It was a flash back to old school "English" football seeing us play long ball for the first time in years. Roma packed the midfield to eliminate our distribution so we went over the top and created one on ones.

Feels like an ancient tactic every top club has pushed so far away from they forgot why it works at times. (Full disclaimer: I do not advocate this style of play haha)
Firminho(41,00 Mill. €) a false 9 is one Goal behind Lukaku(84,70 Mill. €) an actual number 9
was firmino's fee that high? i thought it was around £29m (33m €)
€30m paid to the Bundesliga club up front and a potential €10m in add-ons.

gotcha!
Something that has not been mentioned by any pundits is that we have become so good at dealing with crosses, alot has to do with how amazing our wings back have been and also just having that leader at the back in vvd. I no longer panic when we face pacey wingers like sane, lovren and vvd are so dominant in the air and wing backs are just so composed.
Also closing down the knock downs. Hunting in packs
Need to see Salah, Bobby, and the lot lift that trophy, especially Salah, it would be criminal not to see it happen, to hell with Bayern and Real they can take a back seat this year, you guys are playing better football anyway.
+3
We been playing sensational football since Klopp had his full season, slowly just getting better and better. I know alot of people will say it's all salah but it's not, it's the work that Klopp and buvac have put in. We play with so much intensity and belief instilled into these guys.
^yes, this. salah's clearly benefitting from klopps management, he's a brilliant player but klopp definitely deserves some credit for putting together this team of misfits that no one gave a chance to get to the CL semis
+1
What you guys think of the new picture? :P
+3
Sick!
+1
Thanks mate
Knock on wood assuming we go through who would you want Real or Bayern?

Real: we thrive against teams that try to stamp their attacking style on the game, but man to man are better as a whole.

Bayern: injuries everywhere but we struggle against composed teams that can tuck in and defend.
+1
Bayern for sure. In a game of such importance, there is only one team you should avoid, and that's Real.
+2
Bayern for me. They will struggle against our pressing.
+2
i don't think we try to stamp our attacking style..under Carlo, yes but not under ZZ......

we certainly didn't do that today and many times we let teams control of the match.. even the mid table clubs in the Bernabeu.. it annoys the fans to death.

There's still a lot of football to be played but i think you guys are better off vs Bayern than vs Madrid too. We'd comfortably drop our back line, let you have 55% possession and try to counter you instead.
+4
DeGaza
True, very true, but you forget one thing... we can do the same as well.. :)
+1
bayern have a great defense, but honestly how many times do teams really come at them over the course of the season. I think we'll be suited to either team. madrid's strong point, much like city (and roma for that matter), is their midfield, but we play on the wing much more. I like our chances against either, but don't underestimate either because they're both two of the three best teams in the world.
+1
Bayern Munich s**t the bed again. Madrid is there boogie man. Mueller and Lewandowski were just in each other's way today, Rubery was really unlucky not to score.
It's still anybody's game, but I can't see them beating Madrid at home.
+3
it's Bayern who screwed themselves up, and Real used their experience and won comfortably at the end, but the tie ain't over yet, but Real will be the heavy favorites
+2
Nobody gets to this stage without a wee bit of luck on their side
+2
Bayern gifted them that 2nd goal. At this level smallest mistake gets punished
+1
Lovren miss judged two headers should have had a goal and prevented one, but other than that put in a great performance. Even hit a bicycle cross into the box. He'll make a good back up CB next season.

Mane... scores a tap in goal. Other than that missed two sitters within a minute. Gave away possession on breaks. Did well tracking back to help defend. But can't help thinking he's leaching off the other front two with his numbers this season. He's talented and great on fast paced breaks (other than Roma) but in possession holds the ball too long.

Bring in a backup and let him improve or splash the cash on someone like Lemar? (Mane can play across the entire frontline but performs on confidence)
+2
Lemar is not worth it.
I would trust Klopp whoever he brings. Almost all his signings have clicked.
+4
I would say he's the weakest of the front 3 but when the other 2 are of Firmino and Salah's quality you can understand this perception.

Mane is still an absolutely brilliant player and an asset to your team however someone with a different skillset to his own would probably go a long way.
+2
lol! where will Lemar play? Too greedy when you know Keita is joining next season.
+1
I think he was implying Lemar take Mane's place bud. Both can play anywhere in the front 3. If anything Lemar is probably more versatile.
+1
Lemar is not worth the asking price, I would go for Pulisic who is alot more talented and younger. I feel bad for mane playing left wing, you can see he is not naturally gifted with his left foot
+1
Lemar into Mane's place in this scenario. But I worry a big money signing would bring ego while the front three and most importantly their chemistry have grown into what they are now.

End of the day @RedWave is right. Klopp places priority on chemistry and has said he doesn't bring just talent but the right attitude as well.
+2
@Bazinga what do you mean by greedy? Monetary wise or how the players play?

250mil war chest after Keita arrives and if Lemar is a greedy player he'll either change his attitude when he arrives or miss out on the opportunity to play in the current best frontline in the world.

All our current CM's are work horses and release the ball quickly to the front three. Keita will bring a new dynamic and carry the ball into the gaps between lines before finding the second run after the first runner creates space.
+1
What’s the rumor price for Lemar? 70m+ ?
Nobody is replacing mane and honestly I don't think anybody can. He is so potent and direct(unlike the other 2) going forward, any top team would be lucky to have him.
+1
I don't think mane is coming out of the team, just becouse salah is having a crazy season dont mean manes place is at risk. Think a younger player like Bailey would be a great buy.
+2
Sergio
I just love Bailey and I fantasize (amongst other stuff) that we'll buy him in the summer
+2
Only thing i doubt he is going anywhere but bayern, I think he has a much higher potential then mane, on the left wing anyways. Kid is destined to do really good, just wish and pray we could somehow get him
I cannot beleive my f*****g eyes, a liverpool fan saying Mane, our best f*****g player last season by a long mile , Supermane whose dick we were all happily riding last season , praising to the high heavens, is leeching off the success of firminho and salah... and no one is calling out this fuckery? Wow .. i mean 18 goals and 8 assists but go off .. im sure all 18 were tap ins his assists too were tap ins, imagine comfortably talking about replacing him ... f*****g hell
.
Damn Ox season over and will miss the world cup... f**k
+1
Such a huge blow... That's lallana, can and now ox all out for the season
+3
Feel bad for him. His really been doing so well. Deserves to start in UCl final and play in the world cup, his earned it. Tough luck, get well soon Ox!
+3
Mark my words. England will finish 3rd in their group.
+3
Guarantee Livermore will still get the call up ahead of Shelvey to fill his absence.
+2
James Milner breaks Champions League assists record
+3
The odds saying that
+1
Such an underrated player.
+1
Hes a perfect example of a player whose ceiling and floor are basically at the same level. Never plays poorly, always plays hard. Hate when city fans boo him.
