn't going to be anymore fun, we could end up getting another tough opponent while whomever finishes first might get an easier opponent. Finishing 1st should be the goal and we can do that by wining tomorrow.
What's your thoughts on a starting XI against Bayern? They've started to play with a 3-4-2-1 lately but I'm guessing their going to go with 4-3-2-1 or something like that considering they beat us with 3 man MF and their not going to risk it. Although how is the attack going to look like?
-------------------Hart-----------------
Zabaleta---Kompany---Demichelis----Clichy

-------Fernandinho-----Yaya Toure--------

Navas------------Silva-------------Nasri

-----------------Aguero------------------

This line up I want to see for us, we could even put Toure beside Silva. Even though Aguero does not play lone striker that well, I think it is essential we keep a compact midfield, with Toure making some of his forward runs and Fernandinho covering and Silva working his magic I am sure we can get goals. and of course Navas making those wild sprints stretching Bayerns defense, should be an interesting match if we are at the top of our game.

I can't believe I actually put Demichelis in there lol.
Look at our front 4. No height. We need Dzeko in there guys. I just dont see Aguero being effective alone. Not against Dante and Boateng. This means we dont cross in the air at all. Very very predictable.

Btw - Zabaleta is suspended. Sagna will start. Agree with Demichelis being there.
Do you think Pelle will start demichelis with chelsea being on sunday though? He is a work horse, but the man still might need a break. What do you think about the possibility of Mangala getting his debut?
yeah tomi I was thinking of starting Dzeko and Milner instead, and maybe bring on Aguero and Navas, for tired legs.

I don't know if I would debut Mangala against a rampant Costa lol, But if he is ready I think it's possible.
Tomi is right, Boateng, Dante, Benatia or the other CBs for Bayern are tall guys, Aguero is going to have to out skill them but I mean that's going to be tough and they'll know crosses aren't going to work considering they have a leg up on Aguero. Dzeko needs to be in there at all times.

On the other hand I feel like we need to start with 3 CMs rather than 2. Gotze, Muller, Bastian, Alonso, Alaba are all technical players and could overrun our MF like last season and its not like Yaya has been at this best, placing Milner who can provide energy might be the right way to go about it. The MF battle will be key, we need to be able to keep up with them.

Looks like out young stars are getting the job done.
Looks like Fernando won't be back until the 27th and Jovetic until the 21th. Its on PhysioRoom.com
Oh my, the purple kits are real. Check the official club page. Can not decide if I love it or hate it
Its not bad but its not great, its just ok. Although last seasons 3rd kit was just brilliant, loved it a lot.
This years bestt kit is the home kit, in my opinion.
Guys is Mangala injured?
His not injured, his just not ready yet and with Demichelis/Kompany doing pretty well, MP has to pick the right moment to bring him in.
No, Probably not fully fit/match sharp as yet.
We must take no less than 3 points away, 3 points away! from the Little Horse Chelsea...but first we have to deal with the Giants Wednesday, ahhh tough days ahead.

And where is snitch! I thought we were going to have "no trouble beating Arsenal"... -_-"
I missed the game and just watched the MOTD highlights but man we could have conceded number of goals early on, Lampard looked lost and Fernandinho looked unsettled. Very panicky moments for City but then again we could have won the game during the end their but sadly we hit the post 2 times. I love how Pellgerini knows Arsenal's fullbacks push up and with playing Navas he can catch them on the break when their out of their position, tactical brilliance from the engineer. On the other hand I don't want to see Lampard starting in big games before his had a few other games under his belt. Imo Milner should have started, his energy is insane and the dude can run all day.

On the other hand I don't want us starting games like these again, the way we let the opposition come at us was surprising. We have to dictate the game from the get-go, Arsenal could have been 3-0 up in the first 25 minutes. I fear Bayern could do the same as well, their more dangerous and harder to break down now consideirng they have that beast Benatia, wondering if were going to start our beast Mangala? Although its hard to deny Demichelis a starting place at this point, his actually playing really, really well.

Another thing I noticed is why Dzeko didn't start? I mean without him we lose that aerial threat and muscle in the attack to hold the ball. Arsenal defense held City for a long period of time but not until Dzeko started.
@Moe, I watched both game as well as MOTD highlights.Usually I watch MOTD, they're too much bias and talk about always big names, English names and teams they support.

Arsenal had just 1 clear chance(Welback's chance because of Silva's miss back pass) in first 25 minutes but they said they had 3 and should have been 3 goals up.

After few nervy minutes(probably first 20), Fernandinhoo was our best player by miles but they mentioned Kompany was our best player because he is high name player than Fernandinhoo.

Even though I didn't like MP's excuse of blaming referee on both Arsenal goals but he has some valid points, if it was mentioned by any other managers(AW,BR, JM, LVL or any other English mangers) they would have mentioned and analyzed it saying he has a valid points.....

As soon as after Dzeko came Arsenal were 2- 1 and sitting little deep and defending plus Kolarav came in left and Nasri in the middle that gave us little more advantage in our upper midfield so it seemed he had little impact, he did not score a shiter.(Don't take me wrong Dzeko is helping us and playing great).

And I don't think MP will start Dzeko in any of our these 3 games(Arsenal BM, Chelsea).
MP has to start Dzeko in any of the 3 games if we want to win. Aguero and Dzeko simply works because Dzeko can play as the target man and drag defenders with him while Aguero will play one touch passes along with the AMF in order to cause havoc and take shots in that free role which serves him best. Also like I said Dzeko gives us that aerial height unless we wanna play a short Aguero up top alone which has happened and it hasn't worked unless we catch teams on the break and that's never a given other then that CBs will tag team on Aguero and his going to be shut down immediately.
Marcos Lopes just scored his 1st goal in Ligue 1. Well done Rony!
