So what do you guys think? IMHO Pellegrini should now focus on cementing the top 3 position. I don't mean to have a small club mentality, but financially we HAVE to secure CL football. That's the only way we will be able to beat FFP and have a chance at rejuvenating our squad. We cannot afford to pay crazy sums like what United can actually afford to if they don't make it to the CL. Pellegrini has to think tactically and do a little bit of a Mourinho now. We should be closing out games and have discipline to grind out results.

Arsenal are much more dangerous than anyone has ever given them any credit in the last few years. I have a strong feeling they will ditch their #4 reserved spot and finish 2/3 this year.

United, with all their stars and as badly as they have been playing, have been grinding out results and will be a tough team to beat when we play them later this term.

Liverpool will be buoyed by their victory over us and they are honestly gelling together very well now. We are playing So'ton and Spurs in the end. Going to be very difficult games.

We really need to post 12-13 points in the next 5 games.
+1
To be realistic we will be out of CL in that return leg, so the whole team can concentrate on catching Chelsea and win the league again. 5 points are feasible, we can win and top 3 isn't good enough.
Now I wish we still had Mancini
Totally un-biased question:

I've noticed that in the last (can't remember how many) games, you guys have been relying on your old guard. I mean, the players your team brought in were supposed to try and "depose" the starting 11 right? I don't really see and of the new transferees playing any better than the guys who were there before. :/

also, if you were Pellegini, what would you do: either motivate your current players? or buy someone new in the TW and sell some?
Yes, the fact is that the new players have not improved the squad at all. The whole point of 'wholistic' football was to introduce talent with the same ideology. Instead the squad has just aged without any reinforcements. We stand a risk of no trophies for multiple years now.

If I were Pellegrini, I would either buy someone that can improve the team, OR blood youngsters. OR drop players when they under perform.

Some players Id like toes us sign this summer.
Mateo Kovacic- great dynamic center mid for inter milan.
Samuel Umtitti- great young french center back for Lyon (better than mangala)
Ricardo Rodriguez- fantastic left back for wolfsburg had a good world cup.
Cahaglu (butchered that)-attacking mid for beyer leverkusen who's been awesome.

+1
All of them are fantastic players. The only one I would say is probably too undeveloped if Kovavic
+1
I think the point is that city need to redesign the team by introducing young talent rather than splurging unsustainably on older players
+2
Mateo Kocavic is a really good player but would he be ready for the physicality of this league. His only 21 years old and still developing, I like the fact that his a really good deep-lying play-maker but the PL can come of a shock to some players coming in from a slow paced Serie A.

Umtitti I think is a one hell of a talented player but no point in judging Mangala in his first season, cut the guy some slack, remember Demichelis in his first season? Also we have Rekik and Nastasic on loan and would much rather see both come in considering its cheaper.

Ricardo Rodriguez is going to be tough, I think his top quality but with City also being interested in De Bruyne who I would much rather see join City rather than Canhaoglu, who still developing as well. I don't think their going to let anyone of their players go for cheap because their going in UCL next season.

During the summer I want to see:
LB: Someone young
CM: No clue but Yaya replacement.
AM: Most likely Kevin De Bruyne
+1
Yeah I think my point is that we need to take the risk is sign these youngsters who still are developing. There is no reason why we can't be part of that process. I think debruyne is very good but I want us to take more of a risk in investing in young talent not just the academy program.
+2
Pellegerini should swallow his pride and Nastatic, get a good back up for silva and maybe ship out clichy and get a decent LB ( williems) and some pace on the wings wouldn't hurt.
+1
Wow, what an utterly terrible performance. In the first half we had few chances and even managed to get an equalizer. Although we usually play better in the second half but this was not the case today. To let in 2 goals from distance just goes to show how poor our defending was today, not to mention how many times Liverpool were opening up our defense. Our defense was weak, our MF was useless and our attackers were shut down.

Its pathetic the way we set ourselves up and I gotta give some bad props to Rodgers. His team had a tough start to the league in the beginning of the season and his switched his tactics to a 3 man back-line with makeshift wing-backs and 3 attackers leading the lines. His now leading Liverpool on a wining streak, that's what I call bold! He knows how to switch things up when their not working and is confident enough to do it. Then theirs MP, who seems to think playing that same formation and tactics will win us games over and over again. Its just not f*****g working and he needs to be able to change things up or give young players with hunger a chance or else his gone by the end of the season because his looking like Mancini 2.0 in his second season at City, he was stubborn and would stick with the same formation and players constantly even when we were losing. Although I can't blame MP for everything, the players were so s**t today, I mean they didn't look hunger enough to win it until the final minutes but it was to little to late as always!

Promote the EDS team to our regulars. Anything would be better.
+1

Very Sad to see how day by day we are becoming an ordinary team, with highly paid players who is not doing what they are paid to do.
+1
1 shot on target. 0 corner.
+1
It's kinda ironic how Nasri said Chelsea does not look like anything special to him this season, If Chelsea is nothing special what would that make us?
+6
SilvaMaestero, that's what I don't like from our players, they're sounding like Utd players of SAF's era. Nothing on pitch but everything on papers.

He was anonymous today and lasted 82 minutes.
+3
Too much talk from everybody if you ask me, more work less talk, I hardly see any Chelsea players making ridiculous comments or comments period, they have just been playing their game and look where they are.
+1
Kompany on paper "5 Point is nothing" on the pitch "Every attackers come and pass me 5 times and have a goal attempt"
