Ayre on summer transfers: "It will cost what it costs when we decide who the manager wants to buy."

lol
+4
thats the way it should be.. in Brendon these niggas best be trustin after this season
+2
I am satisfied with the way our transfers have been the past couple years. No overpaying for players, not giving in to these increasingly inflated markets. Sure not all of our purchases have been successful but at least we are not paying more than we think we should be paying for players. Even during the end of the January transfer window when it looked as though we would miss out on players because we weren't willing to shell out more money I was ok with that because I thought the team would be able to make top 4 with the players we had. I don't like the idea of spending obscene amounts of money for single players, and while I know players of a certain caliber will cost more, we should be be weary of overspending and be very deliberate with our purchases.

CL should make it easier to negotiate reasonable prices. Along with the fact that we are playing very attractive football under a manager that is quoted by the legend Stevie G, who every footballer respects and admires, to be "the best ever man-manager" he's ever played for, should make LFC quite an attractive club for talented young players throughout Europe. The way Rodgers has embraced youth will also catch the eye of many of these players.

Having said that, you get what you pay for in most cases. Good players cost money. There is no way around that. Just stick to your evaulation of what you think a player is worth. We don't reek of desperation anymore so I don't see us getting held hostage and forced to pay over the odds for players. We do need to add a few world-class players to keep challenging domestically and in CL. Those players cost serious money, as stated above.

That Chelsea forum gets toxic too damn fast. With or without other supporters commenting on the page :/

Giving me the sads if we lose to them this weekend. But f**k that, BEAT CHELSEA.

What do you guys think of Tom Huddlestone? Good squad player for you guys next season.

He could be the perfect player to play the role Gerrard plays whenever Gerrard needs a rest or is injured. Huddlestone has some of the best composure and ball distribution in the PL. Probably not very expensive either
Not top 4 quality IMO. He's always been a chronically overrated player.
+4
I've always liked Huddlestone for his ball striking, both passing and shooting, but that is about it. Not the quickest either, which doesn't help his case.
Either way Liverpool really need to consider a ball distributor to cover Gerrard who isn't getting younger
I loved huddlestone a few years back before he got injured and was sold to slavery for a year or two then came back with the death stare in his eyes and huge afro... since then he has been pretty quiet... i havent really payed attention to his fom this year but if he is 2/3rds the player he use to be id like him here as a squad player.. itd be pretty much perfect.................. and i hate saying this but i liked using him in FIFA lol

edit: now that i think of it he wouldnt work in BRs system.. he is how you say.. self paced?
+2
Haha self paced? Synonym for 'slow as molasses?'
+3
No don't want this guy in LFC.
+1
Yep ^
Similar to charlie adam ,good at small club. Highly overrated, no thanks.

Good video of his goals for the Spuds. My favorite is the one against Arsenal. His technique is great and it seems like he barely even kicks it. No follow through at all...

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2610222/Liverpools-plans-redeveloped-Anfield-leaked-Merseyside-club-prepare-expand-stadium-60-000-seats.html

I've got to say FSG are making progress in all frontier! The drawing for the new stadium is.. kinda weird but maybe it will all make sense when the whole thing is done.. like when they're done upgrading all the tiers.
+1
Its 50,000 seats not 60,000. We should be aiming for 60,000 - 65,000 tbh considering the amount of people on waiting list for season tickets :D
+2
I agree. I think 50,000 is a bit of a let down TBH. We needed a upgrade years ago to compete and after all that 50,000 is what we get. 60,000 - 65,000 would seem more right.
You guys dont see it, its 50000 but the surrounding area around anfield is going to be changed entirely with open sky markets and hotels so as to make it a much more attractive setup.
+1
Guys, check out the link I posted two posts below.

Firstly, the design is not final, there are a few in contention just a matter of the decision makers to select one.

Secondly, the seating plans is closer to 60,000. Phase one will bring the main stand up to 54,000. Phase two will see the Anfield road stand be expanded, 58,800 in total.
+2
Eventually going to be 58,750 capacity. That's not a bad start in my opinion. Totally agree with you Weezer. The whole area around Anfield is going to be revamped. This will make all the difference as well if we consistently make Champions League football the next few years.

Edit: and the better you do in the Champions League the more money you get also. Some of which could be used to expand Anfield further.
+2
The same thing is happening with us as well. Though Italian economy isn't good, so we actually made our stadium smaller :) But, it's great to have a brand new stadium and they are already working on Juventus City which will add to the already revamped area around the stadium.
Raptors win Raptors win Raptors win WOO!!!

Demar Derozan came clutch
:D
Not sure if this was posted yet, checked back a few pages and couldn't see it.

Dan posted the plans prior to the approval, now it's confirmed. Final plans and drawing will be announced in the coming weeks.

"Mayor of Liverpool Joe Anderson says things will start happening quickly regarding the proposed expansion of Anfield stadium after the final properties around the ground were purchased"

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is set to be handed a bumper £60m summer war chest.

http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/375601/Liverpool-set-to-hand-Anfield-boss-Brendan-Rodgers-60m-transfer-war-chest
+3
that's not enough though
+1
Bumper ?
+1
Think of it as 60m + the 20m we didn't spend on that attacker, + player sales.

Last summer we got around 20m, with sales it was around 40m, and we spent 40m+

So 60m off the bat is good.
+1
60 is good given that we spend wisely and off late we havent bowed down on inflated prices and wage demands so I think with BR in charge this will be enough. Plus we might sell the likes of Coates and Reina. (Still dont know how to feel about Reina's departure :( )
Last year's league money

1st Man u - Prize £15m + tv £13.4m : £61.4m
2nd City - Prize £14.3m + tv £12.9m : £60.2m
3rd Chelsea - Prize £13.5m + tv £10.6m : 57.1m
4th Arsenal - Prize £12.8m + tv £10.1m : 55.9m

We will also be making some money with our higher league finishing this season. I'm not saying we go mad in the summer on transfers but if we want to sustain any kind of success to our club we need to be able to handle the different competitions next season we'll be in. I have faith in Rodgers and what he's doing, 60m is enough for a smart man like him to work with.
thats good enough to buy 2-3 really good players
Going to be a long work week until the match..
Wow, Chelsea lineup is going to be interesting. Cech is done for the year. Terry is now out. Mourinho said he would rest some players. Lampard and Mikel are out for the second leg which makes it somewhat likely both will play at Anfield. Some players are only available for league play. So predict the Chelsea lineup!

I'll say....

Schwartzer
Kalas Cahill Luiz Cole
Matic Mikel
Salah Oscar Schurrle
Ba

I think at the very least you can pencil in Matic and Salah. They can't play UCL so you would expect to see them in the lineup at Anfield. Have to think they will not try Hazard before the second leg in UCL and that they might rest Willian. Lampard is out for second leg which makes it likely he could find his way in, maybe in a more advanced role over Oscar.
Lampard will probably play instead of Ba with Schurrle up top
Kalas? .. you mean Azpilicueta?
+2
^Don't think they would play what is literally their entire starting back line against Liverpool. They might play Ivanovic but I'm guessing they will attempt to rest one or two players.
+1
No, I actually don't know who Kalas is. lol :P
+2
^^ He is a right back probably around 22 years
+1
That's probably the line up.

No Terry, No Hazard, No Cech.

We will need a miracle to get result at Anfield this weekend. With all the probability, I think the title is yours.
Kalas probably won't make his first start at CFC at Anfield.
+1
where's torres?? i want to see him get booed
